  1. T1 blows away T2 for me. Not saying T2 wasn’t amazing when I first saw it in the theater but the feeling after seeing the original still lingers today while T2 has some cheese stuck to it.
  2. Leto’s talents were wasted in Suicide Squad due to bad writing/-script. Wish Scorsese or Nolan were directing him.
  3. Excellent advice. Especially the live insertion part. Anything 5k plus and I’m standing there. I use a private snooty framer that always argues with my matting choice. They managed to convince me otherwise on several occasions. “This looks good,” is usually followed by a chuckle from them. I usually go with Tru Vue Museum glass and Plexi for my best pieces.
  4. That may be true but I’ve always preferred his Hulk over Spidey.
  5. I actually feel somewhat guilty when I reread my favorite novels over considering all the books out there I haven’t read.
  6. I think I’m wired differently, if I chose to watch my all time favorite movie (which I’ve only seen 3 times over twenty years) over and over, it would lose something out of my expectation of scene by scene viewing and just become dull. I found out the hard way when I watched Aliens twenty times in a one year period when I got the VHS. I can’t wait to become senile.
  7. I know I’m a broken record on this topic but the first two novels are among my favorite reads. Please just go back and give me a proper JP and The Lost World based on the novels with new actors. I’ll even forgive the PG13 rating. Film them both back to back and title them with Crichtons name. The TRex river chase scene from the first novel would have been epic. Supposedly cut from the first movie because it wouldn’t advance the story but in reality was scrapped due to budget. Then, based on the success of those, continue with new stories and the same actors since The Lost World novel left possibilities. Oh and when Malcolm dies in JP, he stays dead Hollywood. He STAYS dead.
  8. I thought it was good. Not mind blowing or anything. I actually enjoyed a couple other Marvel movies better than this one. I have no real desire to watch this again but I might right before the second part releases. I’m not sure what it is but the heroes VS swarm of (insert enemy) has gotten old for me. I’m sure I’ll enjoy the second part more as the story unfolds. As long as the finale is not another swarm battle.
  9. I can’t find the Scalped cover, what was the result?
  10. That is a surprising result. I considered buying several Varley painted DK pages early this year at 4 and 5k. Missed that boat I guess.
  11. Did not like Suicide Squad but Leto is a monumental actor. His Joker was outstanding even though I didn’t care for the lame tattooed look. Heath has been the benchmark though and I’ve been waiting for a comic book film to exceed The Dark Knight for a long time and still remain disappointed.
  12. If you’ve never read a Rocky strip, here’s an example.
  13. While relatively unknown in America, Rocky is a Swedish comic strip that ran for 20 years (ending this year). It is my favorite modern comic strip after Calvin and Hobbes. Boardie mschmidt introduced me to it some years ago by sending me a collected volume as a gift. There are two English language volumes available on Amazon and I highly recommend checking them out if you have any love for the strip format. Warning: adult themes and language. Rocky spawned a CGI series and also appeared as a national postage stamp. I picked this small drawing up from Walter through CAF and he gave me the gallery name in Sweden where he acquired it. This led me to securing a wonderful piece from the gallery owner which I’ll add here once the transaction is complete. Finally, thanks to Simon (GotSuperPowers?) - you know what you did.
  14. As a young child I was reading Richie Rich (Late 70’s) and then in the 80’s it was all about Marvel and DC. My group of friends and I never once had the Marvel VS DC argument. We would argue over who was the best character. But we all read and traded Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men, Hulk, Penthouse and Iron Man.
  15. Cline says he’s working on a sequel to the first novel and not the movie since there were changes. Next book is called Ready Player Two.
  16. I’m a fan of the first movie but man let’s forget everything that came after. This trailer looks great and the pilot will probably release or leak onto the net within a week or two.
  17. Forgot to add my take. Lifelong Spielberg fan and loved the Cline novel. Very disappointed with the movie. HUGE let-down. The Shining scene was the only thing I enjoyed about the movie. And the worst part about it is that Spielberg was the only one that could have pulled this off. Doubtful that it could ever be remade into a faithful version of the novel without his properties.
  18. I think there are some artists that entertain detailed descriptions and welcome it like Sanjulian or Mike Mayhew and then there are some I wouldn’t give any detail other than the character name. I asked for Ronin from Frank Miller and the Jungle Queen from Sam Kieth. Nothing more than the names and absolutely loved what they produced. For those two only, I wanted to be surprised with something original. I still consider them commissions because I commissioned them to produce art for me.

    The Strip

Sure it was! Basically looking to see any funnies that appeared in the newspaper. I remember The Far Side was one of my first visits. That quick hilarious single panel shot. Loved starting my day to it.
  20. For those of us that used to go straight to the back of the daily newspaper. Share a strip you enjoyed here from time to time whether it’s old school Peanuts and Pogo to Calvin and Hobbes.
