  1. It's sounds from everywhere JJ is garbage.

Completely a matter of opinion. I loved it, and I enjoyed it better on first watch than I did DD.

I've watched the first 6 episodes, and I think it's very good storytelling. It meets the acid test of a drama: do you want to know what happens next?

I find the answer is always yes with this series so far.

And I should note, I wasn't too excited about this series.

Shouldn't be compared to DD; they are different stylistically. However, overall, half way through, it compares favorably IMO.

  2. Obviously a very well produced show, but I have yet to see anything that wows or immediately draws in the viewer the way the Daredevil trailer did (particularly for the non-comic-book-nerd crowd). Perhaps it is just the source material and a weak F-list character that does not seem capable of supporting their own show, but this material looks like a long, drawn out (no pun intended) version of the monster of the week stuff they've done on the SHIELD show.

Fortunately the canvas is small, so if it doesn't quite connect it won't harm the Marvel brand at all.

    -J.

Obviously in the minority here, but my overall reaction to the trailers is meh.

Good production values, a little interesting, but not that compelling.

  3. Just saying, if I were Fox, I'd gladly consider losing $80 million (which will be offset some by DVD/streaming, etc.) every 6-7 years if would help keep Disney (or any other rival) from potentially making $600 million off that same IP.

Out of principal, maybe, but is that really a smart business move? hm

Seems a bit like chopping off your nose to spite your face to me...

  4. I don't think it's even possible that they're the same. Unless he's basically faster than light to get from being right behind Gemma when the sandstorm started and into the space suit but not suddenly in front of Gemma in a matter of seconds.

And when she was in the Boneyard & saw the cloaked guy coming towards her, it would have required astronaut Will to be able to somehow run past her without being seen, dump the cloak, and get in front of her again in a matter of seconds while she runs in flat-out sprint in a straight line back to their hideout. And be there with enough time to spare to be yelling for her when she's yelling as well & be prepared to get the door open.

I mean, it's conceivable, but it's unlikely IMO. I think you'd have seen some sort of glimpse that he's not who he says he is or Gemma would have figured out he was lying when it's unlikely he would have known how the NASA instruments work if he wasn't an astronaut sent by NASA like he claimed.

Sure, the cloaked guy, the space suit being & Will might all be the same being, but in the same way that the one theory of physics has it's 1 electron theory. It's conceivable, but unlikely.

Maybe it's a Forbidden Planet/Tempest thing. Will is conjuring up all of this terror from his own subconscious... hm

  5. Dear Mark Millar. Please fix this.

Two big-budget attempts have had minor to absolute middling results. I don't see anymore attempts to reboot this series now, unless they team with a group (Fox's X-men). Does Disney own the TV rights? I could see a TV series then, it's what should be on instead of AoS.

After seeing Daredevil, I'm coming to the opinion that all of Marvel's works would/could be better realized as TV series, with appropriate budgets for the effects and other production values.

It fits their episodic long story telling format much better.

Movies will never capture the books as well.

  6. And what timing.

Marvel's JESSICA JONES Episode Titles Leak

Out of curiosity, a reddit user increased the number in the URL for the Jessica Jones series by one digit. This code, and the 12 following it, seem to give episode titles for the entire season of Jessica Jones.

Assuming the titles are on there in order, here's what they are:

    1x01 - AKA Ladies Night (52m)

    1x02 - AKA Crush Syndrome (52m)

    1x03 - AKA It's Called Whiskey (54m)

    1x04 - AKA 99 Friends

1x05 - AKA The Sandwich Saved Me (50m)

    1x06 - AKA You're a Winner (54m)

1x07 - AKA Top Shelf Perverts

    1x08 - AKA WWJD?

    1x09 - AKA Sin Bin

1x10 - AKA The Kumbaya Circle Jerk

    1x11 - AKA I've Got the Blues

1x12 - AKA Jewel and the Power Man

    1x13 - AKA Smile

Except for the next to last one, I didn't find any of those titles to be at all intriguing...

  7. I wonder if folks would hate on it less if it were actually called "Ultimate Fantastic Four?"

It would be great if they called it something completely different, so people who know nothing about them won't associate this with the real Lee/Kirby FF.

Something like "Justice League of America".

  8.

So Sue Storm's extra ability is that she's "hyper-intelligent"?!? You've got to be kidding me.

Here's a quote from Josh Trank:

"There have always been two categories of Sue – the slutty secretary version, and this brilliant scientist version. This is a really, really smart Sue, and one that is dignified and has integrity."

Always? Except for one brief moment, when Sue was corrupted (Malice), she has never been "slutty". And, while she is dedicated, loyal, protective, and powerful (as well as being dignified and having integrity), she has never been a "brilliant scientist" or "hyper-intelligent" (Except in the horrible useless fake Ultimate FF).

Yeah it doesnt sound like he knows what he's talking about

    Nail. Head.

  9. Looks as bad as the previous 2 FF films only with extra emo.

My thoughts exactly. Actually cringed at some of the circa 1990 action movie dialogue.

Maybe it is the best trailer so far. Still looks like a crappy movie that disrespects the source.

    Spot on with the dialogue:

    "What if we say no?"

    "Say yes."

Brilliant. Right up there with the Jack-Rose exchanges in Titanic.

The rest looks just as inspired.

This is a super hero film. You're looking for inspired screenplay? Watch Scarface. "I always tell the truth. Even when I lie."

    Yes.

  10. Tilda Swinton Confirms DOCTOR STRANGE Role; Teases Different Direction To Other Marvel Movies

"We’re so far in talks that we’re not talking any more [laughs]. It’s done. I just really liked the premise of this and the idea of playing this character. I’m a Marvel fan and I think this particular world that Doctor Strange goes into is really, really, really exciting. I’m really interested as both an actor and a fan to see what’s done in this particular world."

How will Doctor Strange differ to previous Marvel movies? Well, it sounds like it might be the one to finally break the formula which critics are beginning to tear into more and more with every new release. "It’s all about creativity. It’s not about everything exploding at the end. It’s about something very different. The idea of playing The Ancient One is really just too tickling. I can’t say no to that!"

    Very disappointing.

  12. Just now.

Where do you go to see this information? Earlier this morning the boards were at a crawl.

Yes, they were. I gave up even trying to get on Saturday or Sunday morning, I forget which it was.

  13. Mark Millar (Chrononauts) and Bryan Hitch (Justice League of America) had one hell of a run on Fantastic Four a few years back, and now the latter has brought his cinematic style of artwork to Josh Trank's upcoming reboot for a Comic-Con exclusive poster.

Sue looks rather manish don't she?

Yes, she does. And Reed rather boyish.
