I have been checking FMV for my top books (about 200, all raw) every 6 month's since 2015 using eBay "sold auctions" for books in the same grade, I have FMV for my books from 2015-2023. Just as an example, F.F. 12 (Raw) GD/VG 3.0 2015 $281.00, 2016 $254.00, 2017 $300.00, 2018 $330.00, 2019 $400.00, 2020 $500.00, 2021 $675.00, 2022 $850.00, 2023 $500.00 Even if you cannot find the past stats you are looking for, you can start doing this now to start following market trends. I am not a member but I think Go Collect shows past sales records for CGC graded books.

Grading is subjective and from what I read on this site as I do not use their services is that CGC is not very consistent with their grading. This is why folks tell you to, "Buy The Book, Not The Grade." According to the Overstreet/Heritage grading standards for spine ticks/stress lines/color breaks... NM+ 9.6 - Almost imperceptible indentations are permissible, but no creases, bends, or color break. NM 9.4 - Almost no stress lines, . A 1/16" bend is permitted with no color break. NM- 9.2 - Almost no stress lines. A 1/16-1/8" bend is permitted with no color break. VF/NM 9.0 - A very minor accumulation of stress lines may be present if they are nearly imperceptible. An 1/8" bend is allowed if color is not broken. VF 8.0 - Very slight staple tears and a few almost insignificant stress lines may be present. An unnoticeable 1/4" crease is acceptable if color is not broken. FN/VF 7.0 - The slightest spine roll may be present, as well as a possible moderate color break. Slight staple tears and a small accumulation of light stress lines may be present.

Which Batman #7, 1941 or 2016?

That appears to be a bindery tear, although books are graded on their entirety this is what the grading standards (Heritage/Overstreet) state about bindery tears, remember, todays bindery tear could become tomorrows spine split. I cannot speak for CGC, however, if I were grading this book and the rest of the book is NM+ 9.6 worthy but with an 1/8" bindery tear, I would drop it to a NM 9.4. NM+ 9.6 to GM 10.0 - No bindery tears are allowed, NM 9.4 - Bindery tears must be less than 1/16" on Silver Age and later books. FN/VF 7.0 to NM- 9.2 - Small bindery tears have no affect on this grade, however... FN 6.0 - There can also be a 1/4" spine split VG/FN 5.0 - A spine split of up to 1/2" may be present.

Spine Ticks and Staple Tears Only...There is not even a mention of Staple Tears until you get to VF/NM 9.0, IMO, going by the grading standards the book you are showing with small color breaking spine ticks/staple tears is not a NM 9.4, but hey, what do I know. That is why folks say "buy the book, not the grade". NM+ 9.6 - Staples must be original, generally centered, with only the slightest discoloration. NM 9.4 - Staples are generally centered; may have slight discoloration. Almost no stress lines. NM- 9.2 - Staples may show some discoloration. Almost no stress lines. VF/NM 9.0 - Only the slightest staple tears are allowed. A very minor accumulation of stress lines may be present if they are nearly imperceptible. VF 8.0 - Very slight staple tears and a few almost insignificant stress lines may be present FN/VF 7.0 - Slight staple tears and a small accumulation of light stress lines may be present.

The White/Blank UPC box indicates this was an early Direct Edition book. The white cover makes it difficult to see ant small spine ticks, folds/creases, etc. However, from what I can see, barring any unseen defects the book should should be in the NM 9.4 range. (I will not assign a grade higher than that without having the book in front of me) 9.4 NEAR MINT (NM): Back to Top Nearly perfect with only minor imperfections that keep it from the next higher grade. Subtle bindery/printing defects are allowed. Bindery tears must be less than 1/16" on Silver Age and later books, although on Golden Age books bindery tears of up to 1/4" have been noted. Congrats on getting an F.F. 5. The book appears to be in the GD/VG 3.0 to VG- 3.5 range so the tape is not really going to affect the grade. Transparent "Scotch" tape is not considered restoration, CGC grades the book as if the tape were not there, grading the book based on the defects the tape is attempting to repair. (Spine splits, detached cover, tears, holding on pieces, preventing chipping from getting worse, etc.) If it is a higher grade book and tape was used as a "precautionary" method (say to prevent spine splints) but there is no defect at this time, just tape, the book will be downgraded accordingly but will still receive a Blue Label. https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/3327/CGC-Modifies-Stance-on-Grading-Submissions-with-Tape/

Just so you are aware, if the book came with the "tattooz" and they are missing, either the sheet is there without the tattooz or the entire sheet has been removed causing damage at the staple, the book will receive a "Green Qualified Label" since CGC considers the book to be "incomplete" without the tattooz present (if they originally came with the book).
