  6. When I started reading comics as a kid it was Harvey and Archie and for whatever reason I was drawn to Sad Sack Comics. About 10 years ago I decided to recapture my youth with the books I enjoyed before I started with "Super Hero's" and the books that captured the TV's shows/Memories of my youth like Beany and Cecil, Tom Terrific, Adventures Of The Big Boy, etc, so naturally Sad Sack Comics as well. It has taken that long to accumulate all of the issues.

  10. Nice Room!!! Just one observation on my part being the "pessimist" that I am... (Was nicknamed Mr.Doom and Gloom) A Space Heater and Paper Products???
  11. What am I missing here??? Is The Book Incomplete? Back Cover Missing?
  12. Now all I need is Complimentary #12 and that completes ALL of my Sad Sack Runs.
  13. Now that I am in the process of Re-Grading my books I found I was way off on this number. 3400 - 3500 is the correct number.
  14. I cannot give an "exact" value but I am in the process of re-grading/cataloging all of my books so I will have a much better idea by the end of the year. At this point I am insured for $30,000.00

  16. Nice Haul!!! I only collect raw books and it brought me much joy when I was able to add older issues to my collection. Enjoy!!!
  17. I concede, you have bested me in crappiness! I have finally found someone who might buy my books in an attempt to upgrade. I salute you, sir! (thumbs u I bought/buy what I can afford and was/am only looking to complete my runs which makes me a very happy camper but when it comes to low grade... Some real doozies there, That's for sure. So let me ask both of you something (although spracknetch23 kinda answered already) - do you buy these books with the idea of replacing them in the future? I was just wondering, because most of them I probably wouldn't buy because I decided years ago that once an issue was purchased, it went off the wantlist forever. The only exceptions might be when I buy a group lot and there is something I don't own in the lot but isn't up to my (low) standards, I might keep the copy but leave it on my list. Which means the lowest I go is a G that looks nice (yeah, I know some folks don't think such a thing exists), generally shooting for VG or so. The lower grade books are the early issues that I did not purchase back in the 80's from the LCS/Cons before the prices skyrocketed. I never plan on buying a lower grade copy to upgrade later. I buy to complete my runs with first print/original issues and buy what I can Afford and then move on.(the exceptions are the #1's which are Marvel Milestone) As long as the cover is there and the book is complete I am good, also have no problem with remainder copies of early issues if they are priced correctly. The ultimate goal...Complete all runs before I am gone.
  18. "Ho-Hum"??? Archie is a Mainstay and very relaxing to read, not serious or violent, just FUN. When I started reading comics back in the early 60's it was Archie and Harvey Comics. When I went to the used book store in the local farmers market back in the 70's they would have tables of coverless/remainder copies, 15 for $1.00 and I always bought a pile of Archie/Harvey. to read. Keep collecting and posting the good stuff!!! (thumbs u

  20. Glad to see I am not the only one that does not have a problem completing runs with lower grade reading copies. (thumbs u Hey, pretty much my entire collection is lower grade copies! Well, when you look through these threads and see all of the higher grade CGC books being shown off it makes you think that you are the only one with low grade copies of anything.
