  1. I spammed this all over the gold forum. Time for general.
  2. 340 copies per state doesn't seem low to me at all when we are talking about what's become a big ticket item. Actually, it sounds like too many copies to me.
  3. well, $45k and you have your 31...$25k and you have your 3.5 back...
  4. You're right. The cover sucks. Ahem. Bullchit, this is my fave bat cover complete with a full moon, bats, and an a**-kicking encore! I'm with you! I love it.
  5. I'm not convinced that the Batman 1 sale at cc is 100% representative of FMV. I'm pretty sure it was just me and one other person duking it out. I went to 29.5 and then folded. If I hadn't been bidding, that book would have likely gone for a lot less. Two people hitting each other with OTT bids does not necessarily mean we have a market surge. I like the 29 as much as the 31, though it trades for a bit less at present. It only takes two to tango to bid up a books price Very true! But just because I'm a nut and he's a nut doesn't mean you're a nut, too.

  7. Get it back for $45k Shoot me It's a great book, but I'm really surprised that 35k didn't take it home. Somebody's shooting for the moon (which is better than somebody shooting you!).
  8. Hearty congrat's, Tom. I know you have some really nice stuff - would you consider this book to be the centerpiece of your GA collection? I'm thinking so, yeah. Usually, when I buy a book I just start looking for the next thing to chase. Picking up this book was somehow...I don't know, the junky urge ceased a bit, I suppose. I think I will be selling a lot more stuff that I normally wouldn't dream of parting with, because I"ve now got this mother of a key.
  9. Thanks. The seller says the book had been tucked away in a barn, under a trap door, for 70+ years.
  10. Hope nobody minds that I'm kinda spamming the board with this one this week: This marks my official bow-out from big buying for awhile.
  11. Wow, how often do you see a Four Color 1? Great book.
  12. If tape was used to improve the grade, is it really unrestored? If a kid taped it in the 40s, is it really restoration?
  13. Congrats! That's a book that isn't likely to lose its heat anytime soon. Also glad to see how much you're enjoying your purchase. (thumbs u
  14. You paid way too much, but so will anyone else who really wants a high grade icon these days. We just have to adjust our expectations upwards once again, and realise that for books like this prices are continuing to rise, even though the market may be arguably quite static for most "average" material. There are still bargains to be had, but unless, oh, say three better copies are sprung loose by this sale, - and probably even then - you've made a very sound investment. So sleep well (with the book in your arms?) Congratulations on a wonderful book! Great post.

  16. Hot damn, 7k....but it sure is pretty! Congrats. I think it's high time to slab mine.
  17. That book is already approaching serious wedge. Damn, your right. I bet th lower grade copy on ebay doesn't last long after this auction closes. The classic covers have totally exploded.
