  1. That's why Action 1 is the perfect book.
  2. Well that makes sense when you mention it, I just remember when I was collecting in my younger days in the 90's it seemed like #33 was the book to have after #27. Yep, but now the "2nd cover" chase has made stars out of Tec 29 and action 7. Good thing they are both awesome covers to boot.
  3. I'd pay 1200 for a ratty version of just the cover, but not the trimmed interior.
  4. Such a stunning book. I can't believe those inks were printed in 1939.
  5. Now I just need to set up my children with factory work 18hrs a day so that I can buy a Tec 31.
  6. Wow, those Amazing Mans are a thing to behold. Great collection, there. Finally, I'm making a contribution to this thread.
  7. I don't believe I ever got around to posting this. I know it will make the siggy-haters shudder. Try not to spill yer tea.
  8. Thanks for the kind words, gang. I'm very excited to have this book in hand. As some of you know, I sold off a Tec 29 last year because I bought it at roughly the same time as my other big-book purchase (tec 1) of 2012--and that made my wife a bit nervous. I'm very glad to have a replacement copy (and a very similar-looking replacement copy at that). It's in stronger hands this time 'round.
  9. Love it when boardies can come together on a big deal. I unboxed this sucker yesterday. Sorry about the smallish scan...don't know what's up with that. Friggin' Photobucket beta.
  10. A huge thank you to Ben for making this happen. I promise to give it a good home.
  11. Wow, amazing foursome there. Thanks for sharing!
  12. Such a sweet Action 3. I'm jealous! Great buy. Enjoy it, cd!
  13. I have the occasional pang for my sold-off AMF15. I used it to help finance my purchase of a Tec 1 this year, though, so I can't complain too much. There will always be another AMF15...although I'm sure I'll have to pay more for it than I did the first time around.
  14. Indeed I have Beautifully done Tec 35 book Looks NM. Congrats!
  15. C'mon people, it's Thanksgiving...can we all agree to take a five-minute break to call our mothers?
  16. The ones that say "Robert Bell" on the flap. This is a baseball thread; don't you mean Albert Belle. I have no clue who either of you are talking about, so I'm just gonna throw Bell Biv Devoe out there and walk away. It's long overdue but now Philly is slammin' Boyz II Men, ABC, BBD The east coast family You can do me when you wanna do me.
  17. Agreed, not going to happen. PGX is dead in the water. At the root, this is the problem, i.e. no authentic competition for CGC.
  18. Getting into comics "way back in the 80s"=nerd street cred? Street cred??? I'm just admitting that I have my own prejudices and where they come from. And the "getting into" means as a dealer... not as a childhood reader, of course. People read an awful lot into the most straight-forward of statements. It was supposed to be a joke.
  19. Okay... you irritate me with one post, then make me laugh with another. That's not playing fair! Your opinion isn't heresy. I just disagree and see high grade comics differently. I agree, the fine division of grades, the sometimes huge monetary difference between a very small defect, and the fact that some books get different grades on re-submission is a root problem for much of the angst in the hobby. However, I think the grading system is right where it should be, and I don't think the system you use would be very useful, and would bring about it's own set of controversies. Bookery's grading system would actually make CVA relevant. Well then that's the best possible reason for NOT going that route.
  20. Indeed, I can see a new thread already: "Certified Collectibles Group (CCG) Acquires Comic Verification Authority" bgraves (Insert your own snarky parody of the CGC/CI announcement replacing "CI" with "CVA", mention the former CGC employees associated with it, streamling the process, providing synergy across services, and how excited everyone is about this great new opportunity.) I am surprised, Mike, that they haven't already unveiled their "Star System" for comics just like they have for coins. Oy vey, please don't give 'em any more brilliant ideas.
  21. Yep, I would buy a whole bunch of GA and SA keys for cheap if they were raw, but if they were in slabs, forget about it!
