  1.

its like 2.0 Batman 1 at 30k in the last comicconnect auction. It was a 20k under book.

Market is on an upswing on bat1 and tec31 te two best bat books behind

    The holy tec27.

I'm not convinced that the Batman 1 sale at cc is 100% representative of FMV. I'm pretty sure it was just me and one other person duking it out. I went to 29.5 and then folded. If I hadn't been bidding, that book would have likely gone for a lot less. Two people hitting each other with OTT bids does not necessarily mean we have a market surge.

I like the 29 as much as the 31, though it trades for a bit less at present.

It only takes two to tango to bid up a books price :)

Very true! But just because I'm a nut and he's a nut doesn't mean you're a nut, too. lol

  3. Congrats man! A great purchase at that! The more I see a Tec 31 book, the more I miss my copy
    Get it back for $45k

    Shoot me :insane:

It's a great book, but I'm really surprised that 35k didn't take it home. Somebody's shooting for the moon (which is better than somebody shooting you!).

  4. this just in...my ultimate grail. it's a beautiful book and looks just amazing in person. a special thanks to rockman/Mike for allowing me to be the owner of this. i apologize in advance for spamming this one like crazy since it is my favorite book in my collection. i may just keep posting it everyday until you kick me off the boards.
    :applause:
  5. Hope nobody minds that I'm kinda spamming the board with this one this week:

This marks my official bow-out from big buying for awhile. :)

    Hearty congrat's, Tom. :golfclap:

I know you have some really nice stuff - would you consider this book to be the centerpiece of your GA collection?

    I'm thinking so, yeah. :cloud9:

Usually, when I buy a book I just start looking for the next thing to chase. Picking up this book was somehow...I don't know, the junky urge ceased a bit, I suppose. I think I will be selling a lot more stuff that I normally wouldn't dream of parting with, because I"ve now got this mother of a key. :)

  6. Well according to CGC tape isn't considered restoration. I'd be happy just to get an affordable pre-Robin Tec and if the tape bothers some people than I'll have a better shot at getting an unrestored Pre-Robin Tec! EJR

If tape was used to improve the grade, is it really unrestored?

If a kid taped it in the 40s, is it really restoration?

  7. Thanks Goldust and Cheetah, I was tossing and turning all night thinking maybe I spent a bit much,.,then I slept like a baby after reminding myself I just got a MM12 8.0 blue label.

You paid way too much, but so will anyone else who really wants a high grade icon these days. We just have to adjust our expectations upwards once again, and realise that for books like this prices are continuing to rise, even though the market may be arguably quite static for most "average" material. There are still bargains to be had, but unless, oh, say three better copies are sprung loose by this sale, - and probably even then - you've made a very sound investment. So sleep well (with the book in your arms?)

    Congratulations on a wonderful book!

    Great post.
