  1. After 8 years on the boards, I finally own a scanner that will fit a slab (as of last week). For $100, I picked up a refurbish HP 7410 AIl-In-One, and I'm pleased with it so far.

I could no longer take the years of humiliation, mockery, and shame. Now I get to finally sell slabs on the board like a pro!

  2.

I can't argue against the insanity, but here's some other hammer prices on ASMs in 9.9 from this year:

    #239 3,501 (ComicLink)

    #275 1,351 (ComicLink)

    #298 1,532 (ComicLink)

    #300 6,101 :insane: (ComicLink)

    #312 825 (eBay)

    #319 1,226 (eBay)

    #323 1,136 (eBay)

Well here is where the debate starts...

I paid $60 for a copy of Amazing Spider-man 303 in a 9.8 earlier this year. Is a 9.9 of that copy really worth about $800-1000 more?

If your book will lose the vast majority of its 'value' the second it's cracked out, then you've overpaid.

    Sage advice.

  3. Prices were very strong in this SC auction.

I keep seeing we are in a weak economy but yet comic sales keep going up. hm

Yeah, but there's no way of knowing whether or not people are buying with cash or with credit, or if they're buying and then having to dump a bunch of material to pay for it.

That was sorta my plan---to ditch my ASMS if I could land the Cap1 at a sane price. I'm not sure that's necessarily the sign of an unhealthy market, though. People switch in and out of books all the time.
