  7. Did anyone see this... Believe It or Not #1 curator
  8. I actually started out collecting coins on eBay in 1998. I didn't really collect anything before that (aside from a few coins/comics in my youth). I got into the hobby quite a bit, but realized that alot of the coins I really wanted were too expensive. I still have quite a few coins in my collection, but most of them have been sitting in a safe for 3 years. Then, I got into comics (in a big way). Started reading alot of them and buying a bunch on eBay (BA to Modern). Also, reading about the hobby in old Overstreets and trade magazines like CBA/Alter Ego. Comics are much more fasctinating to read than looking at a coin. I get much more enjoyment out of my comic book/comic art collecting than coin collecting.
  9. I've liked that Kaluta cover since I saw the cover art up for sale last year.
  10. Welcome to the Boards! It's alot of re-hash. Get over it. Doesn't look like any HOM 173 I have seen before.

  12. Nice. That would make a great Xmas avatar! As for Santa's motives, maybe they were being naughty.
  13. Who can truly understand what goes on in the mind of a shyster. My problem with sterling is that he told the board he was going to sell them here. Then he changed his mind and said he was going to sell them on his website. All the while he won't say what books he will be selling nor what condition they are. He just says he is scanning them in. So the process he went through to sell the books took several weeks, even though it was an emergency. So now sterling claims he had additional resources for the money, and the auctions were not needed as much. He just claims one lie after another. Isn't he allowed to change his mind? Maybe he hadn't thought through exactly what he wanted to do. I don't necessarily read dark motives in his actions. But then I didn't see all that transpired. Maybe the situation changed while he was in the process of selling them.
  14. Here's my question, Deathlok. If Sterling tried to get maximum dollar by telling board members he needed the money for a sick relative, why would he list them on eBay/ComicLink and, then, NOT TELL ANYONE! It doesn't make sense to me. Wouldn't he want everyone to know they were for sale? If he wanted to get more for his books by using a story to get sympathy bids (which I doubt), why wouldn't he have made a proclaimation to the boards that the books were now up for sale so everyone would bid? Just wondering.
  15. Just be glad you didn't hang on to it for another 5 years, selling it for a mere 5 bucks would really have hurt. Yeah. I just got off the merry-go-round too early. I wasn't crazy enough to hang on.
  16. In 8/02, I bought a USM #1 White CGC 9.8 for $304. Immediately resold it for $456. They now sell for $1000-$1200.
