UK Variants - why the large value disparity
mec3437 replied to duplicatecomics's topic in Comics General
After completing my X-Men run, I started working on other runs, and ended up with a couple of Miller DD pence copies. Eventually I turned towards collecting Marvel pence copies to complete my runs. As an American living in America, I actually find pence copies sexy. I've been taking advantage of the price difference between cents and pence in order to acquire the issues I'm looking for. -
@gadzukes, if I am selling pence copies, I tend to list them at an even price with cents counterparts. I look at it as a niche market, like newsstand collectors. High grade (9.2 and up) pence keys may command a premium due to there not being as many copies available. Overall, the price disparity was around 15% to 30% less for a pence copy but the gap may be closing as collectors are becoming more educated on them. I can only speak from my experience and don't have anything scientific to go on. @Get Marwood & I may have better information for you.

@ADAMANTIUM quitting smoking was the worst.

Pickups from the last few weeks. I very much enjoy tracking down pence copies. They're my new cigarettes since I quit smoking a few years ago.

I was stationed at Pearl from 2011-2014. I was on shore for 2012 and 2013 for Dec 7th. The mood in the days leading up to it are very somber and the day itself is very heavy. You definitely feel it. I'd recommend for anyone to go to the memorials out there.

I don't like that the info is on the back of the label. LCS near me has an IM 55 with an IM label. The modern art looks out of place, but money talks.

Yes. The receipts do show the weight. It should also be on the postage label that the scammer used when he made his fraudulent return.

Posted across the street for added awareness. -

@awakeintheashes, were you able to contact the local authorities of this d-bag to see if there was anything else that could be done? I think that was mentioned in a prior post as a potential option.

As a kid, I loved Jim Lee's X-Men art. It's what got me into X-Men to begin with. The cover for UXM 268 has always stood out to me. I would love to own that.

Sorry to see that. It's one of the reasons I haven't sent anything down in a while. I had a few cracked slabs from my last couple of orders. The exterior of the package was still in good condition but there was no bubble wrap or any interior packing material. Customer service was good about it, so I have no complaints on that end. I was just surprised by the lack of packing materials so the slabs had some room to move around.
