  1. LCS in Ohio had this over the summer and I couldn't pass it up. Die Spinne #130, German reprint of ASM #129.
  2. Well, that was my intention all along. . I was just glad to inadvertently catch that for you.
  3. Was there a rhyme or reason to why some books did not have "Marvel All Colour Comics" in the banner but still retained the "Marvel Comics Group" banner? FF 233 for sure keeps that. Wasn't sure if it was just a money saver or the printers got lazy and didn't swap out the plates. On a side note, I've been having a blast picking up some pence copies of issues that are on my list. Condition is always key, but VF or better, and I have no problem buying pence copies, especially because I can get them a little cheaper than the cents copies. I have a few on their way from across the pond. I'll post pics after they arrive. I absolutely love this thread. The information has been amazing and so well researched.
  4. Is there a good venue for buying pence variants? I've bought from eBay, 30th Century Comics but some sellers are hit and miss with grading. I'm usually looking for VF+ and higher. I have one contact in the UK, but he's struggled in helping as well. It could just be a patience game.
  5. @Get Marwood & I, this has been incredibly in-depth and interesting to read. I don't know how long you have been researching and diving into the pence copies, but you've done a magnificent job. I've only recently acquired a few pence copies of books. Captain Marvel 25, Fantastic Four 59, and Avengers 196. I did a little of my own research into it before making purchases. But, as far as my collection goes, they are a nice addition, and something more unique than the standard cents copy. The thrill of finding high grade pence copies interests me. I know it isn't everyone's cup of tea, but to each their own. I've seen people into Whitman copies, Canadian newsstand copies, and US newsstand copies, but the pence copies seem almost undervalued to me. I feel like there would be less of them and the journey to the UK would take its toll on some books. Again, though, fantastic read and look forward to more posts in this thread!
  6. I have a lot to get caught up with since I got back from my deployment. It's been slow going for me, because I haven't read any of the books since last summer. That said, I hope the current continuity ends on a high note. There was a lot going on in the shared Hasbroverse that made it difficult for me to really stay engaged. My attention started to drift when ROM, and MASK were brought in. I can generally tolerate GI Joe being in the TF universe. However, it seemed there were even more books that I would have had to read. I read the core titles and the occasional mini. I would, however, like to see something like the Spotlight series make a comeback in the new reboot. I just like the idea of one character who may be a little underutilized in the main books getting a little attention.
  7. I'm hearing that there will be a 1:50 incentive book with Unicron 1. I'm hoping the event is a good sendoff for IDW's run. It was mostly good when Hasbro wasn't too involved.
  8. Most of the ratios for the 2009 IDW series were 1:10 for the incentive covers.
  9. Transformers: All Hail Megatron # 1 Killing Joke variant CGC 9.8 White Pages $500 last September. I knew I wasn't going crazy when I saw it.
  10. I think we all use the FB page now. I haven't checked here for a couple weeks until today. I don't think I've bought much Transformers stuff lately except for the books I purchased from you. I have some of the Marvel run on its way to CGC but I don't think any other IDW books yet. I still haven't heard anything on the UK book.
  11. I finally had a chance to sit down and read Lost Light #1 and Optimus Prime #1-3. I like where Lost Light is heading. It was solid as MTMTE and while the time travel/teleporting stuff could get hackneyed, I want to see where this goes. Roberts has done a great job writing the series. I'd say he's the Claremont of Transformers right now. No disrespect meant to Furman, but Roberts has really breathed new life into the series after a couple years of jumbled messes (not really Furman's fault). As far as Prime goes, I'm digging the flashback storyline. I find Wreck Gar annoying, but that isn't too different from my thoughts on him in the old show either. The artwork is almost a throwback to the Marvel days. I'm not sure if it is intentional or not. The coloring really calls to mind some of the later Marvel run in terms of art. I may be missing stuff since I didn't read Revolution. There are references that I don't know. I guess since the book takes place on Earth, the other toys have to get face time. Oh well, it's a solid start to the series and hopefully it goes well. Anyone else have thoughts?
  12. My replacement copies arrived the other day. Better but not like they were bought right off the rack. I thought we may have moved beyond the days of shipping without bags and boards. Mine are probably 9.2/9.4 as is. I think I may be done buying books from non-comic sources.
  13. Happy New Year to everyone in advance. I hope everyone is fortunate, happy and healthy in life, and that we can all find what we need for our collections.
  14. Sorry about that. I didn't actually start on page one of the thread. More like page 6 or something. Won't happen again.
  15. This is my white whale right now. 1:25 retailer incentive for Transformers Spotlight Orion Pax. Nothing in stores, the Bay, cons, or even the boards when I try to find this book.
  16. I had never seen it until a few weeks ago when my LCS got one in. NM condition, and I was intrigued by the McFarlane art for GI Joe. So, I bought it, but I will admit that it was more of a lucky find.
  17. I've heard to just stay persistent because the artists are usually busy with their normal workload and other commissions. Thank you for clearing that up.
  18. Nice slabs. I have a few myself. Some are CGC, some CBCS, just kind of depends where I picked them up. I'm still working on a few of the issues for some of the various series. I'll have to go back and reread these series, but I will say that the G1 series really rekindled my love for the Transformers brand in the early 2000s. I really liked the art because it was definitely so different and detailed from the Marvel series that preceded it. I remember liking the second mini series War & Peace a lot. The War Within stuff had a cool concept as well. I'll post up some of my CGC slabs if I get time. Cool thread. I meant to get it started, but you got it going. Kudos.
