A part of me wonders if I should pick up a new print of UXM 1. I've only got the first print, and it'd be nice to have a sewn one, although the glue on here is absolutely fine, for now. Problem is, I'm guessing they're using the lighter paper now, not the nice thick stuff used on the first and second prints?

Similar story but a few years later, with Interview with a Vampire at my local (2-screen) theater. I was 17 but my high school girlfriend was 16 - we got rejected at the door because I clearly wasn’t her “parent or guardian.”

Yes, that's it! I remember it now! It wasn't either an X-Wing or an ATST, it was both! And Tom Neheisel (sp?) was being taunted by Todd over it, who kept ignoring his polite requests to take it down. I don't think I remembered that stuff last time.
And no book after something like 15 years. 'Preorder early and save from a higher retail price'. Haha yeah people must be glad they went with that option.

Just wondering if anyone here has managed to make a steady income of flipping CGC books?
Specifically, buying graded books and selling them a few weeks/months or so later for a profit?
It would seem that if one was very knowledgeable and/or lucky it could be possible.
The other thing you need is money/time. Do you have a substantial inventory? Can you afford to buy one? If not, how long until you can? Are you good enough already to pick yourself up through the ranks, like some fairy tale?
As you can see, without money for the initial investment and time to put into it or to work on an alternate, slower route to start up, you're screwed.
Good luck with it.

It's been at least a month or two, but I revisited this thread, and wanted to update this thread saying he attempted to sell them again in a Facebook group.
What you've quoted from me, the preprod flats with production interiors? If so, and he's doing it again that's unbelievably trashy, but not completely unexpected, given what I remember from it all the first time round.
Did he ever finish that book from like 2005 or so?

Yeah, I'm not crazy on her face or hair sculpt. I may just swap it with one of my other Invisible Women from the past I liked, like the 2-pack version with the McNiven head sculpt.

Though straight, I've been close to the LGBTQ community since adolescence. My father is gay.
I've experienced the ever-evolving and increasingly-inclusive integration of homosexuality and its relations into society. And I'm glad of it.
This post is news and it's relevant. It's topical and important in whatever way you view it - culturally or within our community. It matters when we talk about current writing, rehashing and retconning. It matters to the history of comicbooks and outsiders perspective of our hobby. It matters to the readers who will feel connection to the upcoming story and to those it will not.
Remember though, the board has fun. Give us a topic and we'll run with it. It will often look like the Keystone Cops.
Not one individual person of the LGBTQ community I've ever met has been incapable of humor and unable to poke a little fun at themselves and their sexuality. Not everyone is so secure with themselves, but self-depreciative jokes aid with attractiveness and inclusivity within a social setting. Isn't that what we're aiming for?
What we are doing here is not too far off. I've been around since the post started. We're being respectful and enlightening and funny and provoking and cool.
And we're mostly distracting @kav from Kang.
Oh no I'm not asking for anyone to take it 100% seriously, but some of what was said was verging on a bit ignorant, like the post stating 'well what about his relationship with Spoiler, was she just his beard?'. That one made me face-palm. Have your fun, by all means. I'd never want to deny anyone that!

Thanks to a friend I secured the 2 Fantastic Four Pulse exclusives - Powered Down Johnny and Invisible Sue. Bbts has preorders up for the rest, so I've got my order in for the rest of the set there, with an extra set of the base 4 to display on their Retro cards under the originals from 1994. Again, would have been nice to get a singlet Thing in this wave, but surely they've got to do it eventually..... right?!
Hope others got as lucky as I did.

I'm sorry, but I'm disappointed in the attitude some of you are taking over this, especially those who can't distinguish gasay from bi. Bi erasure is a very real thing, so seeing a real bi character is a great feeling, a validation, I guess. But to have that undermined by my peers, my mates, is a bit upsetting. I just feel a strong kinship for them, thought I was bi when I was younger, turns out probably not, I'm straight and was just influenced by my surroundings at the time, but I still feel for the community, who do have it tougher than you'd think.
Please just give this a chance. This shouldn't make much of a change at all. But I'll remember your hurtful comments and jibes about it. So please, be kind.

I was surprised too.
When he was first introduced to him it was as 'he works with Neal Adam'. As he got more comfortable, it was 'I actually draw a portion of his pages'.
I'd love to know what portion. Just backgrounds, figurework too, just layouts, etc?

I met Neal Adams' shadow freelance artist here in Richmond as he lives in the area. We ran into one another at military model convention when it turns out he is good friends with someone I know. He does a lot of work behind the scenes he really doesn't get credit for, as NA sub-contracts to him so as to keep up with deadlines. Amazing artist!
Yet he lives in a trailer, just scrapes by as a living, and yet his Batman pages would be in high demand. But they have someone else's name on the page. So it is an industry that feeds on itself.
Well well well, isn't that interesting. Is Neal going all Pat Lee on us? Though at least he's got an excuse at his age.

I can't believe we're approaching 2022 and Wizard is still relevant. Sure it's not the magazine, but it's something.

Just got notice from Amazon that Fantastic Four omni by Lre/Kirby volume 4 has been pushed back a couple of weeks. No big deal, but thought I'd mention it here in case anyone else had it preordered elsewhere.

I understand that you're basically just using a creator's character's name and/or moniker. They change the appearance to be modern, change the stories, etc. But a measly $5k? I think that may have flew in Phase 1, but the MCU was a cash cow for about a decade.
I dunno, Winter Soldier was pretty spot on appearance wise, probably the most accurate they've had, tbh.

Now we know why Jim Starlin noted he made more from BVS than he did across all the Infinity Saga.
Thanos Creator Was Paid More for ‘Batman v. Superman’ Than All Marvel Movies Combined
Like someone noted about the MCU run...
And Ed Brubaker said he got more in residuals for his cut Winter Soldier cameo than for actually creating Winter Soldier, and plotting something else they used in a film/show.

Nice piece of art to own! I'll never get used to that, over here we had the Probotector versions of the game.

In a way, I'm kind of jealous of 'em. When I discovered The FF in the early 70s, I was a teeny bopper. Now I'm a couple years shy of 60, and they haven't seemed to age that much. I do remember Johnny going to college back in the 60s. Has he even graduated yet?
I think when he went supernova on the campus and did some damage they kinda ended that storyline pretty definitively.
Edit: FF #371.

Pics of the FF Retro Wave are up. We get the whole team, plus Pulse exclusive Invisible Sue and Powered Down Johnny (not happy about this), plus Psycho Man and The High Evolutionary.

Wow, no idea Kang was a wrestler.
Neither did Krang. And do they always ask for a cigarette break 3 minutes into the match?

New additions: first year hardcover of Dan Slott's Fantastic Four run. Not great by any means, but it was cheap, and my magic word, 'hardcover'.
That Fantastic Four Epic Collection volume I complained about above, the New FF, I did end up getting a copy. Cost me too much, it arrived dinged up, but at least I've got the dang book. Less said on that one the better.
Then just some miscellaneous tpbs. I know it's all FF heavy, but that's just because there's been no X-Men or JSA releases for me lately (besides the UXM4 omni I already mentioned), nor anything else I've wanted. So FF it's been, just filling gaps.

Interesting idea.
Possibly something nerdier, though, such as a tether for space walking.
Sadly, this does ring truer than the other options. Damnit, Reed.

Is it that thick matte stock, the stuff that they use on their Masterworks, and early omnibus', if you recall or have had any of them?
The only one that had really bad paper was the first Layton Iron Man. The thinner stock is fine, I just couldn't trade down from the thick matte paper to the glossy thin paper. Yeah it bulks out the book, but it gives a much better reading experience IMO, despite the difference in reading comfort.
