I did too! I spent many a quarter at CiCi's pizze playing Turtles in Time on the Arcade of course today, I would choose to be next door to a gamestop
Out of curiosity, why Gamestop? IMO they're the next Blockbuster. Also a potential competitor to a comic store in that they do sell POPs and statues and stuff, seeing as physical video games are in a huge decline.
As for the store, mate, that is beautiful. I love the clean gallery look. One question though, how noisy is it though when you're walking through there? I feel like my footsteps would be amplified, and it's making me anxious just looking at it! Looks great though. Chuck a vintage arcade machine or something in there for kicks and you're all set.

What the...?!?! How did you know it was Claremont?
Okay, that's plain hilarious. What are the odds it happened to be the same guy?!

I'm Aussie, so it's very rare for us to get creators over here, and even rarer the further you go back. With that rarity goes price, as it obviously costs a lot to fly them here and accommodate them. I've idolised Claremont since I was young, and have purchased many signed books of his, but the chance to meet him and get one in the flesh? Heaven!
Get there, slapped down my money to get my sig and say a quick hello, welcome to Australia, and thank you for providing me with some of the pivotal stories of my youth that meant so much to me then and still resonate with me today, and.... I didn't get to say ANY of that, as the shushed me, and immediately turned back to continue a conversation with Greg Capullo, and waved me away after he'd scribbled on the book. All I got to say was 'Huh', and a sorta half smile as a grimaced attempt to be polite as a thank you. That attempt to be polite? Got me a second 'move along' movement from him. All within a half-second. This quality interaction all took place for the low-low price of 35 or 40 bucks AU.
The book went straight in the trash. It had never been about the book, though. The book was to be my link to the memory of meeting Claremont, and the joy of that moment, of finally getting my 30 seconds to greet him and say thanks. It was now as trashed as my opinion of him.
Eff that guy.

Terrific Productions will look up and shout "We're the next Image partner!"... and Erik Larsen will look down and whisper "No."

I've had good experiences with all the comic idols I've met except one and I would chalk that up to just one of those things. It wasn't a negative experience per se, it didn't affect my enjoyment of his work and it didn't cause me to run around talking bad about him.
I've said it before, but I like saying it, so I'll say it again: Chris Claremont, you're an arsehole.

Yeah... here's the thing... you gotta be careful with those... an awful lot were actually auto-penned by his secretary.
I've even seen one that was supposedly signed 3 days after he died!

Okay, I see where I got the 62 from. Please disregard that for now, I'm not convinced it's entirely reputable. It COULD be right, but for now I wouldn't rate it.

His real name is Robert S Jalali. I believe he is about 62. Currently at UC Davis.

Apples and oranges. Sellers cannot "charge back" an item already delivered. Buyers, however, can charge back a credit card payment.
Are we done now...?
That's assuming he paid via credit card. While he probably did, it may not have been the case. Doing so would also eliminate one of the two forms of protection he enjoys in this scenario, that being the ability to complain to Paypal, and then if he's unhappy with the outcome, to appeal to the card provider to have them investigate. And beyond THAT he'd also be cutting his 'warranty time' in half, and maybe even more, as PayPal allows for claims to be filed for up to 6 months, while credit cards usually max out at 90 days.
So yeah, there's quite a few reasons why it would not be in his best interests to do as you requested, and that's not even accounting for the general inconvenience of doing a credit card disputed transaction versus a PayPal dispute. A PayPal dispute is generally over with in days to a week, while a CC dispute can take up to 6-8 weeks, and can involve copious amounts of manual paperwork and trips to the bank. That's an inconvenience that many just don't have time for.

Yet he's actually updated his LinkedIn within the last 6 hours to ADD the Berkbridge Foundation. That's confusing.

I'm strictly referring to the 'original packing materials' part. Ignore the photos. I'm saying that it's possible (though unlikely) he could've interpreted the 'IMPORTANT' sentence to mean just the actual internal packing materials, ie the peanuts and bubblewrap, but not the box itself. That's what I meant.
Either way, really minor point, and not worth arguing about.

send the remains back to me, and I'll get you a full refund. IMPORTANT: PLEASE INCLUDE ALL ORIGINAL PACKING MATERIAL..."
Buyer did not, apparently, send back the damaged box as requested. I asked that it all be shipped back in a new box, not just simply reuse the old box....as I deal with maybe 1 return every 5 years, I never imagined that the buyer would interpret that to mean "get rid of the old box", especially after I very clearly said "send the remains back to me."
So, did the buyer do anything wrong...? You be the judge.
12 minutes ago, RockMyAmadeus said:As for the box...again, I said "take pictures of the box, and send the remains back to me." Not sure how that can be misinterpreted, but as long, bitter experience has shown me, if it CAN be misinterpreted, it WILL be, and the job of a lawyer is to come up with every conceivable misinterpretation possible (and a few that aren't) and account for them.
I was responding to the exact wording you used.

In the buyers (somewhat) defence, I could see them possibly interpreting 'packing materials' as meaning all the internal stuff, ie the packing peanuts and all that, but not the box itself. It's be weird, but it's a usage I have heard.
I also have to agree I wouldn't change the address. It's not done as a seller, so there's no way I'd take the chance as a buyer, either. As far as it matching what was on the box it was sent out in? Okay, but does that one need to be verified first? I don't know, and I'm not taking that chance. It says send to (A), I'm sending it to (A), unless I receive a formal notice from Paypal informing me otherwise. You want me to hold it while you organise that? That's fine. But otherwise, sorry, that's where it's going.
As for the refund, if eBay insists it's fine that the package was shipped to the correct city, I'd totally accept that. I'd notify them that the refund will be given to a random person in the buyer's city, and you'll provide them proof of that. That IS how it works, after all, right?

Further confirmation that Jalali is in full panic "delete EVERYTHING!' mode: he's now completely nuked his personal Facebook account. I noticed the other day that sometime within the last year he'd defriended absolutely everyone, but of course I have of knowing when that was done. Now it's completely deleted.

This is a weird question, and I'm not accusing anybody of anything. A few days ago, in continuation of an ongoing chain of emails with Berkbridge requesting documentation, things hit a roadblock. I went to check up on that today, and that day's emails were gone. Just from that Berkbridge chain, nothing else. I've never had anything like this happen before, and am completely baffled.
I hadn't checked my email since, so no way had I deleted them (nor would I have, I don't delete emails), and I still had everything from them from a certain point before that. Just everything after that was gone. It wasn't in my inbox, wasn't in my trash, it was like it never existed.
Does anybody have any idea how such a thing could have happened?
I guess I'm VERY lucky I had copies of it all on my Sent Mail, so it's all restored, and backed up now, so no chance of it going astray now. Weird how the emails that went missing were the ones where Berkbridge told me they were ending the 'conversation' even though I'd agreed to pay for printing costs and postage, and to provide a US address for postage purposes.

How is the seller away? They have a TEAM of volunteers, remember? Enough to have multiple volunteers active outside of business hours.

To be fair, Kav, they did offer to make Ryan Stegman a star. They could do wonders for his career, as he's only Marvel's biggest talent at the moment. Small potatoes!

Has anybody else been following this train wreck? I can't look away. It's obvious this guy is delusional and hasn't looked at the industry since the early 90's, and is just clueless as to how things work these days. And the Twitter account, dear lord!

Jobs was, ultimately, a insufficiently_thoughtful_person, IMO.
