  1. And it was always a head scratch that not only have the comics not really resembled the movies, but the characters within did not resemble the movies- "Hey I just saw the Avengers Age of Ultron and Thor Ragnorok, and I am interested in the Hulk. What is out right now?"....."Oh....well, uh....there is this kid named Amadeus Cho who is now the Hulk, because Bruce Banner is dead".....huh?!?
  2. I am sure they made some money in advertising, much like newspapers. In those old books you had like 40 ads on a page selling everything from a Certificate in Drafting to X-Ray glasses. Not much of that going on in today's books.
  3. I think you covered them. Maybe I would switch out Robin with the Green Lantern or Flash just for kicks.
  4. Replacing Ghost Rider with one of those two would suit me.
  5. Anybody buy it? This is a lineup I can get behind (with maybe the exception of Ghost Rider). Kind of the same old Galactic Doomsday theme, but I like the art (aside from the disproportionate 'School of Rob Liefeld' She-Hulk on the cover), and I think I will be on board for awhile. Good to see the Big 3 back together, and Marvel knows it.
  6. It's just ink on paper. There are so many more things to life.
  7. Bingo. I think that's it. Sellers remorse, followed up with "Wait! If I held onto them another 20 years I could have gotten what?!?! I'll show these nerds! 10x mark ups from now on!!".
  8. Good luck to all parties involved. His 2-1 record seals his HOF ballot for me.
  9. Any company using the word MINT, not associated with the Government or The Girl Scouts, is up to the snake oil sales. The comic book (as we know it) has been around since what....the 1920's, Printed as a form of entertainment to be read and usually thrown away, the medium is still going strong today. This item, from what I understand, is not even a full reprint. Rather a reprint of a cover, of one of the most desirable comics made. What you are buying is laced in silver, given a meaningless GEM MINT 10 Grade, and marketed in a way, that makes the buyer think they are getting something rare/special. This reeks of the nonsense they did in the 1990's with collectibles. If you enjoy it, that's cool. Nothing wrong with buying something you enjoy. I wouldn't give you the price of the silver for it.
  10. It's the gimmick play that ruins it. Variants- gimmick. 1 of 1 super rare rookie- gimmick. Things we collect, do well without the gimmicks. When people start placing extreme values on something that hasn't even been released or in the public's hands yet, that is not good for the hobby (sports cards in this case). Sure this baseball card will not affect the comic book side. But you are seeing similar things again, trying to pry peoples money away under the guise of - "if it's rare, it must be worth it" in our hobby." This New Zealand Mint recent release is very reminiscent of the crapola from the 1990's. GEM MINT 10 Graded by CGC if you like.
  11. Only if they were GEM MINT 10......oh hey lookit that.....
  12. Well somebody enjoyed them, because they initially sold. They just don't resell well. So how many of these are you buying? Gem Mint 10's baby!
  13. I can agree with this to an extent, but this is one example of the this pre-manufactured collectible that is once again permeating the hobbies. Super Rare chase cards = Super Rare variant covers.
  14. Yep. And some fools have nothing but time and $60K lying around to find out. Listen, I don't care what people do with their own money, I just choose to keep a level head, and laugh when the dust settles. Because it does settle.
  15. i repeat. $60,000 for a card of a guy that has a total of 3 games under his belt. We aren't talking about a vintage Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth or Mickey Manle card. This guy could crash & burn. This is foolish, & somewhat similar to short print variants that people get their panties in a wad over.
  16. $60K for a baseball card for a player with 3 games under his belt. Look out belooooooowwwww.....<<splat>>! https://sports.yahoo.com/shohei-ohtani-card-going-60000-isnt-even-yet-044305844.html
  17. He did such a Cracker Jack job on Secret Empire. Every writer should just have the Cosmic Cube in their back pocket, so they can bastardize a characters legacy, only to say...'just kidding'. He's a tool! (no capital 'T' for him!)
  18. Was the person a CGC employee? In all seriousness, just because something is graded, doesn't mean it's desirable. What you have mentioned will pretty much cover that description. Save your money, and buy a cool comic.
  19. The Nazi's stole rare art from other people/other countries. Would you want anything from their stash? I am not comparing the ghouls who took Stan's blood to what the Nazi's did, but yeah, I kind of am. As Adamantium said....'standards'.
  20. I certainly recognize, and feel there was a need for a 3rd party service, especially buying online. I think this is great for high dollar, high profile books. As a buyer, comics values are based on condition, which immediately affect the dollar you spend. No different than a car. Rarely do you buy a car straight from internet pictures and descriptions, but I know someone who did. What I don't agree with, is everybody sending just about anything to CGC. Does your 5.0 random bronze age Fantastic Four need to be encapsulated? Your variant, that you over-speculated on, which will wind up being cover price in a few months in your LCS box worth it? Stop clogging up the pipeline. BTW, spare us your 'pain of the world' speech Bono. Put it in a song, and get over yourself.
