  1. A scratch on the K film could create that on the plate.
  2. Cool page. I used to work with Peter on Doctor Strange. Nice guy.
  3. Super hero movies are real cinema. He just doesn't like them much like "Real" artists and intellectuals pooh pooh comics as NOT art. My painting professor hated comics and derided them any chance he got. I pointed out one day that one of the greatest works of art is essentially sequential paneled art. The Sistine chapel, especially the ceiling to me looks like a comic with its exaggerated musculature and dramatic depiction. Even within the industry when I was introducing photoshop coloring to Marvel and elsewhere people actually said it wasn't "Real" coloring because it wasn't done by the hand. He just doesn't like it or the way that its done. I would be interested in seeing a Scorsese directed SH movie.
  4. I liked Hawk and Dove. Never really read the New Mutants. He just left the rails when he went to help form Image. No editorial control destroyed him IMO.
  5. My first recollection of big pouches was The Dark Knight Returns.
  6. There is no such thing as a 9.9/10. Yes, CGC has put some on labels but those same books removed an resubbed to CGC they would not get that grade IMO.
  7. So if someone resubmits a 9.6 until it does finally receive a 9.8 grade then is it a 9.6 or a 9.8?
  8. When I know what it is selling for and so does the dealer yet it is priced > 30% above I may ask "what can you do on this." I think this is a fair question and most times I get an answer that gets it into the ballpark and I buy it. Sometimes I will just make an offer and every offer I made at Chicago this year was excepted. I think because they were fair. Looking at ebay prices is exhausting to me. When one buys a book say on CL and then immediately lists it on ebay for twice as much and sits forever just boggles my mind. It seems there better places to park your money in my opinion. I do understand asking more to cover ebay fees but some folks with extreme BIN and no offer just seems silly.
  9. Comics are a niche product/hobby. SS comics are a niche of a niche. If you like them over non signed then by all means have at it but as an investment no thank you.
  10. I would just keep them as is, there is always time to get them slabbed in the future. Currently if they don't hold much value unless they are 9.8 copies. There are plenty of HG copies out there both slabbed and raw.
  11. I assume every graded book I buy has been pressed.
  12. I have seen Detached covers get a 9.6. I am going to say a CGC 9.2.
  13. Just based on Overstreet I would say it isn't NM. Its a nice looking book but with Off-white pages.
  14. I Don't like having sigs on coves. Having stated that, I would want both creators if it were possible. Rob is much maligned but he did co-create the toon and it still maintains the signature look it had from day 1.
  15. I think some people like a particular cover artist and seek those out so a popular cover artist of a book that maybe has fewer distributed copies sells for more. Some collectors still try and follow the completist path (sad for them) and companies prey on this. Fear of missing out may play into it. I think the question could apply to any comic really. Collectors could have bought Iron Man #219 anytime from its release to a year ago for $1 and picked up a CGC 9.8 for like $40 but when the ghost appeared in the Ant man movie prices shot up north of $400. Why would someone be interested now? Ghost isn't that interesting of a character and hasn't made that many appearances. Now that the hype is dying down its last sale was $175 and will continue to sink IMO.
  16. Mike Mignola? Never seen so much rocky terrain and tall grass.
  17. Wait in the First line for 45 minutes to sign in for a time to get in the second line to drop off. I would just Mail them in and call it a day. Your time is probably worth more than the cost of postage. This is a nightmare process. It was a 3.5 hour wait to get to actually drop off. Nothing express about it.
