  1. Iron Man is a dog as far as being perceived as a good comic to collect. Fortunately I like IM and keep putting together my high grade run. Dealers never have a good inventory of IM to the point I just stop looking. I still need a HG copy of 219 but going to wait on that one as some ebay folks think they are going to get north of $700 for it.
  2. Trying to compile a high grade run of Iron Man and want to upgrade my 8.5 OO copy but am going to wait until all this Avengers stuff has run its course before I get the 9.6 copy I want. So yeah I think it is overpriced, at least for me.
  3. Here is a CBCS that sold 2 months ago in 9.8 for $1650. https://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Batman-Adventures-12-Sep-1993-DC-CBCS-9-8/382778071925?epid=85465166&hash=item591f59db75:g:pkAAAOSwTwtcXRIg My point is why risk the drop. Sell it and pay the up-charge for the CGC 9.8. Personally, though I buy mostly CGC books I think CBCS are on par and have no problem picking one up if the price is right or it is a scarce book to get like my CBCS ASM 114.
  4. And a whole bunch which actually sold, all in the $800's
  5. And if it comes back a CGC 9.6 what can you get for it?
  6. Sell it and buy a CGC 9.8 if that's what you want. Selling a CBCS 9.8 versus coming back a CGC 9.6 will not net the same amount of money. I have a CBCS ASM 129 9.6 and it looks great, every bit as nice as my CGC 9.6's. If I ever plan on getting a CGC version then I will buy one and sell this as is.
  7. I don't know if I could have let go of that. Impressive run for sure. I colored Spawn one time for conjure magazine. It was a gate fold cover.
  8. I am still a run person. But I do not get into the variants thing. Before vol. 3 I had nearly all the ASM Variants and then it got real stupid. I sold almost all of the variants and just trying for a ASM 100-441 and IM 1- 332. It can be a little hard but I pick something up every month that I need. It sounds like your Spawn run was pretty fantastic.
  9. What about the spawn run wrecked you? is there some impossible books in Spawn run?
  10. If this is your "Grail" book then I imagine you will never part with it. I would keep it as is and wait for a better one to come to market, buy that and sell this one.
  11. Agree with this. Slight stress at upper staple, a couple of non color breaking dents on spine. One slight spine tick and a slightly blunted bottom corner. Great book!
  12. I am against the defacing of the cover with sigs. I do own one though I must admit.
  13. I never even realized it was in the silver age section. I sort by newest comments. I just saw the title and thought this is the Spider-Man thread.
  14. But they already do grader notes on grades lower than 9.6. Why would grader notes on a 9.4 not be a trade secret but on a 9.6 it is?
  15. I still have mine from my pre-press days where it was used to examine the film used to make printing plates. They are handy to see the spine and corners or to catch color touch if you know what to look for.
  16. If I want 9.8's for my collecting focus and I send in 25-50 books for pre-screen and only 5 books make the grade it would help to know how they grade. Bdcause A. Save me time in sending books in and B. Save me money based on the $5 rejection fee per book and shipping. CGC clearly does not adhere to Overstreet Grading standards which everyone else uses so it would be nice to learn what CGC considers a 9.8.
  17. Only the first one probably. ASM 194 9.8 has doubled in the last year or two. Grab a 9.6 at a discount if you like the character. If she pops up in a movie it will most likely rise but I am keeping my copies.
  18. Same for ASM 212. Mine is a newsstand 9.6 but like Iron man #219 I will wait until until the prices come back to earth before upgrading.
  19. I find most 9.6's that I have seem to have slight issues on the spine corners. I use a power 10 loop to look at these and if you see anything at all like a scuff or a fray that may be your culprit. Whether or not such a thing SHOULD knock it out of a 9.8 is something else altogether.
