  1. My preference is 9.6 White pages. I have thought about selling some of my doubles I have like 129,194, 238, 252, 300 etc. to help pay for it but I have had the 7.0 for 40 years and I am not quite ready to part with it.
  2. Yeah that's true. I didn't think about that as I already have a 7.0 and a 9.6 and haven't been looking at those prices. I just looked and see what you mean.
  3. 55 is one of my all time favorites. If I dip below 100 again that will be one of the first ones I go after!
  4. I lost all my silver age ASM to flooding so I doubt I will ever go for those again but 100-up and the keys there are very doable (except 101 LOL). That is my collecting focus anyway. The 101 in high grade is beyond my reach at this point so my focus may change to 102-UP LOL.
  5. To me this is not a 9.2. I use Overstreet Grade definitions and I am pretty sure this is not allowed. 8.5 at best IMO.
  6. I primarily look for Iron Man 1-100 9.6 White pages 101-332 9.8 White pages. And ASM 100-199 9.6 white pages. I realize how narrow this focus is and I understand why a dealer may not have these kind of books. I have in the past contacted dealers about shows beforehand but admittedly I am not very consistent. Either Iron Man is super HOT and that's why I can't find them or it is so dismal that dealers don't bring them. Because my focus is so narrow I am in tune on what these books are running and sometimes the prices are just too inflated. I am ok with haggling but sometimes not so much. I get what your saying about not bringing everything.
  7. I find it is all about keys and I don't doubt that drives what dealers bring. I am a run collector albeit only two titles so my collecting habit has a narrow focus but I find it difficult to find what I am looking for.
  8. I don't mind putting them on blast. I only go to C2E2 for one day and had a box of 25 books to drop off for pre- screen. All paper work already created only needed to do the hand off. I show up to a long line (1030am), then found out that THAT line was to sign up for a time to actually get in the second line to actually drop stuff off. they would text you when you could get in the second line. I left the show somewhere around 5ish and while heading home on i94 I get the text to get in the second line. so I missed it and would have just mailed them in if I knew it was such a hassle. They shouldn't even offer this service if they can't deliver. It just seems dumb. Last year was a long line but I just thought it would be better this year. I won't try that again.
  9. Definitely NOT St. Louis Wizard! I only counted 3 booths primarily selling comics. There were a couple of boxes here and there but what a dismal show. I went home empty handed at C2E2 this year too. There were plenty of books just not what I was looking for and when I found something I would buy it was always more than what I would spend on it. I think I will just mostly buy at auctions from now on. I like C2E2 as a show though. CGC "Express" drop off was a joke.
  10. I pulled out an OO spider book to read from 1987 and I found this. I thought I would share.
  11. First book I bought off the stands. Shopping with mom at Kroger's. glwts.
  12. Really just don't jump into it like that. Bad idea. It takes equipment and time and patience and space to learn to do it. You would want to practice A LOT on crappy books and only when you get good and good results would you want to do it on a book in your collection. There are other options besides CSC.
  13. I don't look at those ratings. I only read negative feedback to see what's up and can usually tell if it is worth my time. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
  14. I do see a couple of color breaking spine ticks but based on the front and back cover I wouldn't have a problem buying a 9.6 that looks like this and I hate spine ticks.
  15. Well I don't know much Spawn past the first 20 issues or so and I am an avid IM collector. I don't go in for the 9.9 shenanigans as I doubt they exist. How many 9.9 resubs would come back 9.9? I do like Spawn, colored Spawn once professionally for a magazine cover and own a Spawn 1 9.8. I would buy the most rare Spawn I can get for the price.
  16. Agreed. 7.0ish range. Overall a nice looking book with some defects. Corner rubbing, right edge stress, and stress around the staples.
  17. Depends on your collecting goals/preference. For me I would not slab it. I usually do not slab bronze era books that are not 9.0 or above or if I plan on selling it and it is cost effective to do so. Personal preference really in my opinion.
  18. Personally I understand Capt. America's reserved nature more as having both my grandfathers in WWII. They were both reserved individuals and I think having seen so much carnage at a young age impacted their personalities. My grandfather who was in the Pacific theater told me once of an island he was on that he couldn't take a step anywhere on the island without stepping on a dead person. Capt. Marvel may have had a similar experiences to Capt. America but as an audience member it is easier for me to wrap my mind around Steve Rogers.
  19. I would have left but I didn't want to wake my son up.
  20. Went to see this tonight. It was ok but the cinematography wasn't very good. It was so dark I could hardly make much out. Maybe it will be better when its on my TV when it drops on Netflix.
