  1. Not in the best of shape, but this was not easy to find! --ElJay
  2. Decent Italian Schiavona! The blade markings (Sahagum + running wolf) date the blade in the middle of the 1600s, but the style of hilt could also be from about that time. I couldn't say for sure just from the photo. That's also a really cute little French flintlock that you posted with your signed document! --ElJay
  3. I have collected antique swords since the early 1970s. Here's photos of a couple of them - the first is German, ca. 1580-1620. The next two are of an English "Mortuary" sword, ca. 1650. The last two are of an English cavalry officer's sword, ca. 1780
  4. Picked this up off eBay this year. Mega spine roll, tear at the staple, a couple of loose pages, but I like it! In spite of the condition, this was a book that I was excited about and quite pleased to find. The second image is the inside back cover. While it does encourage the reader with "Reddy Dough" (ready cash) to purchase bonds, the art and story seem to indicate that an editor just grabbed someone to crank out a comic page in order to fill up that back cover! --ElJay
  5. AJD had a thread where the focus was on War Bonds and Stamp covers. I'd post a link, but can't get any results out of the search engine. --ElJay
  6. My father was a B-29 bomber pilot in both WW2 and Korea, but was never sent into combat. The reason for that is an interesting story in itself that I'll save for some other time. Dad was proud of his time in the service, and regaled his children with many stories of his days in the Air Force. Since this is a comics forum, one of the goals I have is to honor my father by collecting all of the comics showing a B-29 on the cover. When I achieve this goal I'll post them here on the forum. --ElJay
  7. I thought that, too, but then noticed it wasn't a thread by Ricksneatstuff.
  8. I should've grabbed that Archie 78 yesterday. Oh well, you snooze, you lose. Guess I'll go back to bed!
  9. If anyone has a coverless Star Spangled 19, I'm interested! Thanks in advance! --ElJay
  10. I note that Archie 28 is on hold..... if the negotiations don't work out, let me know and I'll take it. Thanks! --ElJay
  11. Alright! A new Robotman Sales Thread!
  12. How does one find the event calendar on the new boards? Maybe I'm blind, but I can't find it (and yes, I used the search feature and entered multiple search terms). Thanks very much! --ElJay
  13. One of my favorites is Pep 27 (Which I don't have. Maybe someday...), and I don't think that it has been posted yet. Does anyone have a photo of the book that they can include in this thread? --ElJay
  14. Wonderful collection, and great to see them all in one place. But what I really appreciate is the number of comics that are not in minty condition, and thus are (probably) not priced stratospherically. There's hope for those of use who don't have very deep pockets! --ElJay
  15. War Heroes 3,6 and 7 has great back covers. Here's a link to an archived page with all 3 shown: http://cgcforum.gpanalysis.com/cgcforum_thread.asp?pagenumber=1591&ThreadID=1628473&forumID=15&threadName=Golden+Age+Collection
  16. Saw it for sale here on the boards on Dec. 3. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough on the draw! --ElJay
  17. Hi Rick I guess all I can say is "Holy high rollers, Batman!"
  18. The cover of Captain Midnight 23 has him rounding up escapees from a "Japanese Prison Camp". But no camp is specified. --ElJay
  19. I was really surprised by the hammer price on that Zip 34. I had expected it to go for somewhere around $800! Guess it's still a seller's market. --ElJay
  20. Congrats on the Action 58! That one has been on my list for over a year, but I haven't yet found that right $/eye appeal ratio. --ElJay
