  1. Spidey is by far my favourite superhero. There are tons of awesome covers in his many runs - but ASM 101 is my all time favorite cover. Reason? I LOVE the 6 arm spider-man. As a fan of old time monster movies - Morbius is a supper cool character to face off against our friendly neighbourhood hero.
  2. As a premium member ' the extra features aren't important to me. I do it for one reason. I want CAF to stay around and be in business because I enjoy it so much. Its like supporting artists with patreon or having a digital newspaper subscription. Sure I can get content for free - but if I want a business whose services I wish to continue - I support it.
  3. Old man deadpool and Spidey in a wheelchair. Wtf?! Exactly why I had to have it. New cover art by Scott Hepburn. CAF link
  4. If any of you reading this liked using CAT and think it could be useful to you (especially if you tried it before the blocking of some dealer sites) - I encourage you to do as I have: email the dealers on the list that you know personally and tell them why you like CAT and why they should support it by asking Bill At CAF to unblock the searches. If enough folks talk to their dealer friends, we may get a grassroots type of movement to have better search available for all us comic art fans. I just want everyone to get along and make collecting comic art a better experience.
  5. Attn: vendors. If you are one of the dealers above - you need to consider comicarttracker - as a way better model. Its kind of what uber is to cabs. It is more efficient. It doesnt add any work to you - but allows folks to buy from you. As a collector that has bought from a bunch of you dealers - I want you to know if you read this that I use CAT daily to see what is new. It saves me time. It will lead to more sales. Think about it. For Bill: I still support CAF as a premium member. Visit the site daily. Click on the links. you are not helpful to your members by blocking a new system that promotes comic art, created by a fan.
  6. Can you show the spidey art? Not familiar with Mark Jewelers. To answer the main question - i buy only a few comics(new and old) - condition not a factor. Not a fan of slabs - as I like to look INSIDE comics. Its strictly for fun with no resale expectations. Art on the othet hand is a challenge and an addiction.
  7. respectfully wondering - if you can share your experience with this? when you went back and offered to sell the art months or years later - did any original buyers take you up on it? and how did you handle the increase in price if any? art has been going up for the past few years - so its hard to imagine a person selling a piece of art and asking to buy it back at a substantially higher amount (although it could happen.) In speaking to other collectors - a lot of them, have a hard time paying current market for stuff that was available to them previously for much less. In my mind, that is analogous to a situation where they have to buy a piece back at a higher price. just interested in your thoughts.
  8. Exactly. I think it HAS TO BE an impulse buy.. nobody PLANS to buy stuff they never heard of or had a connection to in advance. Incidentally I have overspent impulsively at an auction before. Happy to report not doing that any more.
  9. Wondering if folks would agree - when it comes to buying art with characters/subjects you dont follow/know or by artists you aren't a fan of first - PRICE is a big factor. I find that I am willing to spend considerably more on nostalgic pieces than on modern pieces even when the art quality is comporable and the subject/characters are similar. So for art that I have zero connection to (or possibly better way to say it - share no collecting history with) I am less likely to spend big on it. This is art I would buy for purely artistic reasons. I love the scene and the technique the artist used in making it - but my zest to overspend is not there. Is that true for others?
  10. Some great photos. Seems al lot of great art is making its way overseas. Thanks gor all the insights.
  11. I'll admit to not having the best luck either -but what has worked best for me is to hang the art vertically and take a picture that way. I use painters tape on the back to hang it, so no damage comes to the art. Then I take it to the computer and crop out the extra stuff around the art. taking a wider shot allows me to have a better flatter image. I also try and have bright sunlight on the art for the picture taking to avoid shadows and for improving brightness. it's still not as good as scanning -but so far i am not excited to go out and buy a scanner.
  12. a few years back Clink had the Wolverine Miller cover up for auction. I seriously considered talking with my wife to get a mortgage to try and go for it. I never asked. Art should be fun, and while it can be an investment - it's important to feel comfortable with the budget. The Wolvie cover would have been way above my pay grade. I think it sold for $65k. Possibly a bargain by todays' standards?
  13. I didn't feel prices were low for the better stuff. There were a lot of 'filler' pages/sketches that went cheap if you were interested in them. The really nice stuff went at market. At least the items I was following. I won 2 items, neither of which were comic art.
  14. Most everything I was watching went over my expectations. It seemed like all prices were at starting rates until today -when a bunch of stuff jumped. Overall though, this was one of the smaller illustration auctions of the past couple of years. For those that care - there has been several illustration art pieces (all lower priced pieces) in each of the last few Heritage Sunday auctions. Since nostalgia is not a factor on these for me, I found those pieces quite interesting based on style and subject matter. The Addams family piece was not too early by Addams standards, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of finished Addams family pieces out there. Most of his cartoons feature other characters. I recall seeing a small color illustration by Chas Addams at the Illustration House booth a few years back. It was in a dollar store (style) frame on the floor at the back of the booth. When I inquired how much it was - I was told $50,000. Today I read an article saying they want to make a new animated Addams Family movie based on the old cartoons. Clearly interest in the kooky family is not dead.
  15. You are using logic This not good. Stop it! ?
  16. Well in my case I might want to look for new cover or splash pages, paintings etc.. only because loading is not too fast - so having it shorten the list - I can see those items only. When i go to dealer or auction websites i often sort by category. The new section is great for a person like me who has a wide taste in art - but a focus on format ( interior vs. Covers). For example i never get sketches or sketch covers or comic strips - so having those out of the list makes the list more relavent. Btw - its awesome what you have done by creating the site!
  17. @NicoV love the website. For the whats new section on the first page - it would be great if it were possible to sort the list. Example by art type (covers, interiors etc..) or by artist last name.. rather than just by source.
  18. thanks for the info. Sadly, he doesn't have any of the old stuff any more. looking for that airbrushed style he had back in the day.
  19. hi, if you have any Ken Steacy art you might want to sell, please let me know. Prefer marvel fanfare works, but also looking for vortex cover and artwork created for silver snail posters as well as now comics covers. open to seeing whatever you might have.
  20. Hey James - just wondering - did CC frame the art - or is that the way you gave it. (Love the Framing)
