  1. I think the first x-men comic I got was 176. So I am right there with you. At the same time seeing the thor - my favorite thor issue is 356 with hercules. Dave M has the cover on CAF. (Sighh.)
  2. So after listening to the recent Felix podcast with the founder of Heritage - I got to thinking about some of my favorite comic covers from my peak nostalgia priod. Covers that I was excited about as a kid. We all have a different nostalgia period, so we all have different favorites. Often when we think of that influencial nostalgia period we think about comics that came out at that time - but this doesnt have to be the case. For Jim Halperin - he loved EC comics that came out earlier than his nostalgia period. Sometimes these first comics you lived were handy me downs or yard sale purchases or other such finds. For me that period wad 1985-1991. While I loved every comic I bought - my most memorable 3 covers are as follows. The chances that I will ever own these is microscopic - but that's not the point of this thread. So tell us the period and then show 3 of the most memorable covers from your nostalgia period. Obviously it is hard to narrow down - but there are no wrong choices. The new boards make posting images easy - so post the pictures to make this more fun! Or if you want to make us dig, a list will do.
  3. Was the frame off the shelf - or was it custom? I know they have both.
  4. Is that always the case? I thought that was just a mind game. Lots of folks put different things there.
  5. wow. is this a fast turn over or what? can't even imagine the art has been shipped to the new owner already? unless Erik E is MMM? just ended on ebay by Make Mine Marvel $1500.75 aug 3rd ebay and now on CAF $1750 aug 5th. erik e on caf
  6. when this topic was first posted, it made me think of the way Clink packs comic art. And sometimes Heritage. the photos back that up. Bronty packs like a true pro! three cheers for...
  7. the truth is - there is a ton of artwork out there. If you have a wide taste, there is no shortage of great stuff to discover over time. every time I get a piece of art, it means I am not getting something else. So I usually try and not have regrets of this type. I have on occasion though found an item I failed to buy, come up again when the new buyer goes to sell it. I take those opportunities to add to my collection. @Michaeld - was the vendor of the Hellshock piece - Splash Page art? they had a bunch of classic Jae Lee art. I almost picked up a different page myself- but other purchases maxed my spending ability.
  8. The suspense is killing me. What was the art packed in between the 2 boards and packing peanuts?! If you don't mind sharing that is.
  9. Great topic. Pretty much happens with every piece of art I get. One trick that I use to help avoid the anguish on bigger pieces is asking for a better price. I ask, and if the seller accepts I buy it. my decision is made for me. If they dont accept - my decision is also made for me and I can move on. My mind is at rest. There is closure. Having said all that -sometimes I also like to ask other colectors their opinions if I cant decide what to do. Ps - the hellshock is awesome!
  10. Looking for jim lee wildcats splash or cover featuring voodoo or zealot. Also looking for art from the marvel/top cow crossovers - by various artists. Again splashes or covers please (ex elektra/cyblade..etc) Reach me by pm or find me on caf. My caf
  11. Woah! Shatter.. Thats a title I completely forgot about and takes me back in time.
  12. Email Jason at www.Essentialsequential.com Not sure whats left after comic con - but he had a bunch of fun rogue pages by Kubert from x-men that are not on his site. So you would need to email him.
  13. Welcome to art club. Interesting start. Collecting art for the writer. For me - the writer is important, but 2ndry to the art itself when it comes to the original art. Collecting comics on the other hand - the writer is super important. Different medium, different focus. Good luck and keep posting.
  14. Check with Robert Dennis on Caf for a quote. It isnt cheap, but if it improves your enjoyment of the art might be worth it. Alternatively spend the funds on more art instead of restoring.
  15. Looking at the link further I wonder if it is Lee? There is another Lee piece (with sig) and the style is closer to the original. Need to investigate further. Hmmm.
  16. Well don't I feel silly. Wildcats by its creator and I didnt even realize it. Incredible how the style has changed over the years. Would love to see the inked version if Bobby ever gets around to posting it.
  17. Just fyi - your name came up at the art dinner and only good things were said. So its too bad you would ditch your pals for an artist. Ha ha. The xfactor page is great btw! Also worth mentioning - mitch had an awesome xfactor dps or poster art by quesada. Should you care.
