  1. I am thinking more along the lines of "Festivus" come early.
  2. I actually don't even know how to respond to this. Carry on Memento.
  3. So, you're apparently this very experienced seller. You buy a high grade ASM 301 for $30...but what arrives is a beater in perhaps 4.0. So, with all of your experience, you decide, "hey, I think paying $20 for a $4 book is OK because it's better than paying $30....and jeeze, I just don't have time to go to the post office to return the book anyways". This is your story? Really? I have a metric ton of 4.0 beaters I would love to sell you for $10 per....not even $20. You bring cash, I'll give you a pallet of beaters. Good deal, no?
  4. Something is very much amiss in your story. This seems like an incredibly dumb hill to die on.
  5. It has certainly turned into more of a "Seller Beware" platform.....
  6. Well, you're not doing it wrong, it's more a matter of preference on how to deal with it. Yes, you are correct that if you cancel an order as a seller, it does affect your metrics in a negative way.....but if the buyer wanted it cancelled, as long as they request the cancellation in the first few hours, you can accept their request and get your fees back automatically. This does not affect your metrics. If they want to cancel it after that time window, they cannot send a cancellation request as that option has been removed. You can contact eBay, they will review the communication and will cancel the order for you ---simply make sure that the cancellation request is from the buyer, not you. You would get your fees back, nothing affects your metrics and you can just move on (perhaps after blocking that buyer). hope this helps...
  7. I haven't received any messages. He may have just targeted you as I haven't heard of anyone else receiving any message at all. Regardless, JVale would be very wise to try and fully grasp the legal system and its potential ramifications for him personally, his "case" and his wallet.
  8. If this were somehow to "go the distance", he might be in for a very interesting surprise when due diligence and then disclosure comes around and how many people come to light (whether here AND eBay as both will be solicited) on how many times he has been reported doing the same thing. There is an obvious photo evidence trail as well as complaint trail that would be prior to his complaint here---ultimately, all of those would find the light of day. On top of that, inter-state mail fraud would certainly have to be investigated to see just how many occurances and to what degree have taken place. i'm certain he is quite angry being called out and wants to lash out as a result....if he wants to go the legal route, he may just be lighting the bomb that is attached to him.
  9. Oh, I hear you loud and clear....but regardless of any insurance purchased or not, the seller has no idea how eBay works. IE just because he says he doesn't take returns, doesn't, in fact mean, he will not be "forced" to take a return through eBay. I'm with Pontoon who posted above to file a claim with eBay---to get that ball rolling, simply request a return due to receiving an item that was not as described and the seller will enjoy his first heart attack of the day.
  10. This seller has no idea how eBay works.....well, he's going to get a crash course in it shortly.
  11. Lack of empathy is an excellent point---that trait is running rampant currently. So sad actually.
  12. I wonder how much is actually due to eBay policy and how much is due to the general increase in fraudulent e-commerce on the whole.
  13. I think we all agree on that---but nothing will change at all on eBay until they see the number of sellers drop as that would hit their income expectations. If income kept dropping, I would bet they would make some drastic changes to their system or simply risk obsolescence.
  14. I really do not understand such malice by some folks. They must be incredibly unhappy people with very few friends or family.
  15. I've already blocked this person given your experience with them, but after reviewing their current listing in detail, this seller is on an entirely different level of garbage.
  16. Just concluded a 4 figure deal with Jerry for a big lot of ASM goodness! Pricing was great, packaging and shipping time were terrific once again. I wouldn't hesitate to pick up more books from him as he's also a very patient and pleasant person to deal with. Looking forward to our next deal---thanks again Jerry!!
  17. Oh yeah----I'm sure he was very well compensated but this also had ramifications for the industry. As soon as the news broke that Netflix acquired Millarworld, Disney publicly released that they were starting their own streaming service. I'm certain that they were evaluating that avenue for a while....but this just turns up the heat on the race for content. Content that can be branded and expanded even more so.
  18. I think you're correct on this---Netflix acquired the whole company. Millar even publicly commented on how he is an employee now---nothing more.
  19. That's why this community is so respected---great books and great prices....but also dealing with great people!! You just can't beat that!
  20. There must be enough buyers out there that will accept this kind of tripe or this character would be hammered with returns and negatives. I've seen a few of these people out there schlepping books to unsuspecting (read unknowledgeable collectors) buyers....but the ones who really raise red flags to me are the ones that create their own grading methodologies and then justify it after-the-fact.
  21. Great post with a terrific time saving idea---thanks for sharing!
  22. An atrocious message on all fronts---blocked.
  23. There are a lot of folks who really like this cover....I'm not one of them sadly. I personally don't think it will be a winner. There's just something about her face in that art....that and the shiny skin---she looks oily to me.
