  1. The Midnight release parties that happen from time to time have to be approved by DC and/or Marvel. Sometimes, they even agree with each other and it's OK to sell both DC and Marvel at one of those events....but that's not always the case---they exclude each other from time to time as well.
  2. Customers even having access to the books prior to Wednesday is prohibited by Diamond. They use mystery shoppers to check up on stores as well....
  3. Nice grab at your lcs...but I think MCS is sold out again now....
  4. MCS is still showing copies for sale for cover price (limit one per customer)---probably best to act fast if you want one.....
  5. I know there are shops out there that do that...IE crank up the price of "hot" books on release day....but I don't think that they're one of them. At least, I hope not.
  6. Really? Wow. That surprises me as they would probably have ordered a decent amount more than any average shop I think....
  7. It's a very sharp cover in person too vs just the computer screen----clean cover art that simply stands out. I can see this being sought after for quite some time.
  8. That is an excellent example of niche market.....one that I can't play in too often sadly. I'm usually quagmired in the moderns where there are 10+ pages of options...
  9. Smart.....and something that I should really follow up on. Appreciate the tip---thank you!
  10. OK.....well, I feel foolish now. You and RMA are "mad" buyers....or perhaps I'm just a real lazy one.....
  11. Comics are a niche market, but I have to disagree with you on the impact of being pushed down the line. When people are shopping for a book and there a good amount of listings for it, being pushed to the 2nd page is a BIG deal....further than that, even worse. How many times are you shopping for a book on page 3 of the available listed items?
  12. Such a strange request. Basically asking you to confirm the entire transaction----I don't think I've seen that before.
  13. I think the problem was that it registered as an "unconfirmed" address location through PayPal. I've seen that happen myself and this seller may have been concerned about the protection or lack of protection if shipped anyways.
  14. That's weird.....and stupid of this seller.
  15. It's a bad sign that the meth-heads have entered the comic market.....
  16. Well....it is $5 more. Does that count as a bidding war? LMAO! Sorry.....
  17. Wow....has a lot of different variants that I was never aware of. Some of these surprise me too---very unusual names and tiny in comparison to the normal variant runs we see.
  18. It was not a well printed book...but it's not a tiny print run either. As to the amount of variants for #1, there really aren't that many.
  19. You certainly do have a point though---if they were overly indignant right at the beginning, that's a pretty large defensive posture for no good reason. That just might raise a red flag or two on my radar as well.
  20. I hate to say it, but I think you were the architect of your own pain in this situation. I can totally understand your trepidation in dealing with brand new folks, but if you've had experience on eBay for years (like you say), then you've dealt with quite a few new people and should be used to this. If the book is $400 and the guy or girl paid....mail them the book. If the book is $50, mail them the book. If not, why are you not mailing them the book? It was for sale wasn't it? Then you proceed to call someone's integrity into question without any proof....other than they are new. You see how someone could interpret this as you being the total antagonist in this situation..... Now, since you've had experience on eBay, for a $400 item, you should have insisted on priority mail with signature verification....that way, there is at least a signature confirmation that the book was accepted at the correct location. I'm not saying that there aren't unscrupulous people out there.....clearly look at the title of this thread, but new people shouldn't necessarily be avoided because of little to no feedback....and again, there are additional postal options to consider for your added protection.
  21. Not trying to rub salt into your experience, but why on earth would you even offer a shipping method that doesn't allow tracking? To protect yourself ALWAYS get the tracking.....
  22. I'll take these 5 copies too please. (Yes, I am crazy....albeit uncertified)
