  1. Such a cool book! Hawkman:Avis :: Flash:Hertz i.e., the artists always seemed to try harder with the Hawkman covers, with supreme results (IMHO).
  2. Hot off the press from Terry's Comics at Wizard World Chicago. Approx. 95% of the cover is downright gorgeous. There is the small matter of the other 5%, which has "contiguous tape" (sounds better than "long strip of tape") tastefully applied along the spine. Looks like good quality tape, and not egregiously noticeable, as opposed to yellowing Scotch tape. The scan here makes the tape stand out more than it really does. Anyhow, for the price, and the colors, and the supple pages, and the clean GA smell, and the slab-free readability state, I just couldn't say no.
  3. I think swiping was pretty routine back then. No doubt it annoyed people, though some could (kind of) argue that it was all in the category of "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." That said, in this instance it is so blatant: looks like Johnson must have used tracing paper to render his version. LOL!
  4. Thanks to the Watcher for organizing the terrific sushi dinner. Who knew there was such fresh fish in Park Ridge, IL? It was great to meet all you boardies!
  5. Never got a chance to read the whole BangZoom thread. Count me in for a donation to restore his PhotoBucket, and then maybe his photos can be uploaded onto a more reliable server for all those subsequent generations of GA purveyors...
  6. Looking forward! How are people getting from the convention center to the sushi place?
  7. Yes, very nice stuff! So many gems you unearthed in the wilds of the great comic book unknown. Thank you for sharing!
  8. Nice one Rick. Seems like with every book you post, I'm seeing something new that I hadn't noticed before. Like that sad grizzly elephant and the shading on the, uh, leg.
  9. Count me in for a "maybe". Hope to meet all you fine funny book folk! Jay
  10. That is quite a marvelous book! Love that Dr. Crime. Here's hoping Cap and Bucky can figure out how to de-pygmytize themselves!
  11. Where do you find this stuff?? An absolutely spectacular copy. Ah Everett.
  12. Gorgeous!!! Let me know when you tire of it. I also like how the bad guy alien is using the "T" in PLANET to steady himself from Flint's punch to the solar plexus.
  13. Never really noticed the Jungle 99. Yes, it's got something for everyone! And it's a Celardo cover. Celardo doesn't seem to get much love on the boards, but I like him. Planet 12 by Celardo was my first rivet cover, so I do have a soft spot for it.
  14. All's well that ends well! ? And how about that fast shipping!
  15. The HA 8.0 (crm/ow) copy of Wonderworld 7 hammered at $16.7k. Now at about $2k per point, seems to be outpacing even recent (non-ped) sales. As for sheet resistance variation at the wafer edge, well, that's priceless!!
  16. Superb! I love that cover; just haven't had the luck to land a copy.
  17. What did Alex Blum's ladies look like when Blum was solo artist? That might at least help shed light on whether Blum might have drawn the ladies in the Hooks Devlin story (though not necessarily ruling out other Iger ghost artists).
  18. Hmm. Not sure anyone will ever be able to provide a definitive answer... I'm guessing (totally guessing though educatedly totally guessing) that Baker was in the Iger shop in 1945, which would add plausibility anyhow that he drew and inked the chicks.
  19. Congrats Rick! Really great stuff! Where'd you find the OA?
  20. Great stuff -- thanks for sharing! Does it say anywhere who did the illustrations on those two pages?
  21. That's the epitome of indigo goodness, that copy. All those colors really shine. Love it!
  22. Karl, that is one really spectacular copy. The cover screams like a technicolor hallucination shooting through the blue sky. Something like that anyway.
  23. Great looking #6! I'm a proud new member of the club with my recent Larson copy.
