  1. To me it looks like she's handling things pretty well. With a gun, and sandals no less! Great colors btw.
  2. Thanks Ltpink, Gino, Jack, and Jon! I agree, the colors really shine on this 2.0. There's the usual structural problems with the spine and the detached cover, and a stain in the upper left of the cover, but she shows well. And it's really a "win win" for everyone -- I won't be driving up the prices on the upcoming Science 2 copies in the May and the June CC auctions. I can just sit back, relax, and eat popcorn BTW I had uploaded the image from my iPhone; it looked great on the iPhone screen, but now seeing it on my computer, that image is low-res shabbiness. So just for the record, here is a higher res image:
  3. My new girlfriend!! And one of my holy grails too! If only I could figure out how to extract her from that vacuum tube...
  4. Very cool, BB!! It has an uncanny resemblance to this chestnut ⬇️
  5. Or at least maybe "Berked" can be included in the glossary section in the upcoming Overstreet Guide...
  6. Rick, please do share the delicate, sordid, and prurient details about her dangerous encounter.
  7. They're both spectacular copies! I'd be happy with a split spine and detached centerfold! ?
  8. Yep. It's the cover that keeps on giving!! Especially if you own a copy...
  9. Straw-Man, thanks for sharing those weird books. An outstanding run you've got. That #3 is a scream! Love the curves...
  10. Hey Gino. I noticed that you had clocked in at 4,000 posts, but didn't know the party was already raging! Post counts may not "mean" much, but 4,000 is certainly a great excuse to raise our glasses to the Ginius (genius -- see what I did there) of Gino!! Your enthusiasm, generosity, and knowledge are a true credit to these boards. All the way from my hometown, may I present a small token of food heaven: And as the sign says, Gino delivers!!!
  11. What a fabulous book you've got! Grade seems a bit harsh for such a small split, but whadda I know.
  12. I posted this over in the Fox thread, but thought I'd get some feedback from the Lou Fine aficionados (and -- give this thread a bump): I was looking at the gorilla on the cover of Wonder Comics #2. Typical weekend amusement. While viewing said gorilla, his right hand caught my attention. It looked like someone had scribbled some letters around the knuckle creases. At first, I was concerned that my recent purchase had some kid's handwriting on it. But looking at other copies online, the same scribbles could be seen. So this is part of the artwork. Perhaps I'm imagining things, but it seems like the scribbles spell out L-E-F. Or possibly, L-K-F. This of course is the initials of Mr. Louis K. Fine. Is it possible that he sneaked in his initials on his very first comic book cover?? (Gino and Sqeggs over in the Fox thread both find it plausible...) Any additional feedback from the pundits would be most welcome!
  13. Interesting. My experience with pressing is laying a dictionary on top of the comic. Full disclosure: it doesn't work very well!
  14. I guess I partly answered my question to GG. The interior pages for Planet #5 that GG posted on the GRR are from the ComicBook Plus copy of the book online (e.g., compare first splash page from Nelson Cole story).
  15. Strong work, Artboy!! I did wonder how PS Artbooks had compiled all those issues. IMHO the color reproduction was not so hot on the first couple volumes.
  16. Thanks for the cover-to-cover Planets! For anyone who's interested, there are a couple good sources where these books can be read in their 4-color majesty -- Comic Book Plus online, and the "Roy Thomas Presents" PS art book series. GG, have you checked out those sources?
  17. Nice book Rick! I understand how pressing = flatter, but how does it also = brighter?
  18. (Point Five: thanks for "point"-ing out the resto for me.)
  19. Ha. I still have 75 pages left in the book, and that was about 4 years ago! Maybe if my copy looked like this, I would've finished it by now. Great book, Sqeggs!

  21. I "third" that motion!! Egghead googly monster baddie, hypodermic syringe, fist-clenched girl in red... ALL PRICELESS GOLDEN AGE STUFF!!!
  22. WOW!!!!! Those don't exactly grow on trees! Where'd you find it?
  23. Gorgeous book nonetheless!! It's great to see these #2's (slabbed and unslabbed) coming out of the woodwork! Clearly there are more copies out there than the CGC census accounts for. Anyone hazard a guess as to how many copies have survived? (Would need to include the TWO!! copies that Johnny545 has.)
