  1. Cool stuff Ephus! And welcome to the boards! Do you know who the artist is?
  2. That's some devilishly genius artwork, there! Definitely an unsung talent, as both artist and writer. Interestingly his bio on Lambiek is much longer than LB Cole's... Here's another awesome page of his (BBWTOT #115), courtesy of the Lambiek website:
  3. I love that detailed blueprint in MMC 36 for how to invade New York City, especially the "Soldiers put on divers' helmet in air lock." Clearly the OSS was asleep on the job when that key information came to light in Fall 1942.
  4. Great stuff! A nice range of themes and publishers. The Zatara cover is mesmerizing. And that pre-Robin Tec by Leo O'Mealia is awesome hardboiled detective stuff. A nice group of 5 to stare at when you're stranded on a desert island.
  5. And he's also posted about 20 crappy comics. I'm so confused. What actually are Bedrock's top 5? Inquiring minds want to know!
  6. They let in a lot of riffraff that night! Those boardies (though quite handsome) should've shown better manners, swinging their backpacks around and all! MORE IMPORTANTLY: there is a typo in the video at time 2:11. The footer text reads "John Berk" - should be "Jon Berk".
  7. But there should be plenty of Little Lulu's and ROM SpaceKnights to satisfy everyone in round 2!!
  8. Nice confessional, Gino! At least you do have a Cap 3 in your sig line!! Same here, this has been the only social media site I've ever used, and am very pleased to be here (though my wife is not so pleased... a recurrent theme of mine I know )
  9. I think ComicConnect has reserved the next 3 years () going through those 15,000 remaining books (all unslabbed) and assigning grades to them. And then they will show up in subsequent auctions. But I think all (pretty much all?) of the A list material is in the June auction. That was my sense from what I heard on "Berk Night" at the CC headquarters, but I can't confirm this.
  10. Those are sweet! I really like the Mystery Comics. The deep purple colors of the monster's skin are intense. And I like how his right lower hand is delicately cradling the girl.
  11. Geepers, Boris Karload has every reason to be freaked out! That "high nose" is basically planted on his forehead, above his eyes. Just Google "arhinencephaly" if you dare. The squeamish and faint of heart need not go there.
  12. Great before and after images, Artboy! Could almost be a new thread (unless it already exists...). And yes, you did good by those upgrades.
  13. I was just thinking about that. Of course among us fanatical boardies, the Jon Berk name means a lot. But to the less fanatical, it may not mean much, certainly compared to "The Nicholas Cage Collection" or the very well known pedigrees. Even the Berk mega-keys may not hold unique appeal to the casual collector. But who knows -- ComicConnect is doing everything they can to drum up widespread interest. Just my .
  14. Well, the Berk copy of Science 2 that was just posted on CC is... ... wait for it... ... an 8.0 restored, um, "conserved." Kind of takes the wind out of the "sales" () for this book being the new breakout star of the show.
  15. It's actually just foxing on the epidermal cover.
  16. Well, signatures (and Richard) don't lie, but I agree with Jon -- it looks to me like Fine helped out with the layouts/pencils for the Flame (or the Art Director just put in a stat); it almost looks like he was added later. He's kind of floating above the rest of the cover.
  17. Artboy, your eyelids are getting heavy, so very heavy, you can hardly keep your eyes open, and now, you're asleep... And now, sell Zolnerowich your #6... then open your eyes and forget this ever happened.
  18. I agree! (since I am lucky to own 3 of the 4 books!). Of course if you had listed Gene Autry #236, and I owned that book, I would also agree! ?
  19. Here's the thing about Science 2: she's naked! I tend to agree with Rick, I love the book, and it might my fav of the run (though my new Science 3 is making me rethink that!), but Science 2 is reaching that cult status, where Jon Berk's expressed fondness for this particular book adding to its allure. Not sure it will be the massive breakout book at the next auction, but I wouldn't be surprised to see its value holding at the $1.5K per point.
  20. All great stuff, Soft-Serve! Is this Planet 6 from the recent ComicConnect auction? (You mentioned the "Link" above...) If so, I was underbidder or maybe under-underbidder on this one, but alas made an executive decision to shift resources elsewhere.
  21. Yes, kelholt is a quality purist. For some of the rare books, I'll take what I can find. 'Tis the curse of the completist. I'm steadily making my way to the goal line. I can't see the goal line yet, but I'm starting to feel it's not too far around the corner. Only about ten toughies left, and that tricky 15, and then just filling in gaps as the wallet allows.
