  1. "UK Edition" describes what they are perfectly. -J. As does "Pence Variant, Pence Copy etc" To-may-to, To-mah-to. Both are correct
  2. vary ˈvɛːri verb - differ in nature from something else of the same general class. - introduce modifications or changes into (something) so as to make it different Would you agree that they "vary" from the U.S. copies in some way? If so, can they not be called "variants"?
  3. I'm pretty sure you can ship any value book in for grading, but the service is called "walk through." Great books and back-story by the way!
  4. Yep... While the top of his head is fairly creepy, so is her one sanpaku eye.
  5. It was a design used in blankets, baskets, etc., by Southwestern tribes, particularly the Navajo. It even showed up inside an arrowhead on AZ state route markers in the 1920s. In the early 20th century in was considered a good luck symbol in this country, akin to the four-leaf clover. Obviously, as it became associated with the Nazis, it's use in design and advertising declined precipitously. Very interesting, thanks! I knew it was sacred to some eastern religions like Buddhism and Hinduism, but never knew much of its use in North America. Had a quick read about it just now, and my knowledge has been broadened. Much obliged.
  6. Well, the swastika did originate in India. So clearly American Indians would have decorated their teepees with it, it's only logical.

Bought 4 nicely priced McSpidey's from Ed and they arrived lightning fast, accurately graded, and very well packaged. A perfect transaction all around, I'd definitely reccommend, and hope to do business with him again in the future! Thanks again, Ryan
  8. Interesting. I heard the same thing about Ken Kesey
  9. Not to mention that a quick scan of his posting history seems to show that about half of all his posts were in the "Words that just pop into your head" thread. And we're being chastised for not having meaningful discussions
  10. So, you applaud a post that is on topic to the issue at hand, then go on a long off-topic diatribe that has nothing to do with probation discussions This comes off as a cry for attention IMO, and your latest response proves that despite your claim to the contrary, you're not really done, but actually checking back frequently for responses to your needlessly dramatic farewell. It's not all about you. When I was in the Coast Guard we would unfortunately get called out to the Newport Bridge on a regular basis. There were 2 types of these calls. The first was "Someone is standing on the rail of the bridge." These people never jumped, it was a cry for help (which I hope they received). The second type was "There's an abandoned car on the bridge and a footprint on the railing." These were the people (RIP) that were serious. Moral of the story: If you want to leave, that's your prerogative, but please just be a footprint on the railing.
  11. Thanks, they come up for sale on eBay fairly often, but the prices vary considerably. Usually the full sets (with hardcover Supes book, statue, and comic) are more reasonable than the listings selling the comic alone. Might be a good idea to ask the sellers for extra photos of the comic (especially the back) because they typically don't include them. Good luck with the hunt, I'm also looking for the Batman and Wonder Woman versions myself, would love to add them to my collection along with the Superman. I think I will have it pressed to remove the spine crease and flatten out the top edge, since neither defect breaks color. Hopefully this can move it from the 8.5-9.0 range to 9.0-9.2 if I'm lucky. I'm really not sure how they downgrade for that color loss on the BC, but consensus here seems to be it will keep it from being NM or better.
  12. Yeah, the scraping is a pity, but I'm thinking it may be a common defect on this book because of the way the book sat in the box from the factory. It wasn't protected by a bag, and was just placed in a slot. The color loss on mine seems to match up with where the book was making contact with the box. (not my photo)
  13. Thanks everyone for their assessments, I'll be sure to post the results when back from CGC.
  14. Thanks very much! I actually picked this up at Heroes and Fantasies last time I was over, bought the whole set with the hardcover, statue etc. It was sealed so I was taking a gamble on the book, but it's just for my PC, so doesn't have to be perfect. It has been quite warm the past few days, cooler this morning though, feels nice. It's about 50 back in Cork, so not too bad. Glad to be here though, wish I could stay longer.
  15. Any help would be appreciated! 1 small NCB crease FC at top staple Blunting top edge FC both left and right Minor blunting bottom left corner Color loss BC along both edges and bottom
  16. Jonathan, I'm just curious as to why you feel you deserve to be forgiven. Firstly, besides posting the word "Sorry" one time, you haven't even apologized. You have yet to admit any wrongdoing or comprehension that your actions were dishonest and unethical. Then to top it off you make disgusting comments about pederasty directed at Kav (who, if I remember correctly was the one board member who initially expressed the willingness to give you a second chance.) I'm all for forgiveness when someone shows remorse, understands why their actions were wrong, and demonstrates the desire to change. I've seen none of that with you. What chezmtghut said is true as well, so this will be the last I have to say on the matter.
  17. They are laws that you broke with your eBay shenanigans Jonathan. Merry Christmas
  18. 1. Will this shelter be available 7 days a week and provide food as well or will you have to move around? 2. You haven't been able to get more hours while living at home, why all of a sudden are they going to provide you more now? 3. Are you going to find a 2nd job or a full time job? What has stopped you up until now from doing so? You certainly paid plenty of lip service ( "I'm working on it" ) to it before. Was it lack of motivation? 4. Move it where? Can you afford storage? Do the shelters in Canada allow you to store your belongings there? If I were you, I would not go this route. Find a way to get back home and just swallow your pride. The thing you're being prideful about is not worth your health and safety, stop acting like a stubborn child. First thing you should do once you're back is look into programs for people with learning disabilities and learn a trade. Then you can make some real money and not just flounder around like you've been doing the last several years. 1) I would have to see what happens but last time I had to move around. 2) I was talking about looking for a different job with more hours 3) The closer I can get to a full time job the better it will be for me and yes it was a lack of motivation before because it's not often where I have to be serious about what I do with regards to jobs. 4) I have a few favors I can call in and the shelters have school sized lockers for storage but you have to carry what you have. This is one of your main problems. Think about it...it took being kicked out of your home to finally get serious. It should never have gotten to this point.

  20. I was the lucky recipient of a free GA Daffy book from Paul. Truly a wonderful gesture, and the transaction was treated as if it were a 4 figure sale. The shipping was extremely fast and the packaging was perfect. I'd vouch for Paul any day and would 100% deal with him again. Thanks again for a kind gesture and smooth transaction.
