  1. I bet you he does buy a book over $500 I'd be very surprised if he didn't
  2. I have no opinion on the matter, but I would have bet any amount of money on that. I don't want to derail it due to politics, but yes. Tons of "I Hate Hillary" type of stuff intermingled with "Who Is Your Best Friend" type of "quizzes' and Anime. It is not the posting of poltical things per se, it is the type of stuff he is posting that may give a potential employer/volunteer coordinator "pause'. Again, just wanted to clear that up. I haven't posted anything inappropriate and I do realize employers can look at that so I say let them I know plenty of successful people that post what they want and yes I'm not at that stage or close to it yet but if they don't hire me based on that then who cares? You should care Gabe. It's clear you have no desire to better yourself if this is you're attitude. It's pathetic really.
  3. The best I see the asm 129 getting is a 8.5 and I didn't expect him to overpay since he's in the business to make money. I don't want any more 1 dollar comics I don't even know what to do with the ones I have. You do realize that you have just a big if not bigger chance of making the tear worse and having a grade drop, right?
  4. Anybody know why issue 6 is available for pre-order on sites like midtown and DCBS but #'s 3-5 are nowhere to be found? Is it just that 3-5 preorders have sold out?
  5. I have to agree with Red here regarding the thread doing more harm than good. I think we've past the point where good advice is going to have any impact whatsoever. Gabe is either too stubborn or too ignorant to take any of this advice onboard, this has been proven over and over. I'm not saying that he makes these constant mistakes on purpose or for our entertainment, but he must be enjoying the attention to some extent. I wonder if we all completely stopped posting here what the effect would be. At the very least it would free up the time Gabe spends responding to every post with his insightful, well thought out, rational and coherent replies. This would give him more time to "look" for a job.
  6. Wait, what do you mean "it turns out it's an 8.0 not an 8.5?" You just posted a link to where you bought it, as an 8.0.
  7. +1 to everything Metal said, and all the other good advice that seems to bounce right off you. You say you spend a lot of your free time looking for a better job, how many positions have you actually applied for in the last 6 months? What does your C.V./ resume look like? Has your case worker helped you with it? Maybe with your lack of work experience and education, your free time would be better spent volunteering for a reputable organization. This would serve a few purposes. It would be a networking opportunity to meet people that may be able to employ you in a paid role, show potential employers that you are motivated and will look great on your C.V. Not to mention it may be personally satisfying and make you feel a sense of accomplishment. Also, I know this is a chat board and you may write more casually than normal, and I'm also aware you have a learning disability, but you should work on your writing and grammar. For example, the difference between "then" and "than" and "maybe" vs "may be." I'm not trying to be harsh, but these things could be the difference between getting hired or not if you were to write them on a job application.
  8. He's not making money at all, he's still in the red. At the very best he may be climbing a small bit out of the hole he dug himself, but I highly doubt this trend is likely to continue based on his track record. I don't think it's a good idea to encourage him. I think the encouragement he is getting is from the sales he is making. As long as he keeps selling, and making a profit, i don't think he'll stop. There are too many buyers that are enabling him. Having just one or two buyer complete a sale is probably enough to get him to think he is on the right track. Fair enough, you make a good point. Like someone else said, it's like an addict being enabled.

  10. I messaged the seller asking about trimming and CT, this was the reply: New message from: smitjcs.4869 (399Turquoise Star) Hi! Thanks for your message and interest! And no, there is no trimming or color touch on this comic. We always stand by our word. That's why we have our return and refund policy to guarantee complete satisfaction. Hope that helps. Kathleen and Jonathan You think there's any chance it's legit?
  11. Another flawless and hassle free transaction with Dre! Lightning fast shipping, perfect packaging and gorgeous books. I'm a very satisfied repeat customer and will certainly do business again.
  12. If you've applied for this, purely to get deals on comics (how stupid of me .. of course that's why) .. what happens when you go over the credit limit? If you go crazy .. expect a knock on the door from people who will want to claim that money back. Your prized, high-item books .. $5 each .. that's probably what value they'll put on each one to get their money back .. a comic book is a comic book to anyone who doesn't know the different values, right? Your stock AND personal comics will be WIPED OUT! Let's face it, you've made less money on comics than you've laid-out. You have a minimal wage job to support your lifestyle .. adding a card to the mix is potentially (no real potentially about it) dangerous and irresponsible if you have issues with money and not budgeting etc .. this is not a good move for you. Agree times infinity. This is trouble waiting to happen. What is the interest rate on the card you were approved for? 19.99% To echo a previous comment, cut it up! At 20% interest, your monthly payments aren't even likely to bite into the principle. Why would I waste my time with monthly payments? At that rate I would be in debt for sure that's why I said I go for quicker flips and pay off what I buy before the 30 day grace period ends. OK, and what happens when you buy a book on the credit card and then can't find someone to buy at a profit within 30 days? If that were the case I would make sure it's a comic that I'd be able to pay off quickly before the interest rates come into effect. If you could come up with the money to pay off the book in 30 days without selling it, why not just save for 30 days and buy the book with cash. No need for a credit card at all.

  15. I want to ask you one thing, how old are you now? Not sure why it matters but I'm 36
  16. I know the girl is gone and it sucks to make only enough to scrape by.... But please tell me at least that Ireland is awesome. My dad's family is Irish and it's been a long-term goal to vacation there, but I've always thought it would be cool to live there too. Please tell me I'm not totally delusional. In the interest of leaving this thread about the OP, check out my response over here: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9519424#Post9519424
  17. Thanks very much, I appreciate the kind words. I really wish all the good advice in this thread would have an effect on the OP. He frustrates me a lot, but I think that's because I was very similar at his age. It's like I'm wanting to slap some sense into my younger self. Indeed there was. We met my first year in the Coast Guard while I was stationed in Rhode Island. Long distance for almost 7 years before I moved over. Looking back I don't know how we managed for so long.
