Do y'all come to Dallas at all? I have noticed maybe the same 6 comic dealers that are the usual, so I assume they get something out of it, while there are only 4 or more that rotate out and or aren't "local" per se.

I was just curious the "climate" of the Dallas area when it comes to comics and cons, or if like New Orleans was on the way out? :shy:

We set up at the Collector's Summit held at Heritage the last two years. Not your traditional con, but a lot of great books present.

  2. One that I miss not having on our schedule, but as Bob already said, we are a business and need to make money when taking the time to attend these shows. This one was a minimum 6 day trip including travel days, and the last two times we did we felt we were very lucky to break even or make a few hundred dollars. I do miss seeing our customers in that region and definitely the city. Hoping that show can make a comeback of some kind in the future.

  3. Looking forward to our hometown show this weekend! Alex, Chase, and I will be there with tons of new material since Chicago. I believe we have added about 250+ new slabs to our convention inventory (several thousand more on the website) since Fan Expo Chicago and also spent several weeks repricing the rest of our existing show inventory to fall more in line with current pricing.

As always, if you have any books you would like to sell or consign please keep us in mind.

Booth #909 ( same spot as last year)

  4. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth this past week, we had a great time even though we were dog tired. We were in a new location this year on the corner of an aisle and finally with 2 booths. We noticed our foot traffic was way up and we had a tremendous show even with having a limited inventory. Hopefully next year we can drive out and bring our full show inventory.

As Bob said, the Torpedo show is a great option for those who don't want to spend a ton on the spectacle of SDCC and just want to see great books. There were maybe a few hundred people to contend with over the weekend, in a room packed with amazing books. We'll definitely be back!

  5. A little bit late on this but Alex and I had a great time setting up at this show. Huge thanks to Heritage and Nate ( @Kihei Collectibles) for putting it on!

As we were recommended to do, we brought about 100 slabs of Golden Age/High End Silver. Considering we brought so few books, I was very happy with what we were able to sell and also bought a few books throughout the weekend from guys who brought their own stuff to set up on tables. The Heritage location was extremely convenient being right next to the airport and the catered food on Saturday night and free food trucks on Sunday were a really nice touch. I mentioned a few times over the weekend that us comic guys are used to being shoved into the back corner of a convention hall with dim lighting, and this was the exact opposite of that. We were set up in a beautifully lit gallery and treated with respect, and it did not go unnoticed.

I would love to see this show happen again in the same format with a focus on high end books, and if Heritage were gracious enough to host again, that was a perfect venue.

Thanks to all who came by and shopped or said hello! See you all next year!

Thanks for the behind the scenes info from a seller's standpoint.  If you had to quess how far did you have to drop your prices to get from 3 months ago prices to current prices?

Hard to say on there is a set % for the market at large but I would guess in the 20-30% range. Thankfully we had a ton of new inventory that I was able to price 1-2 weeks before the show so all of those prices were current.

Due to the size of our inventory it's tough to go back and reprice everything, so I am open to hearing fair offers at shows or otherwise.
