  1. That reminds me of one time when I was about 11 or 12. We were at my Grandma's house and my cousin's mom told him to do something. He said "Eat me raw!" and I was both appalled and dying with laughter at the same time. Awesome... guess you had to be there
  2. A real sale is always news (and take credit for your own lame comment) Um, that wasn't my comment, I was quoting Kevin76, He stated it was yesterday's news when I mentioned the 9.8 slab selling for $250 after I first mentioned the book heating up weeks/months ago. I accept your apology in advance, thanks. Still yesterday's news
  3. When I was a kid in the 80's, I used to rent Friday The 13th movies and watch them over and over. I turned out fine, never killed anyone
  4. The bidders have bid activity with the seller at 22% & 99%. Seems like a scam. You guys are worried about an Alf 1 that went for $12 being a scam?? Maybe you guys need another hobby? Yeah, 99% bidding activity with the seller smells funny to me but hey, it's your $12 so feel free to buy them at that price all day long. Especially since other copies of this elusive book have sold for less than $2. There's nothing you can do about it if it is...If you've noticed, all the 80's junk #1's are moving up in price. Prices today are all over the map, one day it's a $50 book, next day it's a $75 dollar book, it's an auction after all and it goes to the highest bidder. I sent an email to a bidder one time over a DRK 1 I got out bid on at the last second over 10 years ago he said "I wanted it really bad" That is your answer really about why stuff suddenly sells for more than the "norm" One sale of a $11-$12 doesn't dictate that's what the going price is going to be from now on.

  6. I wonder if CGC will ever come out with a different color label just for pedigrees, So if a you see a red label you can say "ah, it's a pedigree!" as well as the notation. Just an idea since they have a yellow one just for signed books.
  7. Well look at the price of slabbed 9.8's, No surprise it went over a $100.
  8. Looks like someone is late to the party, This has been sough after for a while now.
  9. The seller took really great pictures...success leaves clues guys!
  10. Does buying books from your brother really count? Jim Wow talk about not reading what I wrote... You said you bought a book from your brother, what did I misinterpret? Your other book didn't show up with a scan? Jim Wanna read that last sentence I wrote one more time? Starting with "Picked this up for Comicartfan"
  11. Does buying books from your brother really count? Jim Wow talk about not reading what I wrote...
  12. which book are you talking about? DC Comics Presents 26
  13. I found a super nice copy at a local show, Dealer had a price of VF/NM for $65, I asked him if he'd take $50 and he took it, It has a printer's crease (non color breaking) and a few small non color breaking spine creases, picked this up for Comicartfan, I think it's 9.6 - 9.8 with a press.
  14. Wow no one responded to my prediction, guess no one believes me?
  15. the winning bidder has used 5% of his bids on the sellers' items, while the under bidder has used 19% of his bids. possible shilling, though it seems likely at least that the winning bidder was real. i was involved in a similar auction (i stopped at $66) that ended at about $120, but that one seemed like more blatant shilling. Not really, can't just say "That's shilling" when you see a high price on something that's out of the norm. Lot of low feedback bidders are still learning how ebay works, if they get outbid, they will keep trying till the are winning the auction, so it can be confused with shilling. Have to remember Winter Solder is super hot right now, $66 is far too low to even bother trying to win that, that's only $33 each. The books will cool off once the movie leaves the theater but right now, everyone and thier sister wants those books.
  16. I'm going to predict Superman Adventures #5 and Action Comics 835, 1st Livewire
  17. Cap v5 #14 still sells for higher than #6, right? Here is the last copy I sold: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251455255763?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1561.l2649#ht_216wt_1105 It only hit $41 which was a bit disappointing IMHO........ Your eBay AD needs work...seriously. Which is why it didn't do as well as you would have liked.
  18. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hellblazer-1-CGC-9-8-NM-M-1st-Appearance-of-Papa-Midnite-/331162975966?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item4d1ad9fede yesterdays news
  19. Anyone see the ASM 607 9.8 that just sold for $240?
  20. He's generalizing. The numbers ARE down, but there are still readers. In fact, there's probably been a slight upswing in readers with all the movie and TV exposure. There's a core of female readers that I don't think existed ten years ago. This being the CGC forum, though, there's probably some skew towards graded book collectors. He's not talking about modern sales or comic readers in general. He's talking about people who don't seem to have a clue about the interior content of comics they're buying, especially in slabs. I used to care about the content inside, now I just collect money
  21. The problem is that people don't read comics anymore, and they just look at what's on the CGC label. And on that note, what is on the CGC label? The major point I would concentrate on is the first cover appearance, combined with the first full appearance in 362. People like covers, as they look kewl in their plastic tombs. How do you know people don't read comics anymore? i know i don't
