  1. Can you post a scan of a book so we can see what you're doing wrong?
  2. I have a HP 8250 scanner, I like it alot. Once an image is scanned and saved, first thing to do is to raise the black level, comes out a dark grey at first. There is a tip for you!
  3. Those beautiful comics with that ugly hat! j/k +1 Not kidding Go Chargers. Chargers disappointed me. Being a lifelong Patriot fan, I get nervous around this time. I just hope manning folds, as he usually does, when Brady is on the other side. I'm a Pats fan too, we should go see a Pats game together and we can talk comics in between plays Brady is 7-0 against a Del Rio defense FYI. I have a bad feeling about this game, unless Blount gets it going. At least it's not f'ing Eli he's up against. 2007 Pats weren't physical enough, 2011 Pats had the worst defense to ever make it to a SB. Broncos have a terrible pass defense, 2013 Pats pass defense is so much better than in recent years, They just need to get Peyton off his spot, He'll throw at least one INT this game. I see the Pats winning in a close game.
  4. I keep seeing a 9.8 third print for #18 on eBay being re-listed, the price has gone down a bit but it's still over $200. I have to say it's tempting, but I don't think I can bring myself to spend that kind of money. Maybe we'll look back on this several months from now and think that was a bargain. Last few ebay auctions they have been selling for over $200, People are asking crazy money for the 17's lately.

  6. In 40 years people will say, boy do I miss the prices of 2014!
  7. As I packed it last night, I (as always) had seller's remorse. On closer inspection, the book has a serious chance at a 9.9 - not a single flaw. It's not a 9.9, It's a 9.8. might even be a 9.6 with the way CGC has been latley, getting back surefire 9.8's as a 9.6...can't find a single thing wrong! CGC says 9.6, starting to think CGC is trying to make sure they don't hand out to many 9.8's. It's their way of guaranteeing continuing submissions. They have their "loose" periods where everybody gets ecstatic by getting higher grades than they were expecting coming back. Then they "toughen" up their standards for a few months, enraging people by giving grades that were much lower than expected. The genius of this plot, they know that once word gets out that they're in another "loose" phase, everybody and they momma is going to re-submit the books that were under-graded in the first place. Admit it, you've all fallen for it. You get the under-graded books back, steam over it, then when word comes out that they're loose again, you re-submit the book, and then are over-joyed by the grade bump. The true "suckers" in this instance are the re-submitters, because CGC got them to pay grading fees not just once, and sometimes, more than 3 times, just to get the grade the submitter felt the book should have gotten the first time. I don't fall for this, some guys shell out 30, 40 50 dollar resubmits to try and get a grade bump. I just prescreen everything, whatever comes back 9.8 I see slabbed, whatever comes back rejected, I sell raw.

  9. I had hopes fox would do the same with Forge in the First Class or DOFP movies. Start stock piling those X-Men 184's!
  10. On the boards, it's agains't board policy to speak your mind.
  11. Are you going to be at the show ?.... I'm planning on it. Good show today. Not too much in the way of cheap copper goodies but I grabbed a bunch of high grade Astonishing Tales (Deathlok issues) for $2 a piece. Couldn't pass them up at that price. I was there with Comicartfan, picked up a NM+ copy of Sandman 1. He picked up a MOS 18 for $1, Looks like a 9.8. And it was a newsstand copy You guys are goddamned savages. All I found this weekend was some Rom the Space Knights in a few boxes of Moderns I obtained. We look for comics, we don't stand and talk to people for 20 minutes, we don't find anything, within 10 minutes, move onto the next table.

  13. If one knows any of the Massachusetts Boardies, the secret of the good brother - evil brother has been out for eons. It is good that they are not twins, because Kevin would have eaten him in the womb. I actually am a twin, I have a twin sister I have to assume that she is kind, gentle, brilliant and charming. And that you tasted bad, or she would have consumed you.. No she's not, but I am
  14. Me and my brother will both be there actually He's coming down from NH. Might even set up at the next one!

  16. The secret is out! I only said that cause last time I mentioned I had a bunch of MOS 17's & 18's, I was told the same thing and my brother and I started laughing about it. The joke has been on you guys here on the boards the whole time! ~
  17. Yeah I saw that one. I have 4 9.8s coming back from CGC this week, so I am pretty stoked... Thanks for the update!
  18. Always buy a safe Made in the US, because the US is where the best steel is made, brands like Brown Safe, Fort Knox, AMSEC, Ect.. are all excellent. Fort Knox Safes are some of the most expensive, but can add how much steel you want to any safe. If you want 1 inch of steel in the body and 1/2 inch steel on the door, you can. Get one that is Fire Proof, not Fire resistant! Each safe has a Fire Rating, i.e 1850 degrees 45 minutes, 2500 degrees for 1 hour ect... Quality high rated burglary safes have 2 rating TR-15 and TR-30 which means, The best safe crackers spent 15 minutes (TR-15) which had tools on it for 15 minutes and tools on the TR-30 for 30 minutes. You can also customize the inside with how you want the shelving laid out as well as all the bells and whites, corner locks, extra steel in the door and body, blow torch proof (stainless steel lining) interior lights ect... Always buy a safe bigger than you need cause you'll fill it up fast!
  19. You got strictly Adam Hughes fans vs Harley freaks vs Variant collectors/speculators. Factor in a possible printing defect and you got a panic on the Fourth of July Printing error? What do you mean? One just sold for $75. So yesterday one sold for $51, today one sold for $61, a few hours later another sells for $75. did I say error, I should have said defect. And that's only from what's been read on these boards. I have heard others mention a rub on more than a few occasions. But call it what you like or nothin at all. Don't believe everything you read on the boards
  20. I have Diamond sales rankings but no print run numbers: September 1992 MoS 17 was #97 on their sales chart. All Superman titles were low. Adventures didn't even make top 100. October 1992 MoS 18 moves up to #77. November 1992 MoS 19 jumps way up to #19 It's not quite as big of a difference between 17 and 18 as I would of thought, but def shows 17 was a lower print run. I also wonder if more newsstand copies of 18 survived. MoS 17's may have been pulled by the time people caught on to the whole Superman's being killed thing. Even with the lower print numbers, according to FastballSpecial and the Diva. They are pretty easy to come by, if so, I'll buy every single copy NM/MT of MOS 17 these 2 lovebirds can find for $10 each. NO BS! Dude what is your problem? I don't know even you yet, your responses are extremely hostile. If someone disagrees with you do you feel the need to insult them to feel better? I already picked up 3 copies of MoS 17 for just over cover and plan to pick up a few more this week. I sold a VF copy for $20 this week why would I sell you any for $10. How can you get to know someone you'll never meet over a message board? It's not my fault people on here don't have a thick skin, I'd say the same thing here as I would to you in person. I'm not here to make "online friends" That's retarded. I try to make a point and I'm wrong when I know I'm right. I stand behind what I believe and what I say and I will fight for my opinion, you are just taking and others on here what I say, personal. And yes, I do make jokes out of people's posts when they state the obvious. I've said it once I'll say it again, In person I'm Bruce Wayne, On the boards, I'm Batman.
  21. Or - and this may be a shocker for ya - they just want anything to do with the Death of Superman storyline, from lead-ins to actual full appearances. Not to beat a dead horse here, but are you saying they are paying higher price for a cameo because they want to complete their collection repeatedly? I understand your argument, but it should have been going one for awhile right? Not just the last few weeks/months yes? The large number of sales here including one of mine just baffle me. People do know the difference between a cameo and a full appearance. Comic collectors aren't that stupid and do you actually think people are spending their money blindly? The MOS 17 is harder to find than the 18 which in turn makes it much more desirable. Hence the premium being paid. Do you know the difference between supply and demand? Yes. And yes, we all do. MOS #17 is no harder to find than any other issue in the title. Prove it, sell me 20 copies if they are so easy to find. I'm quite sure that there are many of us here sitting on more than 20 copies of M.O.S. #17. Every collection I've bought has had at least one copy of that issue, but there are usually multiples in those collections. Well I got plenty of money here ready and willing to Paypal anyone who can come up with multiple copies of MOS 17 since they are so "common"
