  1. It really depends on if I'm going to be away from the auction where I can't watch it, or if I get so fed up, I saw "Screw this" and place a stoooopid bid to lock down on winning it.
  2. Not everyone is buying for resell, I've placed "Stoooopid bids" on comics that I didn't plan on selling later, but high bids were placed just to try and win the auction, then someone comes along and tries to out bid me over and over again, If the auction is sitting at $50, most people with bid $55, 57, maybe 60 to try and win the auction with 3 minutes left, Screw that! with 3 minutes left I'm thinking $200 to win it because that is the absolute most I will pay! Then someone will come in at the last 45 seconds and rebid 5 or 6 times to try and out bid me with nickels and dimes.
  3. Opps! I spilled my glass of water, they are the same size are regular boxes. They are much sturdier than the cardboard ones, unlimitedbags.com sells them as well.
  4. Anyone ever sell on mycomicshop.com? How are they?
  5. They should start climbing of course once the series resumes.
  6. Your collection is just awesome ! - I've been watching the books you've been posting and it looks like my collection/want list. Once your scanner goes 11 X 17, you don't go back!
  7. I've seen some good items on ebay that are really terrible auction listings, bad pictures, no return policy, ending at bad times, overpriced shipping charges ect... Just cause it's a comic, doesn't mean it's going to sell itself. There is some marketing to it.
  8. Why is everything on ebay a BIN these days?
  9. Whoa! Todd 1 in CGC 9.8 just sold for $36.00! These were going for close to $100 about a month ago! Weather is getting warmer, convention season is coming and its on a dip until September, Looks like all those factored in.
  10. I can't believe I actually said something multiple people can agree on..I should print this thread out and have it slabbed!
  11. Here's a scan from my HP 8250 I just set up, I played with the coloring a bit, I didn't want it too red or too blue. How does it look?
  12. This reminds me of the Bronze Age bubble that was started 10 years ago, now it's with copper age books.
  13. To think people were paying almost $200 for 9.8's of the first issue!
  14. I remember when my brother called me at work and told me about a raw GL 76 he traded for, this was in 2001. He gave up an ASM 121 and 122 for it. I came home and looked at it and I said to him "9.4" He was like REALLY??? He sent it in to CGC and it came back 9.4, which was I think the only 9.4 at the time. He ended up selling it a year or 2 later for 2K which was really high for that book at that time.
  15. It's called a splice. It's when one roll of paper gets switched to another roll with a piece of tape, there is always a "tail" after the splice which is what that is. Sometimes they don't take those out of the bundle and they get shipped out.
  16. The pressman has to put color on the paper and cannot save the books until they get the color to where it needs to be, in order to get that background color, blue and red is used, if the red is showing, it needs more blue in the area. Back in the old days, color was set by hand. So the guy setting the color had to run back and forth from the unit to checking the books to see if it's where he wanted it, if not, he had to keep making the adjustments by running back and forth, sometimes all night long.
  17. I just got the HP 8250 used from Amazon but the seller put in the wrong power cord and no USB cable, So I ordered them and just waiting on them now, can't get here soon enough cause I got a batch of books on the way!
  18. I got 4 copies of #3 and 16 copies of #4 all NM/MT if anyone needs any Send a PM if you do!
  19. This happens with almost all books though? I've noticed many people on eBay just like auctions and will rather bid and win an item at the auction price even though they could pay less by getting a BIN. In my opinion, BINs skew results both ways (books selling for higher or lower). To me, it seems the auction prices are more telling of how much people value a book on the secondary market. People go on eBay to bid and "win" auctions, BIN is too easy and you aren't "winning"
