What did you find was your hardest run / set to complete?
Kevin76 replied to Get Marwood & I's topic in Comics General
Wonder Woman (1987) 63-100 all in 9.8 has been a pain, still missing 73, 74 and 85 then I'm done. 84 took me years to find. I can't imagine someone else out there trying to complete this set, they must be ripping their hair out. -
Overrated IMO Adam Hughes...still don't get the appeal after all these years J Scott Campbell....Jim Lee Clone JR JR...Can he make anything realistic at least to some degree? Artgerm....See Adam Hughes comment Alex Ross .... Ok so paint everything with a low perspective to give the illusion the characters look bigger than they are...ok got it. It's very hard to come up with a style that's going to capture an audience the way, Kirby, Wrightson, Adams and even Mcfarlane has. Very few artists can do it and it's even much, much harder now to do it cause we've seen everything by now. What I'm not seeing is risks being taken nowadays, everything is a group shot, a money shot a "Hey I can sell this to someone cause it's got everything an art collector wants" kinda shot. As much as I like Jim Lee, every other page is a splash page he can sell for 20K+ that looks like it was set up that way for the money grab. I'm not worried about an artist making every piece of anatomy perfect, it's really about how the piece makes you feel when you look at it. Love him or Hate him, Mcfarlane brought a lot of energy to the page, so did Kirby. I don't feel that way about any of the popular artists I listed above.

Best time to sell -- before or after movie release?
Kevin76 replied to BCarter27's topic in Original Comic Art
Best time to sell? Simple, when you are in retirement -
The fake autograph is a dead giveaway, look at some of Mcfarlane's SS books, the signature doesn't match up.

Email him again and threaten him with filing a mail fraud case. Something like that could get anyone to respond. No one wants to go to prison. I remember years ago on eBay making offline deals, "silveragefan" would go into hiding after you paid him for books, wasn't until you threatened him is when he'd finally responded. Hope it works out for you.

Best Silver Age Long Term Investments (On a Budget)
Kevin76 replied to TheSSurfer's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Take the $800 and start a business, then you'll be able to buy all the comics you want. Of course if you still plan on only buying comics to sit on, you'd be better off buying multiple comics and not putting all your eggs into one basket. Buy golden age or DC silver age keys while they're still cheap- 133 replies

Kevin76 replied to Superworld's topic in Golden/Silver/Bronze Age Only
Still waiting for Ted to find a Detective 27 from an original owner -
Simple... The same person who watches the watchmen are the ones who date stamp the books...thought everyone knew that? Wish they would put comics back in stores like they used too, now it's want a comic? Go to the comic store or order one online.

Lot of cheapskates on eBay too. They wanna buy champagne with beer money. I've gotten emails from ebayers "Will you take $40"? When I've set the price at $90. When I say say No, I get back "That's all the money I have"

Maybe in the Venom movie, Venom gives Black Cat a nice backhand slap like he did in ASM 316

"It's not for sale... unless the price is right"
Kevin76 replied to ParamagicFF's topic in Original Comic Art
I say to people all the time...I'll sell it when i retire (about another 25 or 30 years from now) -

Just leave it be and not say anything and move on

I wouldn't invest any money into any Variant cover as far as I can throw it! I don't care how rare it is. Rare doesn't guarantee demand. Pay more attention to demand. I'd get a NYX 3 since it was hot before X-23 was announced to appear in Logan, the announcement just added to the attraction. Best of all? Doesn't have any variant covers. Walking Dead 1 is a "wait and see" once the shows ends, and it will. Saga 1 is a good choice and still expensive on it's own even with a variant out there.

Maybe the CGC witness suffers from A.D.D?

SS is all about the resale, I don't see the point of autographs, and what's sad is that they aren't that valuable unless the person is dead. I just shake my head at these eBay buyers paying X amount of thousands of dollars to get some of these signed books

Ok, after some revisions and adjustments. I went with this. Simple, easy to read, and colorful. Nothing over the top.
