  1. $380 a year. Box also holds important documents, photos and family objects that having them lost/stolen, but insured, is meaningless. Banks can be nuked, burned, flooded, hit by asteroids, and swallowed by the earth the same as houses. So why pay for the privilege, especially when (for probably less $$ annually) you can insure the replaceable stuff, and enjoy the irreplaceable stuff while anyone and everyone who cares is still alive...? These are all very good points that I have no answers for.

  3. Thanks for pointing this out. I have cut two pieces of cardboard and placed them on either side of the CGC slab and paper taped them together. Pertinent info is written on each side of cardboard. The box fits 10 this way. I'm hoping the cardboard will help protect slabs in the event of a natural catastrophe or the weight problem. Is 10 slabs really to0 heavy?
  4. That's what I'm going with. Was six years on the waiting list for box before getting it
  5. I think I bought one of the books from you Jools&Jim when I first came around. The answer to this question is I have very nice lower copies of all these books to have on hand and enjoy. Plus, as I stated, my OCD is starting to venture into bank safe deposit boxes, the history of them, etc. It's weird, I know. I have an amazing run of Swamp Thing Volume 1 in the 9-4 to 9.6 range that I bought from a Boardie and we decided they could not be slabbed, they were too nice for that.
  6. I've given you an opinion, but to be blunt, and really no offence intended, I wouldn't bother putting any of them into a Bank Vault unless they are going to be left for 300 years or so and a nucleur holocaust destroys the bazillion other copies out there. They are just not rare enough, but if they give you pleasure...then its all good. Thanks, and I know they aren't that rare. My OCD has ventured into Bank Safe Boxes is all. thanks for playing!
  7. I have researched this here and my understanding is, no, it's not a problem. Here is the thread: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9385482&fpart=1
  8. I gotta bank safe deposit box. It will hold 10 CGC slabs and I've got 17. Help me decide what stays safe at the bank and what gets robbed at my home. (Look I know the books aren't much but I'm practicing for when I get big books!) Just play along, ok! Here's what I got: Daredevil #168 (newstand) 9.6 Star Wars #1 9.6 Strange Tales #110 3.5 Dark Knight Returns #1 9.8 Dark Knight Returns #1 9.6 (SS Miller/Janson) X-Men #94 9.4 Giant Size X-Men #1 9.2 House of Secrets #92 8.0 Marvel Premiere #47 9.8 Amazing Spiderman #129 8.0 Inhumans #1 9.0 Moon Knight #1 9.6 Killing Joke 9.6 Daredevil #158 9.4 Invaders #1 9.6 Defenders #1 6.5 Peter Parker The Spectacular Spiderman #1 9.0 What 10 go to the bank vault!!!
  9. 9.0. The staining on the back cover upper right throws me off. Without that I'd say 9.2 - 9.4
  10. I honestly graded it at 8.5 before seeing the CGC return. Too much spine tics that break color to be 9.0 or 9.2 like OP thought. To the OP: Thank you so much for taking the time to post the CGC returned book. It really helps me hone my grading skills. Many, many thanks.
  11. I see very minor corner blunting top left. There seems to be scuff marks in the character box, also top left. Back comer there seems to be a scuff mid to bottom right. bad but enough to keep it out of 9.6. So I say 9.2
  12. It is good advice. And I admit it: it does feel good to just buy something sometimes. Leads to a lot of stuff I really don't want. I need discipline! I need money!
  13. keep 'em coming. Don't remember the flyer at all.
  14. Interesting. What defines "a collection" and what defines "an accumulation?"
  15. Thanks Comicquant! A near perfect book IS tough to grade. (for me, at least ). I'm learning of course. PGM crew are GREAT!
  16. agree w. the 4.0 - 4.5. I have a 3.5 that looks worse, so...
  17. This is the only one I can find: http://cbldf.myshopify.com/products/dark-knight-returns-poster-vintage-and-re-issue
  18. I remember back when this book came out. At my LCS there was a serious of promotional posters they put in the store window. Does anyone have images of theses posters? I can only find one: Batman standing with arms on hips over some buildings. But I remember more. Or am I making things up? As always, thank you.
