  1. don't know WTF this thread is about. Haven't had much time for the hobby and just logged on and got to the point to see what my pal Grebal was up to. Now I know. Reptiles are disgusting. And if this f-ing thing isn't a reptile, I don't care it's still f-ing disgusting. Glad I got my annual Christmas -script of Xanax filled because now I'm gonna take one.
  2. i can' t think of a duller way to collect comics: flipping via movie hype. EDIT: Does a store owner here have a "portrait" of a comic-book movie hype flipper? Similarities they all possess? Manner of dress? Etc? Built a line up!
  3. thanks! that made me laugh on a really, really s h i t t y day. There hasn't been anything about today that has not been s h i t t y , except for this. Thank You!
  4. was at a two day convention here in Los Angeles and the overwhelming buzz in the convention hall where collectors looking to complete runs. Yes, you heard me correct in that collectors were less interested in keys and wanted to complete runs and story arcs so as to read and admire the work of their favs . The dealers I spoke with were taken back a bit and were desperately cracking open slabs so collectors could buy and finish their runs AND read their books. Then the dog woke me up, runny nose in my face. leash in his mouth, tail wagging eagerly in hopes I'd take him on a walk.
  5. my fave MK cover.!I dislike CGC SS in general except for my DTR #1 SS Miller/Janson and I want this signed by by BS in silver marker.
  6. i've run off to hide. Communicate by bird whistle only.
  7. my mom has a cluser of 5$ bills from the 50's she's sure are worth something and somebody from a "coin shop would love to look at them and give an aprasial." I looked one up ebay's completed listings and it much better condition it sold for 7$. My mom is unware she is starting family drama over nothing.
  8. now that's a documentary/reality superhero movie I'd see.
  9. please PM who this person is, their handle here. I'll keep it in my notes and not discus it with anyone, anywhere, ever.
  10. I believe someone here in Los Angeles went to the hood. Left money in car. Rough looking characters but it all turned out as advertised. I mean weird stories with a capital W! You go to look at the collection and the guy is dressed as one of the My Little Ponies. Or Collector (husband) is having a full on fight with wife while you are looking through books. Something weird you've seen at a collector's house like maybe a temple set up in remembrance of Anton Levay or a collection of prosthetic arms or legs.
  11. wish there was a way to know if you're book was pressed by an educated/skilled/hard-working talented presser or some kid from the t-shirt shack at the mall next to the "we change watch batteries" watch store. I guess you can tell from results.
  12. i'm glad my wife didn't find me watching this video. I'd have to endure the cultural insensitivity lecture. My life is a billion times better with my wife in my life, but mess man, sometimes you just gotta bite your tongue.
  13. The qualification is my wife says so. I can give you the whole story if you or anyone is interested. Short story: traveling with a writer who has family there that are big wigs in Erbil. If I die, Grebal gets my comics.
  14. So is Houston and I survived it numerous times. And Hell, I live in Los Angeles.
  15. While I appreciate everyones input, it's now a moot point as my wife has informed me we're traveling to Iraqi Kurdistan in March 2019 (or for the ultra-ultra PC Crowd just Kurdistan as Iraq stole the land from the Kurds, etc, etc) and "there will be no more comic purchase for the time being" as money is to be saved for trip. Anyone know of any comic shops in Iraq? There is: https://www.facebook.com/search/110301785664699/places-in/133510666716809/places/intersect/
  16. You're an Ex-Lawyer so I know those aren't GRRs. I got your address, Pal.
  17. I wouldn't buy a restored ASM 1. Period. So for a collector like me, your possibly restored ASM 1 is knocked down in value by 100%. That's just this collector.
  18. It stands for Pacific Coast Highway in Southern California, generally where you're smarter collector's live.
  19. You're a smart guy, Grebal. I've always thought that. I was a little worried when you disappeared for a couple of months around here. I even Googled your name to see if you had died because, well, I care and I know your really, really valuable books are in that glass dinning room cabinet and I just wanted to make sure those books were safe.
  20. is the Batman 405 signed twice? nice books. congrats.
  21. I know a collector that's fairly well-versed in the hobby and he claims he can tell when a book is pressed or not 100% of the time and I believe him. I can't always tell. I did have an xmen 94 CGC 9.4 and it was so flat it looked freakish and ugly. But hey, it's a 9.4 so.... When you can't find books that haven't been pressed seems, to me, sad.
