  1. I pay 807 a year all in (approx 725 plus taxes, etc.) for the following coverage. You have to love the shade thrown at UPS here. I do think this is pricey. I also have a Fine Arts policy with my home insurer USAA. Its about the same total amount of coverage but 25% of the price. Their system is so poor though that I am not wanting to rely solely on them for coverage, and their policy does not include comics or other collectibles. In fact, you can't even use the word comic in the description or its rejected (conan comic art page = NO; John Buscema conan artwork = YES). So no toys, game, cards, comics, etc. Most of what I have are paintings anyway. Whether they are "fine" is another conversation.
  2. Have been with CI for a number of years off and on. I made two claims, both in the same calendar year. They were very helpful and processed the claims quickly. They then dropped me after the second claim. Both were shipping claims, roughly 1k and 1.5k in value. I think they view shipping coverage as something for a dealer policy, which is why they weren't interested in insuring me further. They have since written another policy for me and I am current with them.
  3. What a world, huh? I am fortunate to live in an older neighborhood where my mail is still delivered through a slot that drops the mail right into my kitchen. Its insane to me they still do this as the labor cost to walk mail to every house must be high. I don't miss the large communal mail boxes typical of newer communities at all.
  4. So sorry this happened (to two of you) but also this is one of the most useful threads on the board. Clearly there is an issue at that facility.
  5. It's really something watch the media spin on pop culture stuff like this isn't it?
  6. Not all platforms have this option. Was watching a Sotheby's auction the other day because there was a lot I was interested in and as they rolled through the 6.5 million Francis Bacon I felt a twinge of nerves about moving between tabs on my browser.
  7. Because I plan to not be there half the year, I have been leaning toward condo/townhouse arrangements. The monthly fees are also just insane, to add to the perpetual costs of ownership of coastal properties.
  8. Been looking for a second house nearish an east coast beach and its brutal. Zillow past home sales are meant to make you feel awful about what could have been, insane runups and little cooling off where I am looking.
  9. I agree with this. Still think Death Dealer is THE Frazetta character and DD1 the most iconic Frazetta work. Conan covers a close second. In the DK vs EQ debate, I hesitated to post this but why not. Fellas with kids and spouses may get a side eye for hanging EQ above the kitchen table. EQ also has the racial angle going for or against it, which just reared its head again with the Netflix show (apparently). Frazetta painting African folks also has something of a different nuance to it post some of the Doc Dave "revelations". I can't help but look at things slightly differently now. All DK has going against it is the testicle... Molly Hatchett>Eerie cover. My 2 cents. Hope this doesn't get political...
  10. I am happy to say my ability to write a 6M check has not changed one bit in the last two years
  11. Not with a reserve, in that case the reserve is the "other person", ie, the consignor.
  12. I think Prop Store catalogs are well possibly worth looking after. I had some, sold a few for around 30 on eBay, chucked the rest. I tossed all HA catalogs into the bin as well. I don't think they have any value, certainly not high enough value to warrant a trip to the PO. Hakes, CL, etc all beyond worthless I imagine.
  13. Like I said, my brain can easily scroll through the Harry Truman political pins they seem to auction so many of ;) Also, then you can control-F the page.
  14. Yeah I had the same suggestion, or go full Hakes.com with an ALL selection. It's pretty amazing how your brain can fast scroll through images and immediately detect things you are looking for. My other thought was to limit booths to something like 5 pieces, perhaps not enough selection but the total number of pieces was quite high to scroll through. I was half tempted to post something at 1 million dollars just to get it to page 1 and hopefully drive traffic to my other listings.
  15. I received these offers, one piece went for 500 on HA in 2019, offered at 1.5k on CAL, last day email offering 7% off.
  16. Sunday is live but the site is glitching and I can't get it to just show Sunday listings. With over 6000 listings its pretty much impossible to browse and shop. You have to know what you are looking for with keyword searches.
  17. I pretty much assume 90% of dealer inventory is being resold from last year's auctions. Unless its a true "one that got away" its hard to pull the trigger.
  18. Anyone know the current count of fantasy art museums being planned/built in the near future?
  19. I had asked about animation cels. HA is great on the buying side, the selling side has been difficult for me. I have a lot of stuff that falls across categories and I can't really seem to get one person to fully engage. No, it's not 100k of material, but it's certainly in the 10s of 1000s. I see the random beat Star Wars toys they sell and scratch my head a bit.
  20. I was wondering why I got a marketing email asking for consignments for this auction. I never get those emails. In fact, my last email from a Heritage consignment manager was them telling me, to my surprise, they don't accept consignments of lots sold in certain categories due to poor repeat performance. Wish I knew that before.
  21. Serious question, do Frazetta paintings have pencils under them? I have watched a few "how to" videos by modern fantasy artists and am surprised how common this seems to be. It seems a bit like cheating to me, in a way. (note: am not a painter).
  22. This is where I am at. The paintings are great but I think the real talent is seen in some of the inked pieces personally. Th real tragedy is the high res HA image of this painting does nothing to solve the debate about what the "ball" is here.
  23. I think you'd be surprised how many people ask about COAs for things of relatively low dollar value. I am talking <500 dollar animation cels.
  24. I assume its probably NOT a good idea to leave that thousands of dollars payment I just received in my paypal account??
