  1. I follow this gallery because they primarily deal in tribal art (hobby 1 I can no longer afford), but this seems relevant, or not. https://mailchi.mp/tambaran/tambaran-2-presents-gabriel-ortega-2938485?fbclid=IwAR0EvYJMWIoAJ8GqUgnjVVDqjScJEb-nYIANyCRctGZN4sNBBZQLQKVck7Y https://mailchi.mp/tambaran/tambaran-2-presents-gabriel-ortega?fbclid=IwAR3-QVvpZgH8QomdMBfHXeX51Pb6dMlVKRCHE793qKiyaK4_SC4_-hqGDyo https://mailchi.mp/tambaran/ready-for-some-action-opening-tonight-gabriel-ortega-super-heroes?fbclid=IwAR2szT6gpdEriTX_g0O2Y0azfuTBYht2-3oR4QVOdv5X-IjDGFjB1IaI7-I edit: seizure warning...
  2. I just can't see the point of this. I understand the concerns that drive the behavior but buying the real deal to frame the copy is just...weird to me. That said, I frame pieces and then hide them in the closet, or more often they are on the floor against the wall turned frame side in to avoid the light exposure. I have lots of things draped as well. So yeah, I have my own issues
  3. Damn was hopeful when I saw this notification. Alas...Currently in AZ, a no tax state, I think. I assume they will email me an update if/when this changes?
  4. Also, I know the collector that has many of the really rare pieces including the highest graded Vamp # 1. He recently had that, and several others recased. Having seen the newer cases I don't think that is a good thing. I have two newer graded items that are both Newton ring fields.
  5. CGC still has a monopoly IMO. That is, you can buy a green label Vamp 1 on eBay that is clearly a real Frazetta sig, but it sits unsold. Heritage sold a good number of green label signed books from the Frazetta estate that way underperformed the yellow label equivalents. I know why I held off on the latter, even with that provenance.
  6. Yes a Tally Ho, if you can believe it. I posted pics of the corpse a few pages back.
  7. No they are not. That is the problem. There is a single sig Neal Adams on eBay right now that is part of this census.
  8. Where is the link with the current list of states sales tax is charged? I cannot for the life of me find it on HA. There is this: https://www.ha.com/c/ref/sales-tax.zx But no list.
  9. And the number is only decreasing as insufficiently_thoughtful_persons crack them out of slabs. Ok I know of only one case of this but still. I think the number is around 100-150 books for two signings. It is somewhere on this board.
  10. I'd much rather pay 2.5x this price and have bought the Chamber of Illusions painting that went unsold at Profiles.
  11. To confirm, I was asking if it was possible that the blue clouds could be removed to reveal the original (finished?) design that would include some barbarian of sorts (and this make it much more Frazetta-like). FWIW I much prefer the original Cat Woman.
  12. Regarding the Demons and Bear Frazetta that just sold. Does anyone know if the original painted barbarians might be under the darker blue clouds added subsequent to the project falling through? I know something similar was done with the cover for Eerie 5. A gamble for sure.
  13. More worried for the consignor or the person who wins it this time around. The Kaluta was on CAF for a short time. Based on the asking price on CAF I won't be in the market for the Conan piece even if a fraction of the ask. I don't know his market, at all it seems. That said, I'd love one of Kaluta's Dragonlance covers and the Metropolis piece Albert has is pretty amazing as well.
  14. No no no. The auction starts in 2018, ends in 2019 and you actually receive the art in 2020.
  15. That's the problem with these one off sales like this. I almost had nycomix down to 7k per book, but then this happened.... Sean I sent you a PM.
  16. Are you sure there are two Vampi 1s at 9.4? The census only shows 1, which is double signed by Neal Adams (not a good thing IMO). Like wpbooks01 said, I too am fascinated by the entire Frazetta CGC SS phenomenon. You can read my musings back and forth in the Frazetta Motherload post, which I highly suggest reading from the start if you haven't. I will just say that none of it really makes sense, but it doesn't have to. And this is what makes it interesting to observe and participate in. You can buy plenty of beautiful things with his signature on it (and a much better one at that) for much less money. Two examples are the death dealer lithos (1-1.5k) that come with beautiful, prime era, gold ink signatures on a high quality lithograph of his most famous work. You can also spend around 4k for one of his hand colored WF 29 prints that not only comes colored by his hand, but is hand signed with a prime era signature AND a unique remarque. So it is all about opportunity cost. I could never spend that amount for a commercial item like a magazine just for its signed cover. And, I currently own three Frazetta SS pieces so did drink the Kool-Aid a bit on these. But I won these at auction and am into them for around 1200 each. I can live with that. To add to the "they aren't making any more of these" arguments, note also that the finite number he signed is declining. For example, a total manic opened one of the Tally Ho CGC SS pieces, if you can believe it. Pic of the corpse attached
  17. The Wall? I saw that in my feed this morning, wasn't sure if that was a recent sale or not.
  18. Been meaning to ask if the TSR artist reprints (CC, LE, KP) are worth the money. 200-300 for a Keith Parkinson giclee seems high, but then the art will never, ever, ever grace my walls now will it.
  19. Thanks for asking, I did some reading around myself and there isn't a very clear explanation. I think it all unfolds in real time and in places not easily tracked and synthesized. In short, some creators think the liberal bent to comics is ruining things. Sides are formed, people argue on Twitter. Boycotts are called. But I couldn't find a clear list of who is on which team and why. Honestly I am more interested in hearing Barry Windsor Smith stories. And one can only imagine how things would be if all of the Golden Age crowd were still with us.
  20. And the pound has been on a tear vs USD this past month. Basically for US buyers it is hammer x 1.23 x 1.35, and then the obligatory 81 pound shipping estimate.
  21. That poor floor bidder... quite a few unsold Indiana Jones lots
