  1. I think we are one banker away from the possibility of 6 figure classic DnD artwork (maybe we are already there, I don't even know where to read/look). If I had the money and the original art for some of Elmore's key pieces came to market I would swing for the "will be buried with it" fences. Classic mini box artwork also seems completely unexplored. I know the green box art for the Heritage Dungeon Dwellers line was thrown out, the white box artwork is locked up. Dark Tower artwork would be amazing.
  2. Several coolines pieces in the auction including the Spiderman Obama cover that I do believe was the subject of discussion on the boards. I also recall the last Conan cover being on their site.
  3. I share my CIS experience where I can. I used them for several years, no claims, no issues. Sold a chunk of the collection with two damaged items in the mail. They paid both, and then proceeded to drop me entirely. So be aware of filing more than 1 claim within a certain amount of time.
  4. Heresy, but I agree completely. My first reaction when blowing it up was, hmmmm. Then I went to ATEC to compare.
  5. I thought the point of bearing the high pressure at the office was so that you could spend 5 figures on superfluous things in life.
  6. I swear there are hardly any deals to be had. I watched a lot close 20k against a pre=auction estimate of 600-900, small obscure auction house in Washington stumbled on to an exquisite piece of tribal art; under the radar just doesn't seem to happen anymore.
  7. I can't see the prices either will bring, just not for me I suppose. But then I am eyeing <gulp> Kirby 2001 art, which tells you something about my off kilter taste
  8. I contacted a well known restorer about this issue and the quoted costs for a standard size page were 450 to clean the old glue off and remount and 75-100 to do a single bubble stat replacement.
  9. Wow, alignment must have been fun. Vodou had it backwards on the order, but I do think the larger art would work better on the top of the comic (personally). I actually like the way people did up some of the Blade Runner pages with a smaller logo type insert in the top right corner to balance the art and comic page, though I have been looking at props lately and the prop world seems more accepting of explanatory text on framed pieces.
  10. One heartbreaking (for me) exception. Public (outdated comps) on these Williamson pages were in the 3-4k range so when the proxy hit 10k days out I knew I was done. Curious where this puts Williamson Blade Runner pages (also WTB). Whoever won that ROTJ page, congrats a beautiful piece of art.
  11. Yes sir, a Tally Ho # nn (1944), the Giunta cover one. Unreal.
  12. +1 I have dabbled in many different collecting fields so some of this wasn't much a surprise. I did like like that they put a point on the process of chandelier bidding, which I always knew about but never really felt affected by, until this past summer when I realized it was happening mid-auction, to me.
  13. Where are you seeing the shipping label created on the site? I don't see anything, no email from Fedex either.
  14. Bumping this one, as I had forgotten about this auction. It didn't sell but I was curious what it go to. I assume a reserve was unmet.
  15. Not sure if this counts, a bit of a crossover piece. This is the original painting done for the poster included with The Hobbit record. The dwarves, in particular, are very Disney-fied. Its a large piece, on artist board, now framed. In retrospect the framing was a waste since I can't bring myself to actually expose the piece to sunlight. The actual poster is below.
  16. 3 weeks and a day since I paid for my lots. Nothing. Is it normal for it to take this long to ship out lots?
  17. Funny, I was thinking of two movies when I made that comment: BR 2049 and every SW movie released since 1999.
  18. My 2 cents, waiting to see if you can live with a <insert anything> is like needing to go to a second viewing of a movie to convince yourself you like it.
  19. Do people typically list stuff for sale first before going the auction route? Or is the fresh to auction route better overall? I ask because I am interested in the Conan strip but also wondered why I never see these things being offered for sale. Perhaps I am not looking in the right places, hence the question.
  20. link is circular, just goes back to this page. https://www.amazon.com/Totally-Awesome-Greatest-Cartoons-Eighties/dp/1608877132
  21. Best of luck on this. Maybe one day they can expand their tribal art auctions overseas as well to take on the likes of Drouot, which I have never been able to figure out.
  22. The dirty secret I came to learn about this "limited edition" print market is that they can change the format or paper size and do a new run and the collectors of this stuff are apparently fine with this. I have also never understood the appeal of canvas prints. I think they look awful. The texture works when doing a repro of an oil painting but what's the point of a canvas reproduction of GSX1?
  23. Anyone pick up the title cel just now? I was waiting for a month for that one, no clue what I thought it would go for but 4.5k... I could never find that image and determine its exact use as it doesn't seem to have been the actual title shown at the time. Still as a "1 and done" kind of piece it was nice.
  24. My first thought on seeing that "Rick in bed" page was the same type of scene from 28 Days Later, a movie I enjoyed and put its own stamp on the zombie genre (though nothing like TWD). Art quality aside, I think this page sums up an aspect of the zombie phenomenon that others do not - the escapism, ends of days, what would you do if the SHTF.
  25. COAs are generally worthless, Ones that are physically separated from the item being authenticated are less than worthless. Why would the PGX certificate necessarily go along with any of the pieces? On a related note, I was looking at a signature series piece signed by a deceased artist. But someone cracked it from the slab. They still had the label but CGC won't touch it. 1/3 census is now 1/2 (+1 green label if ever reslabbed).
