  1. I didn't read it that way BUT as someone not collecting for return I admit I do have a mental disorder. But then go to CAF and see some of these people's galleries where they dozens of unique artists represented, not even counting the number of individual pieces. Its insane.
  2. Yes I really never saw my purchases as "investing" but I'd be lying if I said I didn't wish the world/market rewarded my "taste" numerically, even if I never sold a thing.
  3. Lots of investment talk about timing, all fair and fine. But lots of people lucked out (and continue to luck out) just by happening to be interested in the herd's interests - superheroes. Me? I have no interest in superheroes. Never had. All the talk about dead money needs to give me a visit as proof "colllecting what you love" only works if it happens to be Star Wars, superheroes, and some other properties I am forgetting, for sure.
  4. Appreciate your input here. I get it. This is a book that has a ton of pages and I find it hard to differentiate what seems to be a lot of rather bland pages (I like the art style and the source material so...). I suspect it is Gull caugfht in the act here that drives the price, as opposed to the piece that just closed on HA where another act was being done I always think of this book when that "what makes an A+ page" thread gets bumped to the top.
  5. Even more interesting because westerns are generally considered a dead medium, or at least way off its earlier generational highs. Reading the wiki and I can see why i wouldn't give this a second glance. Amazing that a show on politics and corruption has legs given the times we live in. So much for escapism Another show I dropped without a second thought was House of Cards. And somehow I just knew that Handmaid's Tale would never resolve
  6. Probably not the thread, but speaking of soft prices vs not I believe this is a record for a page from this book and don't quite understand why. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/story-page/eddie-campbell-and-eddie-campbell-from-hell-7-story-page-20-original-art-mad-love-publishing-/a/322347-49025.s?type=bidnotice-tracked-endofauction
  7. To John's point about fragmenting viewership, I never heard of Yellowstone (the show) before your post. No clue it existed. TWD should be studied, if not already, for one specific reason. So many people, myself included, tuned out at the same time - when Negan killed two main characters. That was the end of the season as I recall and we just never cared enough to start watching again, and it wasn't like Glen was some massive fan favorite of mine either. I think it was the brutality of the scene, or just exhaustion about the whole thing, and I was one paying per episode on Monday mornings on Amazon (which I never do). At any rate, I will pop in to random threads like this on TWD and its amazing to see how many people say the same thing about when they stopped watching.
  8. per batch, per category though. I am sure they bend the rules all the time for their best customers, but it makes one wonder how they get so many low value items in their auctions.
  9. I wonder if the 10k min to consign will revert back to the 5k level it was at, what, 6 months ago??
  10. Don't think I've seen a more appropriate provenance line before...
  11. Lots I were tracking were pretty soft, mostly vintage Star Wars toys. The long header display hammered at 11.5 against an estimate of 20-30k, and I don't think it got a single bid the day of the auction.
  12. Crazy sale. I learned of it too late from a FB post in the gaming art group.
  13. I know this frame, have used it for dozens of pieces. If Michael's ever gets rid of it I am toast
  14. Pretty bold. I like it. Would never work in my house with its 1950s ceiling height though.
  15. Glad I'm not the only junkie that spends too much time searching for the upcoming gems on HA.com. March International already posting
  16. Very naive question but if they admit they delivered it to the wrong address would they be paying out if you didn't purchase insurance?
  17. He is one of the few artists that seems to actually respond on Instagram. Leo Manco, not so much.
  18. Same for me. Not sure why. Ususally its pages of Watched items.
  19. My current struggles with Fedex on some graded books being returned. Note I live in Phoenix. I was certain they were stolen from the local hub, but they now seem to be on a truck making its way along I-20. This suggests that when you open a case with them they have some very accurate GPS data that normal tracking doesn't tie in to. Thankfully this isn't a five figure consignment on its way to HA.
  20. Anyone have any more suggestions or recommendations based on completed work from the list of folks above? I just got a sunned piece of OA that really needs lightening. Thanks
  21. Does Bechara have the full art to Vampirella 3 or is that a prelim?
  22. Absolute scum even if they had nothing to do with the theft. A finder's fee??
  23. Same, lots of pre-auction interest and just no desire to spend money today for some reason. And the auctioneer knew that some stuff was taking a dive. He kept on that Segrelles for a long time and was stating values mid lot, like "this is a 10k piece guys" on something stalled at 6k. And he was right, I thought. Not sure why bought the first Segrelles page they ever auctioned a few years back for north of 40k, but they can't feel great right now. Maybe the tear and dedication held the price back on that cover, or its limited market use? It was also used on a book by Gary Gygax on gaming!! Quite the real estate. edit: Just saw what the Kirby 2001 page did, wow! Strong price I think. Yes its movie conan and Treasury Edition (not the weird offshoot) but its a pretty calm page all things considered, for 30k
  24. So far the few lots I had on watch seem light today, the Gimenez pages, the Moebius page. I suspect consigning the entire first Metabarons book had to drag on prices a bit. The Segrelles also seemed very cheap.
