  1. you might try Doug he tends to know about these things... but Campbell's remarks are pretty costly something like $1500 US or try the Signature series thread I've never asked for a sketch personally from him I'd be curious to know how much they are considering his remarks are expensive (at least for me anyway )
  2. Bought this at HPB for like a 1$ long time ago, 'bout what it goes for now I was in time to buy the red marker version of the Champion 1 but couldn't pull the trigger, probably could have bought 2 and sold one to make my money back but still... oh well
  3. Did they mention what the "holiday card" meant? on the site it says that the tickets go on sale Nov 23rd and order by Dec 9th and get a "holiday card" or something like that...... Anyway if no one knows that's cool Didn't go in October so the anticipation is killing me.... they said they'd give a preview of "prices" this week, anyway it will probably be next Monday, we'll see.. but a "limited edition holiday card"? I'm curious if that just meens they'll wish me Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays anyway's I'll try and chill just excited.
  4. The direction the head of the hammer flies would depend on how the haft broke - it's totally plausible as pictured. You would think that Quinn couldn't swing the hammer hard enough to break it, I mean she can't be swinging wood that'd break any time
  5. No that's way too much. Ya I was joking but it put me in a good mood cause I had bought a rather expensive CGC book one time and the seller put a Doom 1 2099 in with the shipment for me to have something to read,
  6. Do the emails tell how much for a regular 3 day pass?? and, Do we expect this to sell out quickly?? I want to go but a week from this Wednesday is going to come up fast.... Are we expecting it to be as much as it was for spring or summer this year?? I kinda forget how much that was....120$ --- 140$?? Need to know how much to save...... no worries (to whomever) it'll work out just trying to get all my ducks in a row
  7. That is ----- crazy deadpool I only have 3 feet tall by about 1 1/2 wide room in the cabinent......doesn't have to be in the glass cabinent etc I'd have to save if I wanted to spend that much..... In another place I wanted a hulk vs wolverine......and perhaps a juggernaut.......I have soooo many Harley quinn's and deadpool's, two batman's, one Michone, and one lady deadpool, But nothing big or tall, I'm open to other characters though.... Are sideshow's the way to go, or is there another genra or name brand?? Also does it need to be that expensive to be e'mmmmm quality or "cool" which is always subjective......
  8. There's really no "premium" either way. Not enough people care. -J I agree will it ever be a "big deal"? Doubt it but it's interesting. (to me anyway) While I would not seek out "newstand" editions just for that fact......"I" think that they look better in a CGC case than non newstands of the CA...... if it's a preference for you then to each his own... I read somewhere or another that the ones with Spiderman in the box sold for more, but that was just a google search, I don't think there is that much of a difference for it to be in any kind of GPA but I wouldn't know
  9. I'd say not bad worth the money for something small-----@Gamestop I have yet to make a big statue purchase, I've got a glass cabinet with removable shelves...so removing the bottom shelf I have about 3 feet------ Any suggestions on what I should get?? It doesn't have to be new!!!.... considering money....
  10. SOOOO: TIckets go on sale the day before Thanksgiving, correcct? 11/23/2016?? for the first weekend in April Also, Will the price of admission be posted before they go on sale, so that we can see how much we need to save/spend etc.?? If so when......?
  11. I bought for $50 a: Black Bat Scott Campbell limited to a 100 copies red print variant #1 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG BTW I'll sell for 75$ or tree fiddy
  12. CGC should reholder though , I don't know about regrading----a rip?? bah humbug Hope it works out...
  13. Sounds like you had a lot of fun!! obtaining all the sigs... was there anytime for anything else?? that's a lot of lines Congratulations
  14. My opinion may not be everybody's cup of tea, but: I liked the movie it was funny----well written-----and it wasn't "every movie I've ever seen before" but just told in a different way------ BUT TBH I was never big on Dr. Strange in comics, I think I've read one here and there but most of the comics I picked up here and there never featured him, so not going in to the movie with my mind "preblown" I connected with the characters etc It was good, but I didn't have any expectations and I just enjoyed it.....
  15. The world didn't know that Xavier was a mutant?
  16. Mad Magazines are generally not worth a lot of dough compared to comics etc., for the simple reason that Mad was popular outside of the comics realm, and had a very high circulation level. (In 1973 and 1974 the circulation actually topped two million.) Here are Mad's circulation numbers by year -- starting in 1961 (not sure why it starts there -- maybe reliable figures are harder to determine previously?). As you can see, the lowest circulation occurred during the past 10 years, with this year being the lowest of all. (And by the way, I heartily recommend subscribing -- you can get 3 years for 35 bucks or something, and they send you extra goodies like a limited-edition poster. Totally worth it.) As a result, perhaps some of the most collectible Mads are the ones from 2000 onwards. I have sold Mad runs on eBay a couple of times, and I've found that if I sell a batch of 1980s Mads, it tends to go for a lower price than a batch of 2000s Mads. That isn't to say older ones aren't collectible. They are very cool Magazines, and the quality of the writing, cartooning and editing is part of the reason so many people held on to their magazines over the years. The mid-1950s issues tend to be the most valuable if you find some in nice condition, especially #24 through #43 or so, but any with Wally Wood, Norman Mingo, and especially Kelly Freas covers are cool. After that, there are certain issues that are just fun to have. The 1960s issues are all really good with excellent Norman Mingo covers. The marijuana cover from 1968 or so, I think it's issue #118?, tends to be much harder to find than others, so pick that up if you see it. Also, the cover with Frankenstein, and the King Kong cover, are a little tougher to find. The 1964 "Alfred of Arabia" issue is always a good one to get because it's the first one to feature the back-page fold-in. All of the 1970s and early 1980s issues are relatively easy to get, though it's fun to find them in nice condition with un-folded back pages (due to the Al Jaffee fold-in). If you can find the issue with the raised middle finger, from 1974, that one is always in demand, because it actually got the editors in trouble, and they had to issue an apology to subscribers. It's a classic cover though. The later issues are a hodge podge in terms of collectiblity or whatever. I think you should buy them if they're a good price and you're interested in having fun reading them. I don't collect the regular monthly issues much anymore, but I go GAGA when I find an Annual, especially from the start to around Mad Special #6, that still has the bonus, and doubly so if it's still attached and intact! I think those Mad's are well worth collecting and in multiples if you can find them in decent shape. I NEVER pass them up if the price is right...and surprisingly even these days bargains on them can still be found!!! Well I went back by and there didn't seem to be as many as the first time (the day before) They didn't have any of the one's you mentioned but they did have some of the spin-offs I think I read about earlier in the thread----like "Cracked" and some other ones---- It seemed obvious (as I had never seen them there before) that someone had just donated or sold the little bookstore some random issues----probably found in an attic or garage They also had some Vampirella TPB or omnibus----one of them-titled Vampirella vs Dracula They also had The Dark Knight Returns----Frank Miller TPB----which was interesting since I had not read that whole series----- They also had The Tick---Omnibus TPB 2---that was what I originally went back for
  17. It's weird most of the slabs that I thought I overpayed for (after checking) were newstands BA12 NM98 UXM266 now that I know about the 2 digit skinny bars all the ones I got a "steal" deal were direct sales except ASM 300 While I personally "like to collect" the newstands it's just personal preference....it's not on the CGC label I want it in writing haha that newstands are rarer in high grade
  18. So take ASM 300 for example: Spiderman in the box is a direct edition Barcode is newstand later they would both have a bar code but one would say direct meaning direct and one would say nothing and that would be the newstand edition Do I have that right? 1980s direct editions either had a line through the barcode or they replaced the barcode with words/art. Some 1990s barcodes say "Newsstand Edition" or "Newsstand Sales" but some say nothing. Direct Editions in the 1990s started saying "Direct Edition" or "Direct Sales" in the box with the barcode, but some don't. (Comic shops started using barcode scanners at the register.) Are you all ready for the secret of newsstand identification? Barcodes are two sections of lines. The wide first section (twelve numbers) and the little second section. The second section of the barcode is always skinny for newsstands (two numbers). The second section of the barcode is five numbers for direct editions. Direct: Newsstand: Now, start looking at those tiny pictures on Ebay... and see what you can find. Thanks for the clarification and I hate to pile on here but: I have an Iron Fist 14 and a Xmen 101 that fits that description but that was in '77 & '76 are these the same as newstands since they don't have the bar/line diagonally?? Probably so but I didn't know if it was an decade thing or if all comics in the 70's were newstands?? I was born in 81 so it is a little before my time. Thanks for the feedback so far I find it very helpful EDIT: I ask this question because you have clarified 80's 90's and seems the 00's to '16 just curious about the BA
  19. mostly 25 centers in the thread, with a few modern sprinkled.....when I saw they were starting the mad tv show again and then that it was at the bookstore.....idk guess i'll call see how much their asking for'em, could be a good read regardless
