  1. "I want to be a teenager with a shell!" Probably a too obscure TMNT cartoon reference
  2. This kind of thread always catches my attention! I tend to agree with the sentiments. Rookie cards are not a literal translation when you consider origin books that are sometime 1st app or are later or other. I came back to comics in 2014 and assumed origin comics were either "still a thing? Never were a thing? Or 2nd fiddle to appearance order?" It was at a time when there still seemed an ongoing story in theaters, with it seeming good vs bad and played out spectacularly! That alluded to collecting, but then eventually and over time, I realized every movie is not an "ongoing story but instead really an origin movie from a certain point of view, which then trickled down to comics with appearances, origins, and other books" visa vie speculation. I enjoy comics, but I've tried taking friends to movies, but they're saying afterward "liked it but is every movie an origin?" Which is unfair, because you "would like a new villain or hero in every movie right?" Otherwise it is reoccurring television episodes with a bigger plot? That is outsider views over simplified and makes my brain hurt . You need to really like the subject matter either way! with any medium they offer different things in art, style, presentation, and nostalgia. There is enough of it that if it has quality should still move the heartpace of adrenaline rather than exasperation!
  3. Indeed. It will take time to do so, considering they are running a business and cost benefit of acquisition. Where is my jetpack!
  4. I really do not want to not bite the hand that feeds, because I'm more inclined to enjoy cgc jumping in, rather than down the move. Yes it took 20 years to gain momentum , confidence, market availability etc. I'm sure that within another 20 years there is room for improvement I'm not discouraging the conversation, just the reality that is in my brain. Even if they reholder authentication in five years, then they get the submissions from reholders and an announcement etc. Nothing is perfect in life, although we encourage ideas for improvement, always. The guy who suggested this in the office one day with the chart graph is wanting to walk back in for a promotion a year from now! Doesn't mean they don't care, just what it took for them to even take up the idea without getting to ideological.
  5. I have all the regular covers in slab formation, this one and also the gold are the last 2 I need. Saving for comic con at the moment, but regardless, I hope you found it cheap enough to make do with whatever profit or whenever profit, if you feel like keeping it and for how long I feel you have a on your hands!
  6. By obvious answer you mean CGC gets paid. This is no different than any other reholder… … if it appears tampered or damaged then absolutely regrade, otherwise authenticate the signature and not force the owner to risk regrade. I bet you someone like Heritage won’t be risking regrading for a book like this. In all fairness in any reholder situation they were supposed to examine for damage, which they were not in the reholder scandal. So I agree with @Iconic1s and I kind of lean toward agreeing with cgc from a business standpoint, as it does seem normal for them to do. I don't think I'll ever get a perfect rationale for it, but I don't mean a "cgc as a business would do", I mean any business would do that happens to be CGC this go around. Like it flowing downhill from management that isn't expressed in a clear thought and that is is why it comes off as a money making decision, which may be true too, but again I don't think they're defining anything at the moment but trying to organize to roll it out. Reholder authentication sounds like someone under the top brass might suggest at some point, but now would not be the time to correct the boss So what I mean is rationally I agree with iconic but am sympathetic to those that are doing the footwork to roll it out. This rollout was a major decision and their dotting i and crossing t
  7. No pressing never has happened before the signing, I assure you. What it is, is the submission tracking shows at ccs: 1) because cgc has received your order 2) cgc has to keep track of it while it is there 3) you paid for pressing 4) therefore it is logged into that department as it should originate there after the signing.
  8. I was hoping so as well! Does cgc do signature series for game grading? Idk if they do or if I should but I noticed they had the metal gear solid (voice actor I assume?) guy attending....
  9. It was also a different boardie who had asked here, so I wanted to be sure to quote him. He was further up this page
  10. @MattM CS Same question, different thread, but is where it was "asked 1st" and didn't get tagged, but again I mentioned it in the post when I did tag and ask that time. Now Lord willing all questions should have a reply I believe.
  11. It is "possible" I suppose, could be considered by the competition slabbing companies that fee is already established, but I wouldn't blame nor put it past anyone to use it as a "reason" to do so.
  12. Ikr 🤣 And idk if there is a last announcement today, but Fan Expo Dallas alluded to it being a big name! I hope there is also enough contributors when I start a con thread! I know some people can't make it this year as far as people I know personally, so will be an adventure! Lord willing y'all will enjoy and or get some pics!
  13. Whew! Same here, thanks. Just to be clear, the package shows up on the tracking as stored at facility but not on your submissions page at all yet, ok cool. FYI books used to not go directly to sfg when "received", they showed up first on the submissions page AS received then sfg. So it's verbiage for me
  14. 25 book MODERN submission May 7 - Arrived at CGC's PO Box May 7 - Picked up by CGC (very end of the day) Did yours check in today? Or did cgc log in the books to your submissions today is what I mean? @Stefan_W As mine were a day before yours arrival, but cgc hasn't logged them in yet, I suppose is normal but again with recent posts I wasn't sure eek.
