  1. I like comics because when you buy one, it is it's own issue, as opposed to packs of cards where you might chase a certain one, but what about all the others in the pack? I never threw those away just to chase one card, but that got an accumulation quick. I didn't go to shows for it to learn the hobby as a kid to trade or trade up either A comic can come in a pack, but it's usually a 3 pack or 5 pack, you get like 12 cards in a pack which was more than half a sleeve at a time haha. I can also grade a comic, cards I just don't know, but cest la vie. I thought posting in the comics section about 1st app being like rookie cards was close enough to apropos the question or reveal I know nothing about cards But ya, I'd get fleeced if I didn't ask somewhere sometime!
  2. In short I've got the memories with family accumulating and stuff, I wouldn't think that I need the card from when I was 10 years old to remember it physically 🤣
  3. I've even got fishing cards and that are signed from some event I went to with my uncle. Nascar rubber tire cards from vehicles and etc. Just sitting there as a foreign object. If I don't ask now I'll get fleeced as I don't thing they're worth the paper printed, kind of like our parents with comics 😂
  4. Comics are straight forward to me, this market makes no sense whatsoever $50 for a complete sealed set, but $200 for a dead mint non Tiffany 10 Griffey jr? And $50k for a signed deadline mint? I couldn't grade a card if my life depended.on it, so there is that Idk
  5. Again a card is history and doesn't change nor pick up any new added detail, comparitivly to comics. I have these in the closet collecting dust and they'll return to dust if no one tells me I didn't fool myself with 80's 90's dreck? Lol It is what it is, these are the only sets I have. I got the 1989 Bowman from my parents as a kid, Christmas I think. I had a cousin who lived with us, it was all bonding that lasted into the early 90' presumably drek? I actually had nostalgia for it before comics, but didn't ever know what a PSA was, no one bothered to tell me. Given recent posts, it is the same today, but I'll give this section a shot in the arm before file 13 trash bin. It's not in the way, but binders of loose cards, and these sets are the easiest to take pics of. It is what it is, but rather than just then sitting and "not in the hand of a 'real' collector No affinity
  6. Lol I could stare at 40 year old cards, what is to know is known has been known and won't change is what I mean. I could stare 40+ years watching paint dry, but choose not too Anyway haha
  7. Lol so much to say, I should be patient if there is to be a response, but all this just doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever!
  8. And no mine aren't Tiffany, I wasn't even aware there was such a thing as a kid, I guess that is the difference between a $50,000 card and $200? In dead 10 mint pristine? Sigh 😞 I never put them in sleeves but might have thumbed through them from time to time idk
  9. Hopefully you have not just Ken Griffey but most of the other cards in those 1989 baseball sets. The only set I bought as a kid was in 1989, but it was Bowman, I still don't think it is worth much. It isn't sealed and I haven't counted the cards to see if they're all there. So much Kate 80's early 90's drek worth of baseball cards, and short of scrapping them to a card store, idk that I can come out ahead on anything Even modern stuff like dirk nowitzki rookie on an iconix card, it is all $10 stuff? I understand comics WAY more than sports stuff sigh
  10. Jiminy crickets, all that on a shelf, AND 130 shorts! I'm thinking the house is the main thing, congratulations on all of the above!
  11. This makes me feel bad for not book hunting in a while Comic con is coming, and I already had to sit out of several events and sales with the lcs
  12. As I said, good stories, but every issue in KOTR is eyed as "pivotal"; although, that can be personal opinion, I know the used bookstores by me singled that series out to price about $10 per book and for some "keys" on easy look up, they priced at $25. Was just adding, recently have seemed available "in the wild", and yet maybe they priced them high because there were several sales online, just in hopes of selling in store?
  13. Ah I had missed it For being fairly new, you did alright pressing according to the graders notes, it appears so, guess the rippling just wasn't the major defect? Shame how it came back ever lower, but I have a similar 0.5 and yet complete book I thought about reassessing. It is an older label, but it IS fairly raggedy, anyway thanks for the update, helps convince us "others!" Edit to say an at least complete book doesn't belong tmk in 0.5?
  14. It cane back lower? What was it initially, if you dont mind if now a 4.5.
  15. Idk that the modern star wars "thread" @TylerHam gets enough traction here. Ironically I found a cheap cgc 9.4 of a 2006 modern Star Wars issue today! I was tempted, but decided I was just buying to buy and yadda yadda and so on. Idk if any of it has traction, and while I enjoy reading star wars l, it is easy enough to find in the dollar bin. In short idk why any are keys, comics are good but is the faith for them brought about by movies and or other? In short I chickened out. My slab was star wars legacy 2 but only a 9.4. I hesitate to mention here unless I wanted it, but modern 9.8 or bust, most here might pass anyway 😂 I had found the hasbro reprint in the dollar bins, and figured a nice first print slab would be nice. That and it is an Adam Hughes cover. Talk me into it or tell me to be interested and wait for a 9.8 Haha
