  1. Sure, but we're talking about the REAL graemlins, and not image URLs.
  2. Sorry, but many of these problems will NOT be corrected, as it's either a bug or a feature UBB no longer supports. And most of us are NOT whining, just stating our freedom to choose whether to go blind or not.
  3. I'm waiting til tomorrow morning, then it's Marketplace until it gets fixed.
  4. It just gets worse and worse. I went to the Marketplace, saw that there were 20+ new posts, then headed back to General to read something quick, but when I went back to the Marketplace, suddenly all the new posts were gone/read. That never happened on the old UBB, and unread posts would stay resident if you quickly ducked in and out of a forum.
  5. It does strain my eyes and the act of looking at the screen for any period of time does induce focus issues and other irritants. Not to mention the grey-turd like color scheme does nothing for my mood. The two LCDs I use regularly are the Dell 2407 and 2405, and with that kind of real estate, the putridity of the CGC Forums are certainly magnified.
  6. Maybe this is all a plot by the big dealers to ruin our eyesight so that they can pawn off F/VF books as NM.... In the land of CGC, the one-eyed man is king.
  7. Likewise...I don't have any problems with the boards affecting my eyes. Then I bet they're screwed to begin with.
  8. Okay, after looking over the "old" CGC Forums and some other forums I enjoy, here are a few observations: 1) The message text area MUST be white. No question there. 2) The font is small and somehow *wrong* for the new format. It's like the open space is defaulted to around 30 and the actual font is only 8. 3) More sharp colors are needed, like reds for highlighting titles, blues for borders or other ways to spice things up. Right now the CGC Forums look like a turd floating down a mud river.
  9. I was thinking the exact same thing... Go here: http://web.archive.org/web/20070125000240rn_1/boards.collectors-society.com/categories.php?Cat=0 Oh man, it's so freaking clear and easy to read....
  10. I have better than 20/20 vision, or at least I did before Arch downgraded the forums, so I am keeping it in perspective. I honestly have trouble focusing after being on here for awhile, and others have commented about headaches due to the color/font/visuals on here. Personally, I'd take my vision and health over my house anyday.
  11. - are you now on the CGC payroll Bruce? Come on, that's like searching Google and coming up with totally unrelated pages, which would "expand my horizons in other areas". When I'm reading the CGC COMICS forum and I hit ACTIVE TOPICS, then it should be quite obvious that I want to see the active comic-related threads right? Same with coins and cards.. otherwise, I'd navigate to the generic forums area and do the search from there. Logical, no? And it's not rocket science, as that's what the function does on other forums.
  12. Were you even HERE when the new forums opened up? Arch was toying with the settings and colors, and there were some really freakass things happening, eye-wracking color schemes, etc. which elicited the negative comments. Then Arch toned some other stuff up, hence the positive comments. It's similar to having your house remodeled, and nothing working when you open the door. Suddenly you're cheering when they get the toilets working and turn on the hot water. It's not that you are happy, but that anything would be an improvement. And some bozo walking in AFTER it's mostly fixed up and telling the family they were "all over-reacting" and that it "wasn't that bad" is exactly what you're doing.
  13. Another thing, the "Active Topics" feature doesn't seem to work right, and shows topics for the ENTIRE forum, rather than the area you are currently in. If I wanted to get into coins, I'd have a lobotomy and start shuffling through my loose change. I've never seen it work this way on other forums, and it's either an incorrect setting or a UBB bug.
  14. I'm not versed on this subject, but I can imagine that a TURD colored forum scheme is not going to put anyone in a good mood.
  15. Speaking of that, how do we figure out how many Registered and Unregistered users are on the forums?
  16. But they didn't have to, and could you imagine the older software, cleanly installed and on the new hardware base - smoking! I really hate change just because a new software revision is available.
  17. Sure, but that's likely due to the upgraded hardware and clean install, as I've rarely seen a new software revision that actually runs faster on the same hardware base.
  18. The PMs (in the future) might be a bit better, but EVERYTHING else is much worse. Horrible color scheme, minimal color gradient difference between read/unread posts, non-existent thread sorting, scrunched emoticons, terrible emoticons, no link to the "replied to" post, IE6 bugs, among many, many others.
  19. I think I've seen himpost a new thread for every book he sells.
  20. It cracks me up every time I look at it I did a triple take when I first saw it. Is this a joke?
  21. Because although it sometimes takes just short of a century, the guy usually comes through. I've bought from him multiple times, and he's always delivered and at some pretty good prices.
