  1. Hey, I think that accurately describes what went on in the Dale Roberts thread. If a newbie tried the same thing, he'd be run out of town on a rail, and his thread deleted in a NY minute, but because it's a dealer that some on here are friends with...
  2. Nope, you need one hardass, willing to lay down the law, without any regard for bias, friendships or azzkissing. I'd be perfect, but I don't have the time nor the inclination. Assembling a pack of inbred, dealer-loving, kow-towing wimps to "police" the forums would be totally useless, as transgressions would be allowed or disallowed based on who was posting it. Look at that insipid Dale Roberts thread, and all the board knucklehead support he got after pizzing on 2-3 major guidelines. Just because someone has some nice books, is a dealer, a friend, or you had a drink with him at a Con, is NOT a valid reason for turning a blind eye. What we need is an equal-opportunity board cop, who'd kick both a newbie and a dealer to the curb for the same infraction.
  3. I really don't get banner's continued insistence to "open the Forum-Only Marketplace up to anything", as allowing books posted at multiple venues would totally undo the "board split" as CGC devised it. If anyone can post any book, regardless of where it is currently for sale, then we no longer need the EBay, Dealer, Website area, right? That must be banner's intend then, to go back to a single marketplace forum? If so, count me out, as I do not need to wade through all the dealer, consignment and EBay listings to see what *true* forum sales are there. Isn't that why it was split in the first place?
  4. Let me get this straight, you're buying off some people called the "Donnelly Brothers"?
  5. Two faves of mine that I thought never got the attention deserved: Alan Davis Dale Keown
  6. Interesting - maybe CGC is bowing to public pressure? Too many buyers cracking open books and finding surprises?
  7. Who says "thineself" these days? I did yesterday.... Tis sooth, he doth say it not more than a fortnight agone!
  8. Ah, you gotta love this place. After being advised nicely of the board guidelines by several different people, this is what we get back:
  9. Wow, big surprise, as most of the groupies on here would kiss the feet of anyone with nice books to sell. Hitler's ghost could post on here and get support if his books were nice, so don't go patting yourself on the back too hard.
  10. But outside of that, what about the website blurb/URL to his dealer site? Links to outside sites for any purpose involving purchasing the offered books are not allowed.
  11. Sure, but all the books, scans, prices, and dealer website links were still there, so I assume the Mods took a dim view of his *closing*.
  12. But in this case it wouldn't have mattered, as Dale never admitted he broke any rules, and even slammed the Sales Guidelines themselves. Some people will never listen, and if someone wants to post on the CGC Forums, and NOT follow CGC rules, then we should be free to point this out to them, especially those that have been around and were obviously trying to circumvent them.
  13. That bugs the heck out of me too - newbs with POS books are ridden out on a rail for sneezing in the wrong direction, but someone comes on with connections and some nicer books, and board groupies are actively supporting their multiple transgressions? It's sad, really.
  14. I went TJ Hooker on him? I asked a simple question and Dale absolutely blew a fuse, calling me names, insulting my intelligence and basically acting like a tool. He also blew up on several other posters who brought the transgressions, and insulted them as well. But I'm the bad guy, right? EDIT: It looks like the thread got nuked.
  15. Because I was honestly surprised that the thread was still there, books still listed, prices still featured, and a BIG website link to Dale's dealer site. I felt that there had to be more than what was being posted, otherwise the Mods would have deleted it in a NY minute. Right? It openly flaunted several rules, but there it was, comics, scans, prices, website links and all. I assumed that something was going on behind the scenes and Dale was correcting his errors. It turned out I was wrong, and he actually *was* selling EBay Store stock while openly promoting his website. BTW, I do not think "groupie" is name-calling, but a very accurate representation of what was going on in that thread - with many openly (and insultingly) supporting Dale's right to totally contravene board regulations.
  16. JC being self-referential Another post by someone who knows nothing about the situation at hand. I came in late to the "big one", after all the "you're breaking the rules" posts had been laid down, the seller exploded, and then left in a huff.
  17. This place is going to HeII in a Handbasket. Lots of blatant rule-breaking, astute forum members pointing this out, which causes immature and irate sellers, who are in turn (if they have nice books) being supported by mindless, slavering groupies tossing every insult in the book. WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST FOLLOW THE RULES???
  18. Where's the "I Have No Frickin' Idea!!" option, because I have no frickin' idea.
  19. Kudos to Monkeyman, with a nice set of books packed so well that even his simian brothers couldn't harm it.
