  1. You need to read the Guidelines again, specifically the parts concerning "not for sale elsewhere" and "no outside links".
  2. You're joking right? Seriously, you haven't noticed that the more "anti-dealer spam" advocates (like myself) have virtually gone silent due to the revised rules? You know why? Arch has cleared up the dealer spam by clearly outlining the guidelines and threatening strikes to those who choose to ignore them.
  3. And I say that if a dealer wants to sell in the Forum Only area, then there should be the requirement of selling the books exclusively to CGC forum members, before they are listed on EBay or a dealer/consignment site. I don't see the big deal and I fail to understand banner's "oh, we're missing out on tons of prime books". Send dealers a want list like everyone else!! If I want to sell here, I wouldn't just list books I have on EBay or on consignment, and I don't think anyone else should either. Allowing it would also lead to abuse, guaranteed.
  4. Just so we're clear, here's the rule Banner is trying to revoke, and a change that you're agreeing with: 3. It must be an exclusive board-only offer. If the book is offered for sale through another venue (ebay, dealer site, personal web site, etc.) then it should NOT be offered here. It should be offered in the Sales Advertising board.
  5. I just don't see the advantage to these "books can be listed for sale anywhere" offers being posted in Forum-Only Selling, as along with the inherent spam and other stupidity, CGC would need to change the title of the forum. And the Forum-Only part is the base reason why it was split, so after the dealer stock lists and ComicLink sales posts appear, we'd all be petitioning Arch to split it yet again, thus defeating the entire purpose of the split in the first place.
  6. I think you should reread what banner wrote, as that's NOT what he's saying. There is only one person who is totally against dealer involvement (Divad) while the rest of us are more worried about rule-breaking Dealer Spam. If dealers adhere to the posted Guidelines, I have absolutely no problem at all.
  7. Remember, it's not just dealers, but collectors/mini-dealers with their own books listed on dealer sites, consignment areas like CL, private sites, or other online venues. No online ordering needed, as the owner can sell private, but there would be tons of useless advertising portrayed as forum sales. That rules keeps a lot of SPAM out of the forum.
  8. Exactly, and if these dealers *truly* wanted to be part of this community, there is absolutely no issue with them offering a forum-only sale of "new releases" before they actually hit the website. Not what you-know-who did (which was dealer spam) but a true forum-only deal, like if the Blazing One got in a new collection and gave us first dibs for a few days, then loaded the remainder of the books on his website after. There is nothing in the regulations that forbides that, but again, the dealers must *want* to be part of our CGC forum community, rather than just using it as an easy repository for their spam.
  9. You're insane. If any dealer, EBay seller, consignment house or other online sales entity could just DUMP their entire stock list on here, it would totally defeat the purpose of splitting the forums up. You do realize that most board members do NOT want Metro, Neatstuff, ComicLink, etc, to be able to post their online stock for sale here, right?
  10. This is a point of some contention, but logic entails that these early Fat Diamond copies are Whitmans. Others feel they are early Direct Market copies, but OS and other pubs state these started at bit later. One thing is for sure, these were in Whitman-branded multi-packs. I think they are Whitmans, as for example, X-Men 118 is the only X-Men comic from that era to have a Fat Diamond copy. So what happened to the Direct Market through those other 24+ months, it just disappear?
  11. There was one guy on EBay, who probably had a pile of Whitman packs, selling off lots of CGC copies of that book. What kind of condition are you looking at, as I likely have dupes, but probably not NM.
  12. Nope, and it's an infamous Whitman multi-pack edition that was mass produced. I have a few and have seen them for sale on EBay sealed in the Whitman pack.
  13. I've gotta congratulate Arch for taking the time to set a "code of conduct" for the two Marketplace forums, and for doing a kick-hass job of it. When the biggest issue I have concerns wording, you've got to be doing something right.
  14. It would seem we've gone past the "Auction Style" listings, and moved into BIN format.
  15. Yo Esq., just to see if the adjusted rules are clear enough, do you feel you'd be in the right, posting the EXACT same message that caused this furor? Want To Sell – Threads may be removed for failure to comply, and repeated issues could result in strikes. 1) Books must be CGC or raw only, or items directly related to comics. 2) No spamming. Group your for sale items into as few threads as is reasonable. Attempts to take up front page real estate by creating multiple threads for no reason are not allowed. 3) It must be an exclusive board-only offer. If the book is offered for sale through another venue (ebay, dealer site, personal web site, etc.) then it should NOT be offered here. It should be offered in the Sales Advertising board. 4) Links to outside sites for any purpose involving purchasing the offered books are not allowed. 5) It must list specific books with purchase prices. It is acceptable to bulk price, and/or to note that package discounts may be available, but you must list a starting price that you WILL sell for. 6) List scans or information about the grade of the offered books. 7) List estimated shipping costs, times, and methods. 8) List acceptable forms of payment 9) Prompt responses must be made to buy requests made through the boards (posts or PMs). 10) Threads may not be bumped to the top until a week after they have fallen off of the front page. 11) Thread title must start with "WTS:" and must give some indication of the types of items for sale.
  16. I'd recommend you ask him again - he just read what was there, after the fact, which was NADA after you deleted it. Smart move though, you knew you were gonna get whacked, so deleted everything before the hammer fell.
  17. I'm going to come out an apologize for being a part of that particular mess, and although Mark was clearly way over the line with his dealer spam and IMHO deserved all the flak he got, your sales thread was much closer to the line, and suffered mostly because Mark kept dropping your name as his "business partner".
  18. Here's the logical course of action: 1) Start a new thread on the EBay/Dealers section complete with auction/store/account link. 2) Post a link to that THREAD (not your EBay account or auctions) in the original Forum-Only thread to point people to the EBay sales forum.
  19. *inaccurate* I guess if you childishly delete ALL your offending posts, it's pretty tough for Arch to catch you.
  20. Excellent work Arch, and the only small addition I'd have is to not allow transactions through an outside dealer site or email ordering system. Sounds logical, but right now, it's allowed under the current rules, assuming no live URL to the site (just a generic "Go to XXX comics and order") is posted. Otherwise, a HUGE step in the right direction.
  21. But we're talking about 35-cent variants here, not 30-cent reprints.
  22. No such animal. yeah, don't the SW reprints have a blank UPC code box, anyway? And the Diamond price tag.
