  1. And I do like the western one too, including the SA Marvel revival!
  2. Y'know, I felt the same about the bike, even though obviously the concept called for it. I guess that's why I feel he needs drastic re-imagining. He was often played as a straight superhero...heck, even Champions membership...he needs someone who knows bikes and supernatural to do for him what Larry Hama did for GI Joe as a true military enthusiast. The bike should be both badass and ephemeral; flying and becoming intangible. And he needs art that is somewhere between Colan's TOD or early 70's DC gothic horror feel a la Wrightson or Redondo. I keep seeing him in those broad daylight superhero panels by Don Heck in Champions, or Milgrom in that Avengers issue that wrapped up the Champions storyline (desert, sunshine) and it just misses so much potential.
  3. Yes, +1 to everything, but also thank you for the courage to share your story beyond the fact of the stolen books. I cannot be the only one for whom it is a wake-up call. I don't sell on CL but I check out stuff to buy often...same difference, as surely the scam works in reverse (expecting buyers to show up with cash). I always leave it locked in the car until I can assess whether I am going to proceed, but that is not 100%. I would think many of us buy, sell or both there.
  4. I'm glad you're OK but what a stressful experience. Eyes peeled for your books here in the northeast.
  5. Yikes Solar! Will do! Glad you're unharmed. Your books? Taken from you? (Don't want to assume; could be posting for a friend; maybe they were just back from Florida at your LCS, etc...)
  6. Seems pretty popular to me; MS5 has been pretty hot. The character does have a very 1970's feel to him; maybe needs updating?
  7. Thx guys! My childhood LCS equated detached covers to poor condition (reserving even more contempt for coverless books) so I always need a little reminder that detached covers can in some cases reach into the Good range. Thx!
  8. Closing tomorrow! Thank you to all purchasers and lookers Last call for all you fence-sitters and head-scratchers. PM away!
  9. DC Golden Age team to the other DC Golden Age team
  10. Nope, you're right. He's one of the 5 DC heroes who it made through from GA to SA in continuous publication, albeit as a back-up/anthology title component, but so was Green Arrow.
  11. I wonder if that's for onsite submissions only? I recently sent in a total of six books; four just for grade and two for quick press and grade.
  12. Clearly a lower grade copy; I'm just not clear on how much additional impact the detached cover has in lower ranges. Seems like not as big deal as I thought as a kid. Anyone know the deal with how CGC treats detached covers? Thanks!
  13. It's all good ... Let's be honest with ourselves...somewhere in the space/time fabric, the dinosaurs are watching us humans and griping that they deserve another at-bat! (If they get it, maybe Turok and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs will finally heat up )
  14. Just read through this chain...things that stuck with me were "a key that is not being speculated upon" and reflections of the current culture, so.....in order these thoughts came to mind: Don't know where Justice League Dark stands as a rumored movie, but a well-executed Etrigan could steal the show. People love a good dystopia...Kamandi? And, outside the $70 parameters, but room left -- Namor is the original anti-hero of comics; pick your key and wait and hope. And man vs robot is a pending cultural moment; Random House owns the Gold Key properties; Maybe the stars align for Magnus one day?
  15. All, Here's the updated recap of what's gone/what's still available in this thread. (Also in the third post, 1st page, for your toggling convenience.) 16. Thank you! Not too terribly high-grade, but a cool find nonetheless.
  17. I'm thinking 4.5, though a reasonable shot at 5.0. Bright, flat, clean with nice pages. I think 5.0 depends on how they weigh the color breaks.
  18. Thx Doc! Was a new antiques shop, opened by a house clean-out guy who is not a comics guy. Helped him figure out what was what in his pile, ballpark stuff he thought he might move in the store, and got to make an offer on the older stuff. It was worth the time invested, as he said he had about 20 comics from 1940's to 1960's at home that he has pulled from houses over time and figured might be worth more than what he usually finds. He will put them in front of me next.
