  1. Can't be much fun being in a spotlight that fierce, can it.
  2. I can imagine a 100% failure rate if I tried. What's the latest on all this now, anyway. Has there been any further response from CGC?

  4. Well, he appears partial to a cheesy triangle, so.....
  5. A big Marwood Towers shout out goes to my good board friend Daphne for sending me some lovely Charlies which arrived in a bundle of excitement this morning courtesy of Pat and his Cat @rakehell This one was a possible upgrade to my existing copy.... ....until I looked inside: How fantastic is that! Not only did the former owner meticulously cut out our Margie in her underwear and her modesty saving outfit, she kept them neatly inside and they're still there after all these years. I say 'she' of course, it could just have easily been a swarthy fisherman from East Fife. I love the comic even more now, as it has clearly been loved itself Thanks again Daphers! Sparky and the flock salute you!
  6. Who doesn't love a massive Space Bobbly Acorn Beetle Thing cover
  7. Well it is a romance title so 'happy endings' aren't that surprising I suppose....
  8. @Electron @TheGeneral @comicginger1789 @Old Fashion PB and J Good luck guys - well played @Yorick so close!
  9. We're dealing here with a company that: advertises a crystal clear display, then insists that Newton Rings are normal and acceptable grades invisible comics slabs International reprints with the title and issue number of the US book that it reprints, not the book's actual title and issue number believes multiple celebrity signing submissions have no bearing on TATs gives first appearance designations to books that reprint first appearances knowingly adds titles in the census against the records of publishers who never published those titles tells us every book goes through QC when some of them go out upside down / in the wrong holder / accompanied by someone's hair Why should anyone of us be surprised by this latest explanation - if you could call it that? Typical questionable judgement. Typical failure to uphold what is manifestly right and proper. Typical CGC.
  10. 21 points overall, I think. Not too bad. Thanks for a fun contest everyone - it's nice to have something to play along with for a bit
  11. I think that just about sums it up, Lazyboy. While they lost me personally with their labelling strategy on 'international books' earlier in the year, it's becoming increasingly clear with this latest episode that there is a significant issue with judgment at the top of the CGC tower. And I find their high handed, tin eared responses to valid customer concerns, and their unwillingness to explain, a major turn off. What a sorry state of affairs this thread is to read. Universal condemnation yet they 'stand behind it'. Could they not at least stand in front of it, so we can't see the product of their misguided actions? I suspect that even those of us who do not use CGC's paid services would still like to see some standards of integrity maintained in the hobby by the third party grading companies. CGC seem intent on monopolising all the long standing rules and regulations, and unilaterally imposing changes to suit their own business needs as their power in the industry grows.
  12. 29, surely? I must say I'm disappointed. I never had Robot down as a speculator. Albeit a patently rubbish one
  13. That's a very nice example of buy one get one free there, Gad. Well done.
  14. Ted, Steve's dad, ditched Wendy sharpish, went on the run and even dyed his hair in a bid to escape his son's wrath. But Steve finally caught up with him and...
