  1. May the 5th is the day I created the page, but you'll see that I update it with the latest figures as they are discovered. It's not ideal, but hopefully better than nothing. Yep, I was originally constrained by the forum software as it did not allow users to amend posts after a certain time. So I created the journal pages to hold the latest positions on all the UKPVs I've documented, which is all of them. I have a small crowd of followers here, and they all know the drill now. Now you do too. One day I will get around to building my own website so I can make it suit my needs, rather than rely on this forum. It's free though, this forum, and a lot of the software I do like. Now that you've mentioned it though, I'll pop a note on the opening page (I now have special powers 10) directing new readers to the summary page. I can't do anything about its date though. I've done it about 500 times over the last five years and it's never worked for anyone so don't worry. Only certain members are allowed to build a frippery following here and I've never been invited to the club. Personally, if I found a summary of detailed comic research presented by John Morlar and Harold Pelham, I'd mention something about it to the author. Only Petunia seems to get it. One day of course, the Rover will get me and it will be the last one
  2. CGC have changed the URL for the forum, Speedcake. It used to be this: https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/ And now it is this: https://boards.cgccomics.com/ So if you have saved the site as a bookmark or link on any device, using the old URL, you will get this every time: You will have to delete all saved links and bookmarks to the old site URL and replace them with the new one. I've had to do it on my desktop, mobile phone and tablet. Bit of a pain, but if this update solves the 500 errors we'll be motoring.
  3. Just looks like a complete rip off of tbc to me. I won't be going to see it.
  4. She only posted in CG so some would miss it. A banner message would reach more members but its better than nothing and fair play to her for at least trying to keep us updated. Yes. Unnerving isn't it. We're all bloody board druggies
  5. I'll copy this to Dena's thread - probably a lot of people out there are still assuming error messages mean the update didn't work.
  6. Bookmark issues might be stopping people getting on, if my experience was anything to go by today:
  7. It does, yes, that is to say that it's on the list: Quite a rare one though - it took me a long time to find a copy. I chuck a McGoohan in every so often to see if anyone is awake. It rarely works.
  8. So you'd kill yourself, but there are some things you wouldn't sell to make it end? Get a new job Buzz.
  9. Now if we're talking real scarcity, this book is the only copy I have ever seen, and despite posting about it in my various UK Price Variant threads, no one else has ever come forward with a second copy: They will now of course! So how do you rate the scarcity of that? A first printing 1960s Marvel, that is currently the only known copy in existence? It doesn't follow that it is worth a fortune though. And I could post a whole host of other books for which my copy is the only one I have ever personally seen.
  10. If I did you could have one. I only have one Spidey USPV now - coincidentally, the $2.49 copy which I may send to CGC at some point: When I was Spidey collecting back in the day, and these books were unknown to the majority, I gathered a few $2.29 copies along the way to building the full set. I found them easier to get than the $2.49s. But that was some time ago, and things may have changed now. Here is my old record of what I paid: Since I started the thread on these, summarised here, and documented the full issue range for all the known Marvel titles (for the first time I believe) a lot more collectors have caught on to them and have likely begun hoovering them up online and in the wild. I did the above online from the UK. It's hard to make an estimate, but these are very hard to find books. Remember, it took some time before I finally found a copy of the regular $1.99 newsstand copy of Thor #17 and that was when a number of US collectors were on the case. So some of these books are right up there when it comes to scarcity.
  11. Back when I was collecting Spidey I went through spell of upgrading some of my raw copies by buying graded copies and then cracking them out. I already had graded copies, and just wanted some decent looking raws to go alongside them. Here's a few from the files: I also used to crack all the MJ Insert copies too, so they could sit with the raw collection (unless I managed to get two): This one I had no choice to crack as the seller posted it in a jiffy bag:
  12. Think once, think twice, think - never reply to Lizards2 with the word 'outgassing' in your post This from the website:
  13. Amen Such an obvious course of action, given how it looks, that it almost beggars belief that someone has to even make the suggestion in the first place.
  14. It did, apologies. It was more of a conversational opener, than a precise detailed breakdown of the specific event. Again, fairly funny given the preceding comment and context. Used sparingly, and with wit, it can make one smile.
  15. If you're referring to the case in my opening post, my message, added as a note to the PayPal payment, was this (my usual one): "Please pack them well with lots of card - my Postman likes to bend things! " I suspect that they didn't read it as it wasn't a direct message via eBay. But my frustration is that the thought did not occur to them in the first instance - the thought that comics might need some reinforcement beyond a jiffy bag.
  16. See, that was actually funny. The difference between those with wit and those who are full of that other useful four letter word that sounds like it. Exactly. You want your buyers to be happy, so what's the big deal if they ask for an extra slice of card or something? You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. I give those types a pass too, Andy. They've found some comics in the loft, don't understand the medium, but display a warmth that shows good intent. I can see the difference between those who are a little naïve, but with good intent, and those who are just lazy and indifferent.
  17. I'm not having any problems signing in. I use Google Chrome, and can access the site on my desktop, tablet and mobile phone. The only recurring irritation is this pop up.... ...which I have to clear each and every time I log in. I was told that ticking 'remember me' would solve that but it didn't. Signing up doesn't prevent it either. In the five years since the 'new boards' went live I have seen many periods where people start to report problems logging in. It's never universal - some can, some can't. I'm not an expert, but I always feel like it's a CGC software problem, and not something the user is doing. CGC doesn't like chrome today, that kind of thing. I've flagged this to Dena by posting a link to this thread in her thread regarding the software changes planned to (hopefully) get rid of the 500 errors. Maybe there will be something she can do.
  18. SKREEEE Nicely done Reggie. I must get a copy of the artist's edition one day. Not sure why I haven't.
