Issues Relating to The 19th July 2021 Site Update
Get Marwood & I replied to Get Marwood & I's topic in Comics General
There's a 'blast' joke in there somewhere I recall reading on the Invision site that it is configurable cosmetic functionality (i.e. our admins can turn it off). With a bit of luck they'll drop it like they did the side bar -
@comicdonna @skypinkblu Hello you two. There was an unannounced update today.... ...which is still running at the time of writing: Some things are now different - the most obvious is the update to the 'Boards Title' which now shows as follows: It's still running, as I say, but perhaps one of you could flag this to the admins via your moderators messaging system as there's a good chance they won't be aware of it if our recent PM correspondence is anything to go by. I'll have a scout around and see if anything else has changed and will post here if so. Thanks

I like how the webbing sits behind the main title, but over the top wording on that issue - it looks cool.

Archie cover price variants! 15 centers exist 1962-1963
Get Marwood & I replied to bill999's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
I spotted this on eBay today - it brings my summary table up to 80 confirmed issues: Interesting that it is a complimentary copy... -
Yes. A wonderful, witty, self effacing man.

I like that 'constipated' won out over, say, 'happy' or 'contented' for inclusion on the list.
-
On this rather jolly cover, once you've finished wondering from where Spidey's webbing would be coming were you to continue to plot it in the straight line beyond his hand, and why that same webbing seems to get thicker as it travels back into the distance to the tower... ....your attention is immediately drawn to the Thing.

I don't follow that aspect, but I wonder if threads like these have a bearing? Probably not - I suspect the majority of interested parties post on FB groups or elsewhere, but it could be that tabling the NBS subset in the way we have encourages more collectors to join in. It gives an indication of the size of the task which, perhaps, makes it feel more achievable. Not knowing the extent of what is out there might be a barrier to joining in for some. Who knows. -
Marvel UK Price Variants
Get Marwood & I replied to Get Marwood & I's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Aesthetically, yes I agree, but I have developed a fondness for our UK price stamps now, since focussing more on them. I think I said earlier, I never thought I'd ever be disappointed not to see one (on certain books at least). 9d, 6d, 3d.... -
Nicely done Grumble - as I went down the list, I was wondering whether the teeth monster would get the top spot

I think the overall quality of Charlton's output went downhill around 1966/7 myself - certainly in terms of what I like personally - but some of the romance titles happily buck that trend. I love this cover for example: She's just adorable, isn't she Interesting to see the progression from Silver to Bronze in that title - separated by a mere 15 years and yet seemingly worlds apart: Volume 1, #22, November 1961 Volume 8, #112, August 1976 @Crimebuster - as OP, do we have your blessing to extend into bronze here?

Marvel UK Price Variants
Get Marwood & I replied to Get Marwood & I's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
I see Darryl has listed what looks like an original owner X-Men run on the bay. 2-7 are pence copies, 8-12 T&P stamped cents (below), then it's back to pence from #13 on. Nice when it all ties in isn't it: -
