  1. Duhnun-duhnun, dun, dun. Duhnun-duhnun, dun, dun.... Duhnun-duhnun, dun, dun. Duhnun-duhnun, dun, dun....
  2. What does the indicia say? Is there one or two? I had a few Spidey Adventures flipbooks back in the day, with X-Men Adventures etc. There was one indicia which showed both titles and that determined the order / book title as I recall.
  3. It makes you want to start collecting them doesn't it
  4. Shall we try and raise him to see? @catrick339
  5. Me neither. Look great don't they. I've had a look around ebay / the web and can't see another bagged example like them. IW's are a bit like some of the Charlton's I'm collecting - so charming and (to me) interesting but with seemingly precious few appreciators.
  6. Uncle Scrooge #33 has been on the confirmed pence list for a long time now courtesy of this old picture that I lifted from ebay many moons ago: I do like a full cover image for the files though and a second copy finally materialised on ebay this week with a nice full picture of the whole cover: And it's the same copy as the one in the first picture! As well as the cut off bottom right edge, the seller has the others in the picture up for sale too. Too much of a coincidence. I like how these later copies have a single one shilling price, as opposed to a dual cover price. Makes them feel a little more authentic in a way. Nice cover isn't it. I do like a detailed multi panelled cover (see Charlton Fred) but I also like these bold simplistic images too. The Tom and Jerry ones are great examples. Simple, but very clever I think.
  7. They have made it rather difficult lately haven't they Stephen. I feel like I'm missing a lot of things. I didn't check the second one out. Probably won't be able to find it now. More chance of finding it in the sold listings if I type in "dog pot yoghurt" than "X-Men #1" nowadays...
  8. Yes, that's what I meant really. That kind of book seems to have had it's day.
  9. Evening all Part III (See Dell and Marvel Freds) Not often the DC thread gets a post is it Someone donated 6 boxes of comics at work this week, which happens once in a while, and as resident 'man who knows about comics' I did my usual thing of taking them home, going through them and getting them into sets for selling in our shops. There was about 1,000 comics in all, mostly modern DCs and it was clear they had been 'picked over' as there wasn't a damn thing there worth tuppence. Still, there was these 4 lone oldies, and they were obligingly all pence copies: I'll be scanning them for file upgrades at the weekend
  10. Evening all Part II (see Marvel Fred) I couldn't leave this one sitting on eBay for the comparatively measly sum of £5.49 when the seller said it was a 'NM+' copy: I already have a 9d copy - you can see why I went for another: Anyway, it may well have been a NM+ when he posted it but - despite me adding the following note: "Please pack it so that it arrives in the same condition advertised" - something like that - it arrived nearer an 8.0 due to the old 'single sheet of flimsy cardboard' packing scenario. Odd that, that a sheet of flimsy cardboard, with the grooves running across the width of the comic - could possibly bend during transit? Sacre bleu! Still, it's still a nice clean copy and I like it. I tend to let all ebay packing fails pass lately. Especially for relatively low sums. If I dug my heels in, I'd return / complain about 90% of everything I buy. It sort of goes with the territory at this level, which is completely wrong of course but there you go. Me, I pack 99p sales like a brick, in mylite sleeves, and get no feedback / acknowledgement at all on a regular basis. All's unfair in love and ebay isn't it Still no new finds for Dell. I wonder some times whether I've inadvertently catalogued the lot. Anyway, here's another, that came in the same bendy parcel: Nice miscut Earl! See ya
  11. Evening all This lovely looking 9d Rawhide Kid was sitting on eBay at 99p all week. I couldn't leave him sitting there at that price, despite having owned and sold a copy already this year. With 7 seconds to go I upped my bid to £4.49, sensing someone else would surely dive in. The under bidder - as it turned out - did indeed bid, but dived in one second earlier than me at £4.44. So I won for the sake of 5p - not far off what it originally cost in 63! Marvellous It's a lovely looking title, Rawhide Kid around this era. The huge red and black title wording, spread the full width of the cover. Striking. Then the circle with the unnecessarily small 9d price, the month-less box with the issue number. So simple, comparatively crudely created by today's whizzy standards, and yet so utterly enticing. Comics were absolutely great back in the day weren't they... Look at that! Comics. I love them
  12. First Nightstalkers, a new title arrives, now Night Thrasher #1 finally shows up: Only #2 (and potentially 6) missing: 1,074 confirmed AUS price variants (excluding the two Conan magazine titles)
  13. Nice. I always liked Ralph in the sitcom Dear John as a kid. I can still sing the theme song now, despite not having seen it for over 30 years. Not exactly a work of horror of course but, given that the memory often cheats, it could well turn out to be horrible were I to see it again today
  14. Popular book - it had multiple printings. Those were the days, when people bought books.
