  1. The bloke fighting Gorgo's pretty big isn't he. Even though he doesn't seem to have any feet. Who makes his clothes do you think? And where does he go for a poop? Unless there's a giants toilet roll factory down the road, I'd imagine he'd have to use a tent or something. Imagine the mess afterwards. Pretty shocking I bet. They never cover this stuff do they, in the comics I mean. Where do the giants poop, and what do they wipe their arses on afterwards? Epilogue: The World Shaker sheds his load. No wonder the world shook. Lets face it, it'd be enormous. "Mum, there's a massive brown thing in the garden. It's bigger than the shed!" "Stop mucking about Billy. There's no such thi- SWEET JESUS WHAT'S THAT!" "I told you Mum. What's that smell?" "Oh"

  4. Poor little thread? At 73 in pages Maurice I'd say it's a roaring success mate
  5. ....with special guest star, Gorgo! What! It could happen
  6. Yes please FD, 17 was a typo Version 2.0 - just Thor 19 to complete the regular newsstand copies now

  11. Are we closing this one then, seeing as how the original is back up?
  12. Afternoon. For those of you that think my sole board purpose in life is to mither CGC about Newton Rings, bother Admin about Journals and bore everyone with pence research I'd like to remind you that I can also bore you to tears with price font research In the rather alluring folders above sits this fetching spreadsheet which is tracking all 20 Marvel books published in the shown date range and recording all the known price font variations. There is a tangible link, oddly enough (given it's me) to the presence or otherwise of pence priced books and I think I may be onto something. So watch this space, as a huge pile of pontification is coming soon. I may dress it up in wistful nonsense, if the mood takes me. Now on my screen is a red wiggly line under pontification. Is pontification not a word? And if so, why not? What is wrong with pontification? Is it not just pontificating with a ion instead of a ing? We need answers. And why we're on the subject of answers, guess what response I got from CGC to this: Ha! you was going to say 'none' wasn't you. Well you're wrong. Here's what they said: "Dear Steve, thank you for your question. We found it stultifyingly boring and all felt the urge to kill ourselves when it arrived and stunk up our inbox. But it did serve a purpose, as we printed off a copy and rolled it up into a cone. We sent it to the London Office and when you next pop in they have orders to shove it up your . Now will your please just off." Firm but fair.
  13. Always happens doesn't it. You put aside an avenue of research to concentrate on other things, someone then shows interest in it and your own interest is reanimated! So I spent a little while filling in a few of the missing $1.99 regular priced newsstands this morning, and I tinkered with the summary chart a bit. Here's the latest version: Every book colour coded green means I have a copy / image saved in here: If anyone has a scan / image of the following issues please post them: Cable #72 $1.99 newsstand Cable #73 $1.99 newsstand Hulk #11 $1.99 newsstand Thor #17 $1.99 newsstand Once those 4 issues are recorded we'll have confirmation that a 'regular' $1.99 ($2.99 for double sized) newsstand copy exists for each title in scope for the proposed 5 month variant date range as expected. That will leave us on the hunt for more $2.29 / $2.49 variants. We may find more for the existing 5 titles, or even better we may find a copy for a new title. But as it stands, the 27 variant book figure, spread across five months / six titles appears not to want to budge. I may have to start looking again On the summary you'll see a column under each book titled 'Indicia Price US / Can'. This is where I'm recording any variations on indicia prices. To add to the intrigue, some of the variant priced books reflect the variant cover price, like so: ...and some don't: It would be nice to complete a full picture of indicia content, and I'll look to start more fully populating that part of the chart at a later time. It can only help inform why these books exist.
  14. That's the type of response I've got from multiple sources Mike. So still some hope a message will be forthcoming, but I can't help but think the decision makers have opted to ride out the storm and stay silent. I'll be the first to thank them however, if they do decide to post a meaningful statement here. Like many things in life, it's often the way companies manage / respond to problems that gets the bad press and ill feeling going, more so than the actual problem itself. It would be the easiest thing in the world to post a placeholder message here along the lines of "we hear you and will respond in detail soon while we get our ducks lined up". Then we all wait for it and give them the benefit of the doubt and hold off continuing to post negative commentary. Someone somewhere shoulders that responsibility and, to my eyes, that person is letting us all down by staying silent. When the new London office opens, I want to bring my AF15 and ASM 1-10 up for grading. While this is going on, I don't feel inclined to risk it as the intention is to sell them and if they come back with the rings I may have issues selling as others have noted in the thread. So I really hope this is solved. As Sharon mentioned earlier, switch the case so the rings are on the back. Or recruit a new engineer. Just do something.
  15. Yep, I know. I stopped looking for them too. Easy enough to find, but I have too many things to look for lately so something had to give! Be great if you have scans to post them here, otherwise it's on my retirement to do list.
  16. I've killed the pence thread... Ironic.
  17. Ha! Yes, I have. I actually stopped looking a while back and passed the reins to FD and Masterlogan. The eyes are creaking a bit too lately - too many years staring at eBay listings I fear (amongst other things )
